Question- I’m coming from the old vertex cordless. I just got the Stratos cordless. Somehow it’s not as bright (easy to see dirt) and it’s louder. I also detest the LCD and the fact that I can’t choose when to boost power, it won’t detect carpet and to even check the battery it has to be on and loud for a while due to the display. Is this one more comparable to the old Vertex cordless or am I doomed to have to change with the times.
In the video, you said you’d get into the details of why it won, which implies that you’re (at least briefly) compare it to the other top choices in the midrange category. Which you didn’t do. I would think the fact that you chose this model over Shark’s own “next level” Stratos would be a very obvious point to address. Why Vertex Pro over Stratos?
I want to THANK YOU for keeping your videos so short and to the point. I’m not sure what the algorithm does for others but there are too many creators making these 25 minute videos that drag on through unboxings and tests, and blah blah. Your content is absolutely unparalleled in this space, and I’d love to see this format continue to expand well beyond vacuums!!
I got this and its an understatement to say its heavy for a portal vacuum. Its amazing at pick up but would make vacuuming less fun bcuz of the weight so i vacuumed less.
I'm a fan I used to watch all the time I'm a 10 year old vacuum person too I have fixed a couple vacuums before you're the best dude to watch youtube videos you should review the dirt devil swivel glide
I have this vacuum and it’s great! A con for me is the foldable joint part wore out after about a year and a half of owning it. I do use that vacuum a lot, as I have 4 hairy dogs. However, I was able to solve that problem by ordering that particular part from Shark for $40.
Same, mine broke. Also, it lost quite a bit of suction after about 9 months regardless of cleaning all the parts and filters. I had similar experiences with Shark in the past and hadn't purchased anything from them in a long prior to this vacuum. I am mad at myself that I spent this much money on something that I should've known wouldn't last.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I HOPE YOU SEE THIS I got a Shark Vertex Upright on Amazon refurbished one absolutely was in love. It truly was the most powerful vacuum I had ever used. It lasted 9 months and we found out Shark vacuums cannot be repaired. The brush roller stopped rolling and we tried removing screws and it will not allow. I would like to know what vacuum any brand that will compare for under $300. Thank you so very much in advance for your time.
I have the shark. My only complaint is the top edge of the handle will dig into your handle after A few minutes of use. It’s not comfortable to use. I’m going to add some type of grip to mine to soften the edge. Otherwise it’s great.
I can confirm that this shark vacuum won't get tangled up with hair. I have 4 daughters and they all have long hair (so do I) and I never had to pull hair out of the brushes. I also have one mid tier Roomba and one top tier and I have to pull our hair out *daily* and our hair constantly snaps the roller brushes long before they are supposed to be replaced. So definitely 10/10 for the shark.
I am replacing my cordless Vertex with the Stratos you reviewed last year. Mine is four years old, it cracked at the joint but besides that it’s been the most amazing vacuum. I really hope the Stratos lives up to it!
hi, first i love your videos as iv been on a vacuum research kick and im a fan of how many tests you do and the quality of your footage and explanations. but one thing i think would be a great and important addition to your list of things you look at would be reliability and serviceability. things like materials used and parts availability and ease of being able to access those parts. for example iv seen many people talk about how a huge bonus for a brand like riccar being they use premium materials and are also fully serviceable yourself and every part is available to purchase. and even tho sharks seem to work great in reviews yours included, iv seen many other people talk about them lacking in long term reliability and having basically 0 serviceability or parts availability. as someone who likes the buy once cry once mentality i think this would be a very important piece of info for someone like myself. hope you see this and consider the idea !
I bought the Stratos on eBay as a supposedly returned unit for around 200 shipped. Very happy with it and the power head almost never plugs up with the debris my parrots make. There wasn't a 2 battery option as it was pretty new and I still haven't found a deal on another battery yet. My old original Duo clean the hose in the head was constantly plugging up with bird seed it couldn't pull through the hose so I upgraded the vacuum. Only bad part is batteries for the old one were easy to find cheap and I had 2 Chargers and 4 batteries for it.
Yeah, that’s the funny trick you can do with these shady resellers. They just cut the seal and open it up and put it back and then call it open box and then they can give you a huge discount so that they get the sale without breaking the contract for minimum advertised price I got set of electronic drums for about 30% less and when they arrived, you could see literally the only thing that was done was the tape was cut on the box. None of the seals had been broken on any of the wrapping or boxes. You’ll notice these resellers always seem to have an endless supply of open box or store returns or demos :-)
I'm curious why the version with the lift-away system wasn't your winner in your best cordless vacuum of 2023 video since you talked so highly off of it's feature set a few years ago.
Can you add noisiness dB level as a scoring metric? I think the DUO powerfins is quite noisy - though I do agree the performance of this vacuum is great
due to your recommendation i got one last year. so far so good. i do wish it can stand without folding, and i had to do a little modification to get a hose attachment to work.
I'd like to see your videos focus more on usability long-term. Easy of cleaning is the most important, hence why I hate the Dysons (they have to come apart just to empty). Over time, a vacuum can really have areas inside of it that you just can't (easily) clean.
I don’t know if he mentioned it in this video directly but he has stated it does affect it. That is why he was surprised it did very well with the deep clean test
I wish there was a corded version of this vacuum, or a powered lift-away with the multi-flex wand. Would likely be the only vacuum I would consider getting since I'm mostly happy with the Duo Clean I currently own.
very confused by where this sits compared to the stratos, are the referenced numbers available in a sheet to compare or does this only exist internally and the numbers make appearances in video reviews exclusively?
The Stratos cordless and Vertex cordless are very similar. The Stratos cordless adds Clean Sense IQ to automatically boost suction when dirt is detected and the Odor Neutralizer pods. The model numbers IZ682H and IZ662H help you find the exact vacuum. The model names can change and the colors and options can change but the model number will stay the same for each specific vacuum.
My big question is are the cordless stick vacuums like this one meant for whole house cleaning and can they replace a full size upright? I always hesitate to get a cordless stick over a regular vacuum because of the small dust cup. How often would it need to be emptied? I have a dog that sheds constantly and I tried an off brand stick cordless from Amazon but it didn’t pick up anything hardly.
Got the shark vertex 2 years ago and love it but I’ve had to replace the dust cup once and need to again already as it loses its ability to fully clasp shut and falls open at random while I’m using it
Great video! Can you confirm that the only difference between the IZ682H and the IZ462H is that one comes with 2 batteries and the other just 1 battery? But same power/features/rating other than the battery options? Thanks.(I will purchase thru your link)
My shark died after 2 years. The main power unit works fine, but the wiring that makes the nozzle head turn on and off is faulty now and it only turns on at a specific angle. I've taken the whole head apart and can't find out how to fix it at all.
@@max_pin the vertex pro is the newer version of the p50, which sat stagnant for 4 years until the vertex pro came out. shark doesnt update there stuff like dyson every year. im upset that with the old f80 ion flex you could buy a powered multi tool, a wall mount which charged the unit and much more. aLL THe newer vacuums have almost no cool accessories like the ionflex did. i had to make my own wall mount for the shark stratos stick vack. the lift away doesnt need one of course.
So the real question is, which one would you pick between this and the Stratus which you’re both the identical price price? Is a strange company. Stealing sales from themselves.
Any suggestions please, I bought this vacuum and having an issue. It reads E2. I cleaned and changed filters and made sure there was no plugging thru tubing. Still not working. Batteries are charged. Anyone else having these issues. Any suggestions please would be great
Why don't you ever assess repairability in your reviews? Just about all of these cordless and mainstream brands are some of the most unrepairable junk you'll ever deal with. These brands don't even sell you wear parts like brush rolls or belts, it is totally unreasonable. Vacuum's have been repairable since the 2000's
I haven’t needed to repair my V11 in the 3.5 years I had it. Of course I take care of it and don’t do stuff like drop it😆. If I want to sell it then it would be a pain to clean the interior cyclone dust chamber which can’t be easily separated, a big downside to “unrepairability”. Parts like the bin rail, whole cyclone assembly, whole motor assembly, cleaner head wheels and cleaner head rubber/plastic can be bought separately out of warranty as shown in support videos not accessible through TH-cam but through warranty registration. At least with Dyson, their machines seem to be unrepairable because of how difficult it is to find separate individual parts, with the machine essentially being multiple modules which are assembled together. If there is damage, you replace the whole module instead of the specific relevant parts in that module. They are repairable, you just have to contact Dyson to purchase those modules separately, but you can’t buy individual parts(for example just the motor electrical system by itself instead of the motor and handle module).
Is Filter replacement much of a consideration? I'm keen to see what's the best out of vacuums where they have washable filters and how they stack up against those where filters do have to be replaced
So you are now saying this Vertex Pro is now the best mid level vacuum. I purchased the Stratos because you said that the Stratos was the best mid level vacuum for 2023.
