Where is the gravitas in this interviewer's voice? These stories are hard enough to relate to, but the interviewer's almost cavalier manner of asking the questions is mind-blowing. Suan Rubin's story is horrific and she tells it with such poise and dignity. Bless her.
Mrs. Rubin is such a beautiful, graceful, and classy woman. She endured so much. She emphasizes the love & devotion to family & God, above all else. I am so blessed to hear her testimony. She is an incredible survivor.
I am furious at this interviewer. She is rude and keeps asking for clarification constantly - this poor lady looks like is being interrogated - really!!!!!! She is a disgrace to humanity.
This interviewer was for some reason very pissed off 😡, it seems she thought it was an interrogation for the Gestapo !What an amazing sweet woman to stay so patient while she testify about this horrible nightmare she went thru

The stories of all these Holocaust victims should be treated with the utmost in respect & sensitivity...I'm sorry but most of these interviewers are cold & conduct these interviews poorly. If that's complaining, I'm sorry but it's the truth. From most of the opinions I've read under the videos, others also agree with what I'm saying. This woman"s story is amazing...like all the others are too. I really do appreciate all of these videos.
I appreciate all those who interviewed the survivors. I am learning so much that I never learned in school or anywhere. This lady and others like her are so brave to share these traumatic memories so that hopefully we will never forget.
I've had to stop in the middle of her testimony because the interviewer is the coldest sounding woman I've ever heard. Why was she allowed to behave with this kind of demeanor? Now, I'll finish watching.... However, I'm furious with the interviewer. The lady is very gracious and dignified as she is being treated this way.
I expect the interviewer wanted to ‘encourage’ the survivor to disclose the sheer terror of the experiences but I’ve never heard one that seemed to be questioning her testimony quite like this and I felt very disturbed by it and upset for the lady who after all was sharing something horrendously traumatic, so a far more caring/respectful manner in doing this is vitally important. I see this was in 2001 and I’ve heard hundreds but this upset me.
Susan.... she's very kind but that interviewer......disturbs!!!! Considering how difficult is for the survivors telling about their experience.....the interviewers need to be prepared about it.... they need also a psychological preparation... This is not a normal interview....
Let your Gratitude that this Testimony exists supersede your petty comment, which reflects your own misguided distractibility and focus. After you’ve volunteered to interview such survivors, I suggest you listen more, and complain less!

This wonderful lady is asked “describe the smell “ in the train after 3 days .... really? This interviewer interrupts at sensitive times and asks questions that were answered previously ... I couldn’t continue to listen ... this interviewer is not appropriate for this arena ☹️

The interviewer cams across as very ignorant. I’ve watched many documentaries about the Jewish annihilation and in those they told of how people who were shot or beaten if they didn’t hand over what they were asked for. She is an embarrassment to her people!
Yes, I felt the same. Especially in the beginning, I'm sure too it was difficult for Mrs. Rubin to have to speak and go into details. However, it is important that the information is correct. I am thankful and appreciate that Mrs. Rubin and the other survivors agreed to share their experiences. It is so important for them to be heard, that we may never forget.
This is not the first survivor I've heard who told how wonderful the Danish and Swedish people were to them. Those efforts were a balm to these tortured souls.

It should be required in schools to listen to multiple interviews to really understand what these people went through to never let it happen to any one any where ever again. Any time one group thinks they are superior to another it is wrong.
You are mistaken. Jewish people in pre-WW2 Europe were very diverse in terms of religiosity, many were Hasidic but there was a spectrum of degrees of religious practice. Many were secular and did not practice or only practiced when they visited their family in rural areas, remember that many were socialists of communists. In other words not all preWW2 homes had Mezuzahs. The interviewer seemed offended at her not rememvering but that was nothing compared to asking Susan “How did the train wagon smell after three days”. I’ve never heard such an inappropriate question in all the interviews I’ve listened to.

Ask the question, move on, practice your interviewing skills, she is making me mad and uncomfortable. I have watched many of these interviews she is terrible. Let her finish what she is saying, and how did you giving up your possessions make you feel? Come on we know the answer, you had to you would be sad, mad and a bunch of other feelings. This lady‘s testimony breaks my heart. She doesn’t want to tell many things because it hurts too bad. It’s not that she’s refusing to tell it’s that her mind will not let her go there! The interviewer is diligently trying to drag out feelings thoughts and the reality of what was really happening, but this lady either honestly does not remember or she can’t bring herself to say the words. Heartbreaking! Such evil she was going into! The Germans and the SS so satanic! The Germans knew what was going on and they were and probably still are Very anti-Semitic. I think they still are today!
There is a lot of anti Semitic feeling in the US right now, as well as in some European countries. We need to be super vigilant and speak up when we hear evil comments.

Why was the bread important, tips on interviewing write down what you want to learn, when did they take your food, do you recall what time of year did you leave, and stop talking over her. Be specific and pay attention to her not your next question.
This was a very poignant interview. I admire her so much. I did not feel that the interviewer was as bad as everyone else said, though. I just felt she was doing her job.
This interviewer has no sensitivity and is interrogating a woman who has been through trauma. The organization should be ashamed and pull her from all future interviews. Her lack of humanity makes me very angry.
The interviewer is doing a job of recording this terrible experience. She needs to keep requesting details to get it right for posterity. Judging by her surname, she is also Jewish so I am sure she emphasized with this lovely lady. I find her voice gentle and pleasant and really don't understand the constant criticism. Wouldn't it be better to concentrate on what the interviewee is saying?

Difficult to listen to. Interviewer is not savvy and is quite insensitive. There is a way to interview and this is not it.
