In an interview which reveals the anguish and sense of injustice felt by a sizeable section of the Meitei people as well as their deep dislike of the Kukis, the Chief of the Meitei Leepun has said that if the government, either in Delhi or in Manipur, does not intervene quickly, “there will be civil war” adding “the Kukis will not be able to defend themselves”. Mr. Pramot Singh made clear this was a warning to both governments.
At one point in the interview, towards the end, when Mr. Pramot Singh is talking about the civil war that would happen if the government does not intervene, he spoke about a 15 kilometre area where, he claimed, the Kukis have set up roadblocks and encroachments, stating bluntly that they would be “wiped out” in that area. Please see this for yourself. I will not say more.
Mr. Pramot Singh, who flew from Imphal to Delhi specifically for this interview, said the Kukis are “outsiders”. He said “they are not part of the family” adding they are “not indigenous to Manipur”. He described them as “tenants” in Manipur.
More importantly, he said that “the majority of Kukis are illegal” although he did not have any facts to back up this claim.

I lived there 10 years regarding my job. And I can tell you that hatred against the kukis is embedded in most of them. I have both meitei and kuki friends but when i lived there ten years, and I knew this day would come sooner or later. Wherever hatred between communities exist fragmentation is inevitable.

And how much Karan Thapar tried to tweak his narrative to go anti-establishment, anti-BJP or anti-meitei in case of Manipur, in the end, he did feel the general sentiment and emotion of the meitei people.
The anger, dissatisfaction, helplessness, a conceivable threat to the idea of Manipur, the challenge Meitei have always felt and kept suppressed is honestly and sincerely expressed, how we are boxed into a 8% land, how constantly our lifelines, national highways are blocked.
The ethnicity called Meitei has found its origin in Manipur only, our kingdom flourished for thousands of years in this land only. We don't have a second home. Its is our right to safeguard it. Somebody, or community, or tribe influenced by outsiders, illegal immigrants or refugees and establishing a common umbrella and trying to break Manipur cannot be acceptable. It is against the idea of Manipur as it was, and as it should be.
The liberal, democratic and tolerant nature of Meitei can itself be ascertain with the fact that, there are: Meetei Hindu, Meitei Christian, Meitei Muslim, Meitei Sanamahi, settling and getting along with all kind of people and tribes in the small valley.
Sometimes in this crucial times, often wonder have our civilized, soft, silence and welcoming nature been taken advantage of !!!
If there is any sanity left, then this violence and mayhem should end. However, it seems this is being played on to its advantage.
The Kuki tribal leaders are openly denying, and they say No peace, until their first and foremost demand is made, Separation, in order words, to break Manipur, denounced the idea of Manipur, and have their own autonomy, separate themselves or form Greater Mizoram.
In the events leading to the mayhem, the Kuki leaders denounced the Government, burned down offices, gym, they altogether shouted abusive slogans for Chief Minister, it was so uncalling.
Why, because the Government acted against and destroy poppy cultivation, his war on drugs, eviction drive encroaching Reserve Forest and Protected lands, his voice against the infiltration, illegal migration?
Besides Kuki leaders openly say that Kuki-Chin-Zo group doesn't recognize international boundaries, means you can come/go to any of the countries in these regions, settled down, create/expand villages anywhere !!!
Our appeal is to the India Government and the State Government to listen to the plight, anger, helplessness of the Meitei community and to please intervene in time.

I am from West Bengal and I pray quick establishment of peace in manipur. But I am seeing very disturbing videos . Few days ago manipur police were cocking their gun against assam rifle. Now I see the guy above openly giving ethnic cleansing threat in national media. Also only counter argument I heard from meitie community is they are claiming to be tribe because they don't have land access and someone is doing puppy cultivation?? Where is the logic in this argument??
