    Thank you everyone who entered the contest. There were so many interesting entries, it was really hard to decided on the winners, especially the first place.
    Those who won will be contacted via email a couple of days after this video is published, to not spoil the surprise.
    I'm also planning to show a list of honorable mentions in another video, since there is a lot of cool stuff.
    Special thanks to my patrons who helped with this, particularly Neiot (who came up with the idea and got it started), Quinn, Vaughn, and Blargedy. I also appreciate all the other patrons who help out with covering the costs in running this channel.

    • @williamnixon3994
      @williamnixon3994 4 ปีที่แล้ว +50

      It probably wasn't used for line infantry because of it being extremely complex to make compared to making a spearblade, which is basically a large dagger blade stuck onto the end of a wooden stick

    • @dowdpride1
      @dowdpride1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      I imagine primarily because it would require training and a specific fighting style to use effectively, and lends itself more to individual combat, wheras a spear is basically "pointy end go in bad guy" and its super easy to use as a group

    • @nerfer200
      @nerfer200 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The Mancatcher comes to mind when I look at the Cooper Khopesh, though I can also see why it would actually be more of either a tortures tool or an executioner type weapon

    • @project4061
      @project4061 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When you breakdown the blade shape, an remember what most pole arms were designed as, the main blade would have been extremely difficult to shape the blade. The actual kopesh was thick to help with the shaping, and the Cooper design had a much thinner profile, which could break off while forging.

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The older, rounded form was also used in Bulgaria, Macedonia, Ukraine and Russia. But this so-called angular variant was used only in Croatia, between years 1100 and 1965 (Vatican II). The text in the video is mostly gibberish, with some English words. The Glagolitic script is totally unsuitable for English, but works great for most Slavic languages.

    This makes me wish I'd gotten around to finishing mine. I had a few sword drawings I liked from some years ago that I wanted to refine into a final design, but I lost faith in the project as I was trying to figure out the handle and guard. It shared some of the things you mentioned as very positive, so now I think it maybe would have been well received.
    Nevertheless, I enjoyed seeing the winners, they were well deserving, this was a really cool competition.
