- This shows you how to fold a suit to put into a suitcase without wrinkling. The incredible person in the video is Jacky Tam from British Tailors, 8-B Carnavarn Road, T.S.T., Kowloon, Hong Kong, british_tailors@honkong.com
By helping that one customer, he's helped over a million struggling bag-packers. Well done sir.
Well, thanks to that one customer too ... :-)
3.4 million and counting! I wonder if this guy has ever seen this video and his impact.
I could watch this man fold suits all day.
"Too much pressure, too much wrinkle" ~ Wise words from the great tailor.
Why? I show you.
I watch this like 1-2 times per year just to feel the level of calm it brings
He folded that shirt like a master
By the way - the real credit for this goes to Jacky Tam (the person in the video) at British Tailers in Hong Kong. They are at 8-B Carnarvon Road, TST, Kowloon, Hong Kong. They were so good! The jacket that I wear all the time is the one I got there.
This man could break your arm with his pinkie. Easy. With no wrinkles. Awesome.
Hey gang. Places like Lowe's (in the US) sell XL Ziplock bags that are 24 in x 20 in and work great for this. They are about $6 for 4.
For those who can't find a big zip bag, use a garbage bag and tie it off with a rubber band or bungee cord. Works great.
I was looking for instructions on how to pack a suit jacket to post and saw this. He treats the suit with such reverence and makes the whole process look like a work of art.
This guy's the bomb! Best approach for folding I ever ran across.
This guy is skilled! I rewatched and wanted to hit the like button again but it was not possible...
this is what the world needs more of. thank you jacky tam shoutout British Tailors, 8-B Carnavan Road, T.S.T., Kowloon, Hong Kong. professional beyond professional!
Ziplock 2 gallon freezer bags for a suit, 1 gallon freezer bags for shirts. It really works! The 2 gallon size can be hard to find..
It's cool to watch somebody who really knows what he's doing.
Hong Kong don't fuck around. Suits are their culture.
One of the many arts the British imparted on us , a shame the Chinese are taking it away though.
Brian LO It's too bad. The British should have "given it back" to (ROC) Taiwan, not mainland communist China.
MrPisster They had no choice, it was an agreement that was signed 100 years ago.
So what's the tailor store the local will go for their custom made suit?
Cablev94 technically Taiwan considers themselves an autonomous part of China. Soooooo technically wouldn't be dishonoring the agreement.
This guy just caresses the clothes into submission... a true master of his profession.
2 minutes of care on an 8 hour flight is worth it for me. High rollers notice the details. Thanks for the video!
The suit folding was wonderful, and then... BAM! He amazes you with the shirt folding technique. I had to watch it in slow motion just to see what exactly he did. Great video.
Anyone else think it's pretty cool that this is the line of work he has a passion for?
Proud being a man! We are so simple and always solution oriented! Give this gentleman a medal of Honor!
Tam has the smoothest touch here, the way he caresses the cloth is second to none. A true master
MAN...WE ARE LIKE DOOR KNOBS TO THESE ASIANS...THEY ARE FREAK'N GREAT AT EVERYTHING. I FINALLY LEARNED THIS TODAY, NOW THE ONLY THING I NEED IS TO BUY SOME SUITS.
Fantastic! The bag with air idea is brilliant!
Yep. Its always cool to see people doing something they love
Just used this video to travel from Philly to SC. It was perfect. Not one wrinkle. Thanks Dude
One straight forward video out of thousands. Well done!
It works pretty well. What inspired me to ask this question of the tailor was that I had been shopping for a suitcase with a suit hanger. It seems they don't really exist the way I was used to and then, as I thought about it, that never really worked anyway and in any case it makes the suitcase too large. This method isn't perfect but it seems to be the best thing short of wearing your suit.
This helped. Thanks, Kung-Suit master!
By FAR the best technique I've found on the internet for both suits and shirts.
That shirt fold though jeez so pro
Thank you for the post!
My boyfriend used your advice and it worked great! No wrinkles!
For the Bag we used the Space Bag, Medium size, they are the vacuum seal ones we just left out the vacuuming part, we bought it at Walmart, worked great!
this is excellent.I have found that a large packing cube can hold a suit when folded this way, so if you have an ebags or eagle creek large cube,it will take the suit, and will not crease or wrinkle. youtube has another video showing a guy using a plastic cleaners bag, this absolutely works as well and is cheaper than the cubes
I traveled globally for business and this was and still is my reference for folding a suit. I haven't needed to do that in a few years, but I'm now going to my daughter's wedding and will need to pack a suit for the flight and I'm right back to this video. It works great. Just buy some large ziplock bags and you're good to go.
I’m in the same boat tonight. Need to pack a jacket for a wedding, and back to this video after many years of not needing it. Once again in awe of this guy’s technique.
Honestly, I love watching this better than most of the movies I've seen and paid for. The guy has me totally mesmerized.
Even though I remember the steps by heart I still watch this video before travelling
I watch this video nearly every time my husband travels. he has never complained, and doesn't have to find a dry cleaner! :)
We use a 2.5 gallon bag
+Bridgette Souza Perfect, thanks! I hope I can find one tomorrow morning
I just got told I cant take my suit on a singapore airlines flight because I'm in economy. I think this guy and his legendary folding technique may have saved the day. Thanks to the uploader too!
This is the real deal. This single video beats other 100 vids out there.
This is a brilliant demo always watch just before travelling
I have tried this method without the plastic bag and it worked, with a little help from the shower steaming it. I am going to try this with a 2.5 gallon freezer bag.
Is a weird I've watched this video like 90 times?!?!
+Michael Kirk Not if you did not understand the first 89 times!
sytestorm something about it that makes my mind relax. Almost therapeutic
Michael Kirk
Ah I see. Well then, continue :)
+Michael Kirk Because it's ASMR video
Shinji K what is that?
This is so helpful! And he is so classy when he folds it- so professional!
Huge respect for tailor Jacky!
watching a master at work.
I always wondered what to do with the dress shirt sleeves, now I know!
this guy is awesome. I had a suit made in Bangkok, and I'd love to do the same in Hong Kong. Much more affordable than if I had one made in the U.S. Thanks for sharing!
This guy's got some skill. Awesome video, saved me a lot of work :)
Thanks to Jacky Tam!
He is sooo good at folding! makes it look so easy too!
видно сразу , что человек любит свою работу, делает это с душой))) красава. уважаю таких !!!!
Super-dee-duper awesome video. Short, simple, easy to understand, and as a result, easy to do. Thanks to you, I didn't look like a wrinkled mess at the career fair. :)
I did this for a wedding last weekend. Works great!
This guy is a ninja - a true master. Thank you for sharing, very helpful.
This worked great on my last trip, even without the bag. On the way back I tried one of the "rolling" methods & it didn't come out nearly as well.
2.7 million views for this video, and still worth MORE than that. Jacky Tam may not even know how important he is.
Before every business trip I watch this video again :).
What a good citizen.
NICE! This was the first time I actually cared to fold a suit correctly, and did it right. It looks tight. The main problem was that my suit was too big for the zip-lock bag I had laying around, so I had to fold the pants and suit each in half once (which I am guessing will probably create unwanted wrinkles -- whatever it still looks tight : ).
Amazing. Got the chills for like 2 min haha
ohhhh thank you TH-cam for solving all of our How To problems in a snap!!
Love learning from a pro !
Best folding video yet! Thanks
One of the most useful videos ever!
Oh wow! This man sure can fold! Perfect!
I signed into TH-cam just to add this video to my favorites. Thank you for this post!
Thx for this. I was about to haul out my big-ass suitcase just because I needed to pack a suit. Now I can just fly with carry-on.
I googled this and it was my tailor demonstrating this! Great job!
Simple but brilliant! It's a skill that only makes sense AFTER you know it.
awesome first business trip ahead thank you for this helpful video
dude is the man
Finesse! That was amazing!
this is absolutely wonderful and saves you from buying those special made suits-bags.
I primarily wear dress shirts under a sweater, and Comfortably Collared shirts are super easy to fold and pack. It's basically an Under Amour shirt with a collar and cuffs - it's perfect under a sweater.
I love it. This guy is a genius.
Wow! This guy is a real pro.
wonderful video! in additon to zipper bags, I found that the suit bags that the stores give you kinda work too, although it won't hold that much air.
I think I need to keep that dude in my glove-box for whatever comes my way!!!!!!!!
Actually this is a great way to do it, this is what I was tough from a guy in L.A many years ago...it works...no wrinkles!!
Gotta love Hong Kong shops. So helpful!
I had a suit tailor made in Hong Kong -- I'd follow their advice!
This guy is my hero. good post.
I just love the instructions on this video. :) thanks. the best I've seen today.
I didn't know 3 million people would be interested in this! Y'all should watch the Madonna movie..
this is strangely relaxing
This is fantastic. this is so professional. this is old school good. Where is this? What store? What city? I have to visit this guy....
Hong Kong Tailors are top notch.
Brilliant ... well done and thank you!
Great tip. I always thought there has to be better way.
amazing! thank you.
It looks like he did it a thousand times already. I doubt it will be this neat when I fold it for the first time.
THIS GUY IS A GAME CHANGER!!! NO MORE FUCKING HANGERS IN THE CAR!!!!
Brilliant way of folding a suit! Or I can also just wear it on the plane while I travel. That's another option.
But then you could get it dirty. A disaster when your flying in for an interview somewhere and only have one suit!
Some of the most valuable things I've ever learned have been taught in broken English.
That dude is now my personal tailor...
For the suit bag use the plastic from the dry cleaner and just tie both ends very tight with a knot and it will put air in the bag to hold the suit!
This guy is a hero.
Much appreciated. (ps.. I was told by the tailor to wear the suit on the plane, I'd never heard of that before)
I have watched 4 different folding techniques before this one and all were women instructors, at the end of all 4 videos I was like "WTF? I wasted my time watching this! ". So once again, as a male, I'm fucking proud of my kind!
hahaha lool
Well said. Well said.
I just spent 20 min folding a suit, it kinda worked!
well we'll see when i get off the plane
I did a dry run on this technique...amazing.
Makes it look so easy! :)
