i was playing on elysium and i was at the level 30 warrior quest place for the whirlwind axe, and there was a human warrior there (im tauren) and he was doing a bunch of gestures to talk and i found out he didnt know where to get the charms so i told him to follow and we bagan to run to arathi highlands, telling horde not to kill him. of course they didnt listen lol we waited at each others corpses when 1 of us got ganked. i ended up taking him to 1 of the elementals and doing /point at it, he thanked me and typed in common in a way i could understand on my char "mi luv u" lol man good times.

This video almost made me shed a tear. WoW has been such a huge thing in my life since i started playing back in vanilla when i was only 8 years old. I don't remeber much from my childhood but I remember almost every instance me and my brother did, all the long escort quests and watching the fantastic Tbc trailer on TV, which made me and my brother jump with excitement. Me and my brother can thanks to Elysium experience the game that was such a huge impact on our lifes, and in my opinion, the best version of WoW ever

I recently went back to play Burning Crusade on a private server to really test if it was just me looking on the past in rose tinted glasses or not. The last time I properly played WoW was maybe 2 or 3 years ago and I can say for sure that I enjoyed Burning Crusade after going back to it a lot more than the more modern WoW experience.
For me, it's mostly just that leveling is slow and more difficult. I feel like I need to be careful when I plant out who I will attack, how I will draw them out, and what I'll do if more enemies than I expect get caught in the fight. I really enjoy that and I don't feel like I had to be nearly as careful when I played the more up to date WoW.

That's the main reason I don't bother with private servers. I was starting to get addicted to Nost shortly before it got taken down, so I didn't make it far. But learning the fickle nature of private servers really hurt my interest in the 60 scene. If Blizzard did release Legacy servers then I would probably no life both of them pretty hard.

Great video! I remember first time booting up the game, back when I was 10 or 11, and seeing that amazing cinematic intro, that the game had. It still gives me goosebumps. Tried getting back to the game last summer, but it just didn't feel the same. Like you said, the community was gone. It makes me a bit sad, that we won't be able to experience the things that made vanilla WoW special, again. Oh well, I guess we'll always have the memories.

I used to have a lvl 29 dwarf paladin i used for pvp only. I was one of the only people who i knew at that time to max out multiple skills like alchemy, mining, crafting etc. because it gave you traits and every little bit helped. So one day i found myself looking for silver veins in this cave to increase my mining skill and came across this player "??" troll shaman inside the cave just as i was entering the cave. I tried to turn around and run away but he fired a shot at my back but it barely hurt me. From playing many levels of pvp with that character I knew I could heal my character full health at least 3 times plus I had potions, charms, plus top end gear for that level. I turned around, emoted a wave at him, drank a strength potion and then started running at him with my giant two handed hammer as he started backing up. I stunned him with one of my many stunlocks and proceeded to kill his character. I wish i could have known what he was saying at that point because it was one of the best times i ever had on that game. No doubt he could see my level and assumed i would be an easy fight but oh man was he surprised when i hit him first swing and took half his health.

Your story about how you got into WoW is pretty much identical to mine - My brother got WoW from our parents when Wrath came out (So around 2010) and I watched him play it a lot. Eventually my brother stopped playing shortly after and I took over and played it a lot for the next 5 years. I quit when Warlords came out, as I was pretty drained at that point. Was quite young when I started playing WoW to, I was only 11 back in 2010.
I remember so many fond memories from back in Wrath, I remember boarding a boat as a level 15 human warrior for Northrend after I got the expansion because I was so excited to see the new area, only to be killed very quickly. I remember crossing the Dark Portal as a low level, yet again to excited to wait after I got the BC expansion pack, traveling the desolate areas of Hellfire Pennisula avoiding the giant Fel Reaver. (This was all still when Wrath was current). That feeling of exploration resonated with me and helped me form very fond memories in WoW and reinforce my love for gaming. WoW was essentially my gateway drug to the gaming world.
I even gave Elysium a try since I never got to experience true Vanilla WoW content. I can safely say that my experience in Elysium, while it was hard grinding, was very fun and enjoyable. I got to actually socialize with people that I otherwise would have ignored. I cherished moments when I formed a party to take down elite quests in various zones and doing dungeons. You are right - Vanilla was all about the journey to 60 and not the destination.

    Old vid but new comment.
1: Classic is a thing now, yay!
And I remember fondly my first time experiencing WoW. I came from using my parents laptop to play Runescape in 2007. My parents just divorced and my Dad felt really bad so he took me & my brother to get a new video game. He was expecting I'd pick a console game but runescape peaked my interest in computer titles and I heard a lot of older kids in the store talking about WoW. It was down to its last copy. My Dad got it for me & I got home, installed it (took HOURS back then plus multiple CDs) then finally tried to play, only to learn I needed to purchase a subscription. Which i didn't get till a week later....
Me and my brother were kids so we didn't work. Had to share an account to reduce expenses so we could only take turns playing. My first character was a night elf warrior that was inspired by Link from Zelda as well!
I had no concept of tank dps or healer so I just used a sword and shield and dumped talents into arms hahahaha.
As someone that age & in classic back then, the farthest I got was ashenvale & doing blackfathom deeps with likeminded players.
I met a nelf warrior who was lvl 60, helped me do heaps of content and gave me lots of green items including boots with a speed enchant. Which made my entire week.
WoW used to be something seriously special.

Very good video! I hope someone from the Blizzard team sees it and UNDERSTANDS what their players actually want! The journey, that's where it's about! My first character was a Night elf Hunter. Doing quests and enjoying my time walking around the map just to realize one day, THATS ONE BIG TREE. Then continue playing in Darkshore and EXPLORE. The bottom line is, our lives develop, we get more responsibilities and things change. But going back to WoW in those starting zones and relive your younger self? That got no price :) Enjoy the journey folks!

Watched this now, couldn’t agree more with the fact about that “items are important yes, but the journey was much more satisfying.” I’d rather level all the way from 1-60 than grind to get an epic item. And that’s what I did honestly, had some MC epics back then, but after a while it’s just gear, I forgot I even had them at some point 😅
    Good video my man!

really well articulated. Going back to this old game is so far removed from modern wow that the two games don't even feel the same anymore. I thought in the beginning that part of what I wanted out of classic wow as just nostalgia, but after giving it a go again I realized how much more I enjoy the world, lvling, and community. All things I took for granted long ago.

When my mom went to bed, I hopped on her computer and played from 9pm til the sun came up 5am. My first character was a Tauren Druid. It was such an immersive experience that Mulgore is still a home away from home to me. My favorite zone to just be in.

First trial was vanilla, second serious was WOTLK - end game, 10 and 25 man raids... aw.. being tank - it was awesome.

This game was my life and many others back in the day. The difficulty only made it more fun. With wow dying off and new games gunning for its glorious crown I think I can say this for most, WoW gave us memories to cherish and an experience of our lifetime. I will miss all the open world raids on the blood elves, all the raids, dungeons, farming and friends gained and lost along the way. I am proud to have plaid in the glory days and if I could go back I would do it in a heartbeat. I hope It lives on not just in our memories but through our stories and tales of each and every one of us. To all the players who understand, unite the banners and let's toast! For the horde~

A big part of it for me was that your realm was your community.
I rolled a Tauren Warrior because I loved how I looked when I wore a full Hulking set (level 18 gear from what I remember) with a pink T-shirt and wore it well into my late level 30's, early 40's. I spent a good portion of my morning chatting /dancing with people in Orgrimmar and a lot of people, often people in different time zones who were about to turn in for the night, recognised me as they came into the city to sell their junk and hand in quests. They would often tell me about their day and ask why I was spending so much time talking instead of leveling! Needless to say I didn't have a great understanding of how stats effected my character or how to be better at the game haha! But I did run a really fun social guild.
Good times. By the way, I love your videos! I was the older brother in your story. He thought it was a stupid game at first but I offered to share my account provided he paid half the subscription - he still plays oj and off to this day. 😂

When I first played WoW, all those many years ago, I never did find a good website for quests, or a guide, or any of the tools that gamers now take for granted. When I started my Night Elf Druid, I had absolutely no preconceived notions about the world. It was basically like playing Riven for me, where every new discovery felt like unlocking the secrets of the universe. I never moved past that mode. All the way through Wrath, I chose to always rawdog it. No guides, no videos, no Wikis, just my characters facing the world totally blind.
It didn't make me a great leveler or raider, and I died a lot bashing my head against things I mechanically couldn't defeat. My build was never optimized, my raids and dungeons were played blind, and I never had any idea what loot any mob or boss was going to drop. And yet, my hand to God, there was no other gaming experience like it. It was glorious awestruck adventure at every turn. I would literally give a finger to live that experience again.

8:12 exactly what im saying for years and people won't understand. It blows my mind that how people want to interact with Ai more than human players.... people always ask for skins etc never question server meshing or player capacity per server or interacting with them. In fact they want less real players around so they can farm and get some stuff.

I don't enjoy the game that much anymore but I remember the first time discovering the zeppelin outside Undercity and I couldn't believe it, and the fact that it wasn't just for show but you could actually use it to travel. This game was amazing if you already played the previous games

Those really were magical times. I feel bad for all of those people who never got to experience the first three years of WOW. I got the game Christmas 2004 after being the biggest Warcraft and fantasy fan. The moment after waiting like 2 hours for the game to install with all those darn disks lol, and seeing that legendary launch screen, wow. I had never played a multiplayer game like that before so I intended to play the game alone as much as I could and if I was going to talk to someone, I would do it in character on the RP server of Feathermoon.
I made a human character (who was the progenitor of my long term main character) and an Orc character who I specifically made as a "peace-loving" orc where I would go around helping Alliance characters struggling with two or more enemies lol. I met my very first friend with that Orc. That person's character was also an Orc named Multifire. I don't even remember how we became friends lol. I just remember taking the air ship from Orgrimmar to the Undercity (both of us were in character). I remember how we both explored Undercity and were horrified what the Forsaken were doing and hated them from that point on haha.
I decided to start playing my human character and remember the first time I got to Stormwind and was just amazed by how huge it was. I'll never forget wandering the streets and seeing another human character walking by named Multifire and being like HEY! And telling him who I was haha. He deleted his orc and made a human after I took a break from my orc character because he wanted to be Alliance instead. Man, those early days were just incredible. I have so many memories, from my first guild, to meeting my character's first girlfriend (Her name was Rinnala) to meeting my very own first girlfriend on that game, to making friends with someone there who became a friend long after I stopped playing, to that very first Warsong Gulch experience when it first came out. Oh the memories...

Your story is quite similar to mine, I was 12. My father recently became divorced from his wife. His buddies at work convinced him to pick WoW up. (just released). I would make fun of him calling him a nerd. He said, how about you try it out first. Good times, 56k modem, playing on an Emachine with one gigabyte of ram. Eventually upgraded to two gigs.

This video sums it up perfectly. Wow was a world, not a single player game. Compare the questhelper to old school "where is manriks wife".
Stuff was actualy closed. Not everything had a function. Loved everyone second of it.

Love me some nostalgia. Play period: (2005-2014). 2005-2008 was the best time for me. NE druid vanilla & BE mage/Tauren druid TBC... I met people from all over the World. We shared so many moments, out in that beautiful open space! We shared our dreams, our music, and stories late into that gentle night. Wow was buissy 24/7. Always someone to meet, and something to do. Everything after TBC didnt sit right with me. The LFG tool and flying (in many ways) , made the old World less important. I will miss and cherish the time i had, cause it will not come again. Old Music playlists always take me back, to those beautiful moments & People. 😉
    Vanilla/TBC:
    💙 IN MEMORY STILL BRIGHT💙

Played it when it came out, was 18 back then. I actually didn't have a good time the first year(s) or so. Still I've kept coming back for short bursts at a time.

My favorite time in wow running around stupidly with no clue was BC, favorite time bonding with friends which I still talk to this day was WOTLK, favorite time PVPing was CATA because I was ranked in the top 1% in the world. But my friends got married and we all had to work constantly to support living and I slowly drifted away from wow. The community fell apart when people so many people started to troll, do not get me wrong there were always trolls but it got out of hand. You no longer have to go up to random people and say hey want to do this dungeon. I made so many friends that way but now I just click a button wait a few minutes and boom in the instance and everyone does not speak... we used each other as tools to get something, never as people reaching their hand out to help.

I've played so many different MMOs, they all came and went but the one MMO i always came back to and the only one that survived longer than all the others, was world of warcraft. I've played that bloody game for 6 years and i have 0 regrets

WoW was one of the first games I’ve played. It really kicked of my addiction. I was like 7 or something I don’t remember much. But it was amazing. The ending really the definition of “feels good man” I just want to say thanks.
