I think the zombie bait bikini torso from Dead Island is awesome. The statue is well painted and high quality. Yes, it's grotesque, but that is the narrative of Dead Island Riptide, duh! I have mine proudly displayed on my games shelf to gross out unsuspecting visitors.
I remember getting the Perfect Dark Zero 'collectors edition' and it cost very little extra on top, this was a time when steelbook limited editions were sold as a standard option for a few quid more and not packed into extortionate collectors editions full of overpriced garbage like they are today. At the time of this game's release, big expensive, premium collectors editions containing polystone statues and replicas etc weren't a common product, especially here in the UK. It was an upfront and honest upgrade to a steel book case and a few bonus DLC codes packed in for a small price increase which was usually worth it for the case alone. Taking all this into consideration I don't think it's really fair to be in this list. And on one last note, regardless of what anyone thinks of it, my god, the art and embossing on this steelbook is by far and wide one of the absolute *best* steelbooks I've seen in my 2+ decades of gaming, matched only by the absolutely fantastic Witcher 3 steelbook.
3:13 wait you can't be serious. They offered 5 dollor compensation. The compensation doesn't even cost them anything! If there going to act scummy and give them currency they might as well give them all the in game currency. (Sorry don't play the game but it's still ridiculous)
Same. I can't understand why people are upset. It's in the game itself! This was around the time SJW's were on the rise so they were just trying to get offended by anything.
It wasn't "SJWs!!", it was a campaign by right wing groups (specifically Moral Majority) whom were horrified because "video games are for children!!" and then the ESA said they would investigate and stop the sale of the item. That's why UK/AU got it because they don't have the same right wing groups.
Oh god, Dead Island Riptide. Bad memories of that. All I remember was it was even more buggy than regular Dead Island and tons of stuff that worked in Dead Island didn't work anymore.
That statue serves as a vivid memory for me because every time I went to gamestop for like two years I could find one in the store somewhere. I’ll bet i could find one laying around there today if I looked hard enough
@@gamerito100 Then I retract that, I was under the impression they were from somewhere else and outsourced it. It's the only idea I had for how it could degrade in quality THAT hard.
The best collectors edition of recent memory was the Persona 5 take your heart edition. You got a CD, artbook, steel case, a plush, and a really nice bag as well as the game and a massive full art box for 80 quid
Ok, if that leather jacket was made by a top brand like for example the Noble House who are making WW2 replica leather jackets and they are kinda expensive, yes i would buy the collectors edition for 700-800$ but come on wtf are they doing?
"Rare example of a limited edition game made for a hand-held console" *looks at the limited edition box for almost every visual novel released for the 3DS and psvita in Japan*
You forgot the Dark Souls Estus Flask. It's like the Call of Duty Canteen, but looks like it cost 50 cents to make. Also, I love how they just continued to sell the torso in other countries that don't go out of their way to get offended.
Countries that banned Dead Island cause of that torso are run and inhabited by men with vaginas where their cocks should be. I bet you if it were a male torso being dismembered it would have all been alright :3 but meh what you gonna do? Have to protect wymzen.
I've always thought the Dead Rising bust was clever. It looks like something that you would find in a serial killer's basement and I would never own one, but it's a nice literal play on the concept of a torso bust.
I thought it was cool. I didn't understand why people thought it was upsetting despite the fact that they're literally mutilating zombies regardless. If it's the breasts that caused the problem, people weren't concerned when you get extra PP in Dead Rising for taking a picture of them
It may be trashy but it’s extremely useful. It’s a great red flag to show you someone should be avoided at all costs. You see that in their house, you run. Nice and easy.
Speaking of collector's editions, Destiny 2 actually did quite a good job and I was pretty satisfied with the stuff inside. Hawthorne's messenger bag isn't very comfortable for prolonged use, but nonetheless sturdy enough for practical use and it looks quite good. The steel tube comes with a solar power bank, which works, that's it. There're also a blanket and a rope bracelet inside the tube, which I did not open. It also contains all sorts of art stuff and an invitation from Calus, while these are of decent qualities, Calus' taste for colour schemes was... questionable.
Destiny has never dissapointed with a limited edition but thats to be expected when the only way you can get them is directly from bungie and when they're so expensive
I feel stupid for ever having bought a collector's edition... I stopped wasting my money on those years ago. Thanks for a great and entertaining video!
"Fallout 76 looked like a promising entry in the beloved Fallout series." No - it didn't. Why do some people say that? It was never liked from the beginning. It was always touted as having no NPCs. Its reveal didn't impress anyone, and Todd and Pete were extremely vague and dishonest with reference to what it was and how killing other players worked. People seem dumb and easily able to forget things. Generally speaking, people weren't expecting a lot from this game; it's just that it ended up being significantly worse than most people anticipated.
It looked promising, as long as you looked at screenshots. Graphically, the textures and environments are rather nice-looking when they load fully and don't glitch out. Just... they forgot a compelling main plot as well as the interesting NPCs, rewarding questlines, and sense of accomplishment.
@@browncoatkevin I never felt that it looked promising. Screenshots don't make a game look promising. Without the glitches or DLC pricing and canvas bag controversy, it still sounded like a shit game.

I've only gotten one collector's edition game, saw a copy of the Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice limited edition, which was only released through e-Capcom in Japan, with the game still there and some of the contents still sealed, being sold for roughly $25USD. I love the game, and $25 for a 6 year old limited edition is a pretty good deal, so I got it. The box is absolutely perfect, being a set of two cardboard drawers that would feel right at home as an object in the game and fully printed. It had the physical game, a set of visual postcards with nice print quality, a drama CD with a really nice design on the CD itself that can be viewed while keeping it sealed alongside a quality case, a soft plush of a dog in the game, and a small tote that is admittedly not high quality, but the design clearly references the game. I consider it well worth it for what I paid, but definitely don't think I would've gotten it for $80+.
Glad i never bought into the collector´s edition meme, i was always too cheap and never made an effort to set up a display rack. I did however purchased Fallout 76 on a whim, because my non-Fallout friend suddenly jumped the gun and wanted me to play too. We actually had alot of fun, playing 12 hours straight for at least two weeks after the launch, then we slipped into the non-existent endgame and realised that we did everything interesting already and moved on.
I dont understand what the problem was with the dead island riptide special edition, people knew what they were buying didnt they? Even then I personally thought it was pretty cool.
Best collector's edition I ever bought was New Vegas. The comic was great, and I was the first to document everything in it because of owning it. The Weathered 10mm was also the best ingame starting weapon. Still use the cards on poker night.
I recently found my World at War canteen and couldn't open it. My friend had bought the collector's edition but didn't drink so he gave it to me. I thought I must've tightened it too much back when I got it. Without seeing this video I would have never known it never opened in the first place.
I'll add Saints Row The Third to the list. I believe over half of the headphones sent with the collectors edition were broken, including mine. I ordered mine from the US, and the delivery took three months longer than expected (to NL), so when it arrived and I tested the headphones, it was already out of the period where we could return the headphones and get working ones.
You should have at least mentioned the new Devil May Cry pre-order jackets. They sell a total of 3 jackets that are a replica of the what the characters wear in-game which cost thousands with one costing $9,000.
I know that i'm coming late to the discussion but there is something that nobody ever mentioned... but you don't buy one jacket, is a bundle with one jacket and 3 replacements so you have to divide the actual price. Also, jackets, specially leather jackets are considered some high class wear in Japan and the price of everything is always more there than in most parts of the world (they have a high income and are also one of the most expensives countries). Still, not something i would ever consider to buy tho lol unless I was filthy rich.
I like your style, you dont talk much around you just get right to it and swipe fluently through these collections, really nice to watch and makes a 18min video feal natural and short
It wasn't supposed to be a main game. It was always intended to be spin-off. It also did get better. A review bomb was thwarted by its dedicated fanbase.
Find special editions that are worth it. That'd be a better list. Some of the older special editions came with hardback art books or soundtrack CDs. World of Warcraft came with special boxes, a hardback book, and linen maps.

I don`t agree with Arkham Knight one. Artbooks and/or comics are great additions to collector`s editions.
Steelbooks? Look great on a shelf.

You should have at least mentioned the new Devil May Cry pre-order jackets. They sell a total of 3 jackets that are a replica of the what the characters wear in-game which cost thousands with one costing $9,000.
Created by a high quality fashion designer.. the price is insane but it's not some cheap flimsy shit
Ace You can get some incredible leather jackets for under $1500.
You can get a couple Rolex’s for $9000.
