Lyrics:
Evening
Every night you come and you find me
Every night you come and remind me
That my gal is gone
Evening
Oh you've got me deeply in your power
Every minute seems like an hour
Since my gal is gone
Shadows fall
On the wall
That's the time I miss you, most of all
Even though I try, how can I go on
Evening
Let me sleep 'til the gray dawn is breakin'
I don't care if I don't awaken
Since my gal is gone
Since my gal is gone
A gem! 💖
Evenin'
Ev'ry night you come and you find me, oh Lord
And you always come and remind me, oh yes
That my gal is gone, my baby's gone, oh Lord, my baby's gone
Evenin'
Can't you see I'm deeply in your power, oh Lord?
Every minute seems like an hour, oh Lord
Since my gal, she's gone, my baby's gone, my baby's gone
Now shadow's fallin', well,
Are on the wall
That's the time I miss your kiss, most of all
Even though I try, how can I go on, oh yes, go on
Pretty baby
Evenin'
Let me sleep 'til the gray dawn is breakin', oh yes
I don't care if I don't awaken, oh Lord
Since my gal she's gone, my baby's gone, oh yes she's gone
Evenin'
Let me sleep 'til gray dawn is breakin', oh Lord
I don't care if I don't awaken, oh yes, since my gal she's gone
My baby's gone, my baby's gone
My baby's gone
Very powerful. Jimmy sings as though he means it.

Where did you get this version? It's a good song but not from the original album.
This track is from: "the blues singer" album with Charlie Musselwhite (1961)
Thanks. "The Blues Singer" album is actually from 1969
This is a great track but it is NOT from the album Evenin' Blues.
Yes, that`s true. It`s from the album "The Blues singer"

Close to the sound of a led zeppelin
How 'bout the other way around...? Zeppelin certainly did learn from extraordinary guys like this.

Does anyone know who wrote this song?
+PockASqueeno Jimmy Rushing wrote this song; it's on one of his albums, but he also used to play it with the Count Basie Orchestra.
thesithempire I've never heard the Count Basie version-I'll have to check that out!
+PockASqueeno It's actually written by Charles Daniels and Richard Whiting. Jimmy Rushing sang it with the Count Basie Orchestra. It has been done recently by Hugh Laurie
+PockASqueeno M. Parish and H. White - Evening. First recorded by T-Bone Walker With Marl Young & His Orchestra in 1945.
+arrrang Do you have any idea who M. Parish and H. White are? I've tried to looking them up, but to no avail.
