Your channel saves my ass daily! I am new to sewing and you’ve helped me so much! Please keep doing what you’re doing with the same simplicity and clarity of instructions ❤️
Amazing tutorial!! I struggle a lot trying to follow tutorials on how to sew practically anything. This video and overall channel has helped me tremendously improve my sewing skills and actually be proud of my completed product! Thank you thank you thank you!!!!
Just stumbled across your channel while looking high and low for a simple midi skirt tutorial that I liked, and I found you! I'm in love with your videos!!! I love how simple you explain every piece you make and your purpose behind your channel! You are very talented and your style is so me! Subscribed and can't wait for more!!💕
Well you just made my day!! Thank you SO much for the kind words. It's comments like this that give me the drive to keep creating and sharing. Can't wait to see what you create x x
Hello, I'm just wondering if you can do a tutorial on what you are wearing. I think it is a romper or jumpsuit. I would really enjoy a video on that. Also, loving all your videos so far. They are all very handy and inspiring.
Thanks so much for noticing! The jumpsuit tutorial can be found here theessentialsclub.com/blog-posts/diy-shift-jumpsuit - hopefully get around to making a video for it one day soon also :)
I already recreated your bucket hat tutorial and am sooo happy with the results! When I searched for a linen pants tutorial I was soo stoked to realize it's from you again. 😄 Your finished pants look amazing and I'm going to recreate them as soon as possible. Subscribed and excited for more content. 🥰❤
hey girly! i’ve been following you since forever i love your content. just wanted to let you know that i’ve made the linen shorts and the bucket hat. but this is totally my next project. love from canada!
Pleeeeeease make a video on how to make this jumpsuit/romper! I have a hard time following just patterns, so much easier for videos! I would love to see it! Love your videos :)
Again a very well done tutorial for a very nice pant. I've been wanting to try and make my own pants for a while. Thanks to you it doesn't seem as hard as I thought. I might try it soon. Thanks ! :)
I loved your video and your easy to follow instructions! I am definitely going to try making these. I already have the fabric but never found a tutorial that is as simple as yours! I have subscribed and look forward to seeing more great tutorials, thanks for sharing!
I was also wondering if you have any good places and online stores to find quality ethically made fabric materials? (outside of thrift stores, charity shops and recycling old curtains or sheets, I already do that but sometimes you just don't find what you need there)
First of all you are super cute 😍💜..and the second thing is I loved your video..I purchased a pant which came out to be really horrible..so now I will unstitch it and triy your technique..I hope it comes out well like yours.. thank you so much for this video 💜💜
can you clarify on the darts again please? when ure doing darts on the fold, shouldn't you take in an inch instead? because an inch on each fold makes it 2 inches and overall 8inches? or maybe it's so late and my brain is not working because it still fitted you nicely.
haha that's all good and I totally get what you mean! When I measured how much I needed to take in it was on the fold and therefore only half of the full amount was counted. So when I went to add in the darts I only needed to measure on the fold. So it was 8inches in total on the fold I needed to take in so each dart needed to be 2inches on the fold. Does that help make more sense of it? :)
omg thank you, you motivated me to start sewing again! When I was about ten years old, I sewed everything but somehow I lost the interest in it. Now with your tutorial, I am really motivated to start again. But I do have one question, how much fabric did you use for the pants? I am always really unsure how much meters to buy in my fabric store.
Hi my lovely, just discovered you and really enjoying the tutorials, it's giving me so much inspiration, have made a few pieces already. Sorry if you've been asked this a zillion times already but do you have any plans to make a trouser/shorts with pockets? Xx
Oh you're the best!! Thank you :) The best way to figure out how much fabric you'll need is to measure your full hip/bum (whatever you need to allow more room for) circumference and times that by two. That will be plenty enough for seam allowance and waist band. Hope that helps! x x
@@rosamitchell6765 It's been a while since I made these so can't quite remember exactly how much I used. But If I was to make these again I'd personally order 2.5m to ensure I have enough for the four leg panels and waistband interfacing, based off my measurements :)
Sooo cute. How do you get things fitting so well in the butt area often pants are really hard to get to lie nicely there with out bagging or pulling too tight or sagging in someway. I know there is a way to adjust the crotch but not sure how to do it. Do you have a tutorial on that by chance. Really enjoying your pattern free sewing you are very talented and skilled !!!
Hi just wondering what stitch you used to sew these pants? Ps just found your channel! It’s so good to see an Australian doing amazing stuff like this 🙌🏻
Aw thank you so much for your support!! When sewing each panel together I just use a regular straight stitch and then to clean up any edges I do a zig zag on the edges. Hope that helps :)
hey I'm just wondering if you could add a lace to tie in the pants in the waist with? I want to try this but i like the look of it more when the pants are tied up (:
Sewing Therapy how much more fabric did you add to the back in order to put in elastic? I assume you used elastic instead of a zipper? Would love to know how you did it! TIA!
@@amandad4135 I made Winslow Culottes pattern from Helen's Closet and the culotte has pleats in the front and the back. Instead of the pleats on the back, I added an elastic. No extra fabric added! I have a video you might like to check out! 😊
Basically do your best to copy a pair of shorts or pants you already have. The bit that comes out in the curve is the part that extends to go along your butt/ crotch and attaches in the middle
Hi, you might want to check out this other video that I've been watching, trying to decide whether to make the pants with a zipper or an elastic at the back. The other tutorial also shows how to insert pockets (and links to yet another separate tutorial specifically for that). Hope you find it useful! th-cam.com/video/jTHTvm1RImw/w-d-xo.html
I've been following this tutorial and I've just joined the inner seams. Even though I cut them out as really high waisted (about 5cm/2in above my belly button) when I sit down, the back pulls down to my butt crack :/ I don't know what I've done wrong or how to fix it :(
Hey! first of all i wanted to say that i bought my first sewing machine because of youj eje i wanted to ask you, when you sew the legs what stitch you use and how you do it, thanks!
the legs are done using a straight stitch - usually when the kind of stitch isn't specified you should use a straight stitch. What length of stitch you use will depend on your fabric, but it should be pretty short. Good luck with sewing!
Hello, i'm wondering whether you added more allowance for the waist area? As the pattern is cut from a fitted shorts, will there still be so much allowance (8 inches in the video) to sew the darts?
There's two front sections and 2 back sections so that's correct there ends up being 4 all up. Just make sure you have the right sides of the fabric facing each time you replicate it. Hope that helps x

Too kind! Thank you so much and will definitely keep the tutorials coming :)
Wonderful tutorial! Would love to see another version with an elastic waistband 😊
these are exactly what i'm looking for! the shape is super flattering, and honestly not that much harder to sew than pajama pants. thank you!!!
they way she isn't using any pins.... the bravery
No ironing either 🧐
girl the folding either like howwww
or zipper foot 😭
Yeah, and yet the pants are fine...talented!

Do you finish your seams with anything such as pinking shears or zig zag stitch? Love your channel have several of your projects. Thank you.
Since you used linen did you find they raveled without doing a french seam? Wonderful tutorial! Thank you!

How much fabric did you use to make the full pairÉ I was wondering how many yards or metres i would need for linen pants with a matching shirt
this is great thanks for the goods works god bless you

How much material did you need to make these trousers?
How many yard/s of fabric did you used?

Hi! How would you adjust this to make the culottes less wide? Would you just change where you cut along the outside? (where the hip seam would be?)
Hi I’m obsessed with your videos, keep up the good work 😍 I’m very new to sewing, would this be too difficult for a beginner?
Thank you soo much! Pants are generally a perfect beginner piece to make. The zip might be a challenge for a first attempt but totally doable!

That's what I'm wondering too!
💞💞💞💞💞💞
bro these are so fuckking cute,,,, im in love
How many meters did you use?
I can't remember exactly, but I would say I used about 1.5m off the roll.
A bit confused on the front and back patterns, shouldnt the back patterns have longer measurements? Or is it the same with the front pattern?
the back patterns have longer messurements because the fabric runs over the butt. Thus, the "distance" from top to bottom is longer than in the front
Sorry but you sound Australian so I am just wondering where you buy your fabric from? I don't find a lot of linen in Spotlight and Lincraft :/
You can put the subtitles in Spanish, please
wait so 4 copies of the the first template
There's two front sections and 2 back sections so that's correct there ends up being 4 all up. Just make sure you have the right sides of the fabric facing each time you replicate it. Hope that helps x
Four total but the fronts are slightly different than the backs
Loved this but some close up shits would have been good.
I mean close up shots.
omg i hate the measuring part in 14:00!!! i have dyscalculia so understanding numbers is super difficult for me.
lets see how i can turn this out.,...
I wouldn’t call these culottes. These are wide legged capri pants. Culottes should look like a skirt but in fact have two legs.
