Marie you're right, what a day...when the same kind of evil that she experienced and she talked about has shown its ugly head again on that day 9/11/2001.
Thank you so much, Miriam, for your story. You are such a beautiful lady and so full of dignity. I am so sorry you had to go through this horrific experience. God bless you and all Jewish survivors of the Holocaust.
What an elegant and charming lady she was. She lived thru such a horrific experience that's its hard to believe when you see her on this video.with her brave and courageous recall.
Miriam is elegant, poised and well spoken. She is also humble and has empathy for others. Don't believe the negative trolling comments that say otherwise. I watched the interview from start to finish and Miriam has no spirit of ridicule for any peoples. On the contrary, she has a loving and thankful spirit. Miriam is truly smart and a fighter and been through and seen atrocities and such hatred it's hard to imagine, yet still has a humble and gentle spirit. A beautiful lady.
Do you claim that if someone witnessed so much hate like you described it, automatically we need to trust such person and also do you think we should trust in what she say because of she looks trust worthy?
What a useless comment…you’re free to comment and correlate after you go through the same experiences. It’s so easy to sit somewhere safe with an access to the internet and hypothesise.
I will never understand how being Jewish, Christian, Muslim or any specific religion could be murdered !! How any of the Jewish people survived is mind boggling.. how they are not filled with hatred or can trust ANY other race or religion is a testimony to each individual and God
Beautiful, insightful, well-spoken lady; a true survivor. I’m a Baby Boomer who is still friends with some whose parents were camp survivors. I saw as a child, the horrible tattoos with which they lived. I recall the small, kind elderly man my daddy drove to work every & his barbaric tattoo peeking out from under the sleeve of his white dress shirt. Their outlook on life was beyond amazing; I never saw anger or hate or laziness of give me because I suffered. I witnessed the visual; the tattooed reminders of pure hatred. We don’t have that today as most survivors have passed on. We must never, ever forget lest history repeat. America is richer for knowing & welcoming these survivors. Thank you for sharing your painful memories & for showing us the wonderful, loving person you are today, beyond the horrors.
The jewish people are indeed amazing and their survival throughout history is inspirational! They were always the most persecuted people in the history of the world, and yet they've never changed their human qualities!
So thankful to all who have been able to share their story with us! Also, it is shocking to see the date of when this video was recorded on the card at the beginning - 9/11 - there in New York
Thank God for the Doctor and His wife! Thank God for her perfectionist mother! What a genius idea to take the name is a deceased German. It gave me chills when she said her brother was taken and never seen again. As a mother I could not imagine!
"Never forget" was also the slogan after 9/11 and we would do well to not forget in yet another critical time in history. God help us and God deliver us from evil for all time and soon. Amen.
What an image of Courageous, Perseverance, Resilient, Hope and Faith. May GOD continue to shower you with His everlasting LOVE in Heaven. Thank you for sharing your beautiful courageous heart ❤ Beautiful woman inside & out and we shall never forget 🌟 🙏 ❤
I would know that accent anywhere--Dobrzyn, Poland. I still remember the accent of my neighbor who was a survivor, and I haven't heard her for 45 years.
This a continuation of my comment made earlier today as the website will not allow an additional edit. I want to thank Nancy Fisher for her excellent interview skills. I also want to thank Steven Spielberg and the USC Shoah Foundation as well. I watched this interview on 1/6/2021, after Mrs. Tauber’s passing. I so appreciate having the opportunity to hear her poignant testimony.
The reason you were able to come out as a whole person is because of the support and love of a family. As horrible as the atrocities, I think it's even worse to be a child who grows up in a loveless home. Loveless is unbearable and there is no happy ending--ever. We should be doing interviews of such adult children.
O my Lord, I was wondering if they were going to address the attacks on this day, and the poor woman is in NY, no less. They do, it's the first thing they talk about. God bless Miriam and her family and the interviewer, they were brave to continue on with her important testimony.
As a non Jew , I cannot understand how a lot of these people refuse to condemn the Jewish police. I am spending a lot of time looking at footage , movies and reenactments of the the Jewish Ghettos , Mass Shootings and Camps, each time I watch the violence being carried out on the Jewish community by Jews. I find it hard to understand why some of the Jewish people make excuses for their own kind partaking in such humiliating actions .
Most people who became police thought they could save the lives of their family. Even extra ration of a slice of bread meant life. Research. Then pass judgment if you can. Would you become a policeman in the camp or getto if you could save your child, mother or sister? Everybody perished unless saved by luck or chance. As a non Jew think what you could do with a gun to your and your children’s head. Don’t wish it on you. Live in peace
I also think it was their strong family ties and their faith. God tells us to forgive. This is one hard thing to do and be completely honest about it, for me, at least.

Prior to my retirement 10 months ago, conducting interviews was one of my primary job responsibilities in human services. In turn I was interviewed many times in my career so when I say this interviewer did a good job, my opinion is based on experience.

But the majority of them seem to be following some instructions that they were given when as amateurs ( by and large) the Volunteered for this . Of course it mattered very much, because the richer the people were, the more connections and money they had to survive, buy fake papers, buy food and buy shelter and help from others!
But in the end for.most it did not matter. This lady is so gracious. Many lost their faith. Man did this to man, and I think it was the price for a Jewish country which their ancestral homeland was located.
