I'm running a pair of these in my basement 25' x 10' workshop. I work from home in there 8 hrs a day and these speakers never get fatiguing. I have them on stands which put the tweeters about 37" off the ground. I am standing up and moving about the shop about 80% of the day. They always sound great no matter where I am in the room. I'm powering them with a vintage Realistic receiver that puts out 45 WPC. This is enough power for background music and will even rock pretty loud if I want. But I would recommend more power if you are going to be critically listening at higher volumes. I briefly tried these for critical listening in my largish living room with 150WPC McIntosh amp and did end up eqing the treble down a few db with a high shelf filter to tame some very slight brightness. I also noticed that slight lack of presence compared to my reference speakers (Tekton Double Impacts). But overall they sounded amazing considering their small size and affordable price. It wasn't really an apples to apples comparison, trying to compare them with the Tektons which are much larger and more efficient speakers that are capable of serious volume. But overall they performed quite well for critical listening. They are absolutely perfect in my workshop and I have zero plans to ever change them out for anything else. I would highly recommend these speakers.
Thanks for returning man, we dont want the speakers, we want YOU!!! Hope all is well in your life. much love, thanks again. Ive been watching all your videos since you got back
I own the KLH Model 5 and the DBR62. The Elac is an amazing, well engineered, and easy to listen to speaker with broad sound stage. I drive them with NAD 50 watts a side and it's a great combination. I use an SVS SB2000 sub and the combination is just wonderful.
So how does the KLH Model 5 sound in comparison ? You can’t just drop a bomb saying you have the KLH 5’s and then not comment on it..(in other words, your additional input places the Elac speaker in its proper perspective. Just bc the 5’s are three or four times as expensive, doesn’t mean a comparison won’t be useful info).
Another great value was the Teac Sierra, looks just like the KLH does now. Was $400 a pair in 1990. I wore them out with an HH Scott LK-72, 11 tube A/B integrated amp. Great sound though... Until...
I hv this speaker for 1 year now. And it keep growing and upgrading it sonic quality everytime im adding or changing any bit of thing in thr system. If it positioned well and paired well it can sounded holographic and hv depth and amaZing center image
I am pairing them with Audiolab 6000a (50wpc), I coudn't be happier. No problem with efficency I listen at low / Moderate volume. Great soundstage, clarity and tonal balance.
These are on sale regularly for around 300€/pair, and for that kind of money they're an easy recommendation. Versatile sound profile, decent looks and not too big, really decent choice for most people.
Thank you Erin for your incisive review. You have a new subscriber in the UK. I have just purchased these speakers for a less than perfect setup. Paired with a Wiim Amp and a Q acoustics 3060s sub. Wall mounted and tilted down in a 13ft x 20ft room! The Wiim Amp has exceeded my expectations in making these speakers shine! A massive improvement over my 30 year old Mission 761i's and Pioneer A300. I wouldn't have had the confidence to do it without you, full respect to you.
Great video Erin, thank you. I have owned a pair of DBR62's for about the last year and I love them. I had them hooked to an Emotiva TA1 with an ELAC subwoofer (the one you tested and liked) and they sounded really nice. It wasn't until I put my vintage Bryston 3B amplifier (100 wpc+) in the signal chain that they really came alive! Now, I love them! LOL! BTW, I have the treble at -2 to take some of the grit out of the high end. I noted, in your data graphs, what it was that I was hearing. Thank you again Erin.
Did you hear that grit with the Bryston? I also notice some sharpness in the highs that bugs me. Playing with peek eq but haven't nailed it. Just using Fosi Audio v3 class d amp. Wondered if another amp would fix it. I also wonder if removing the tweeter grill will help. It isn't easy to do so I haven't tried yet.
I finally got a pair of these about 2 months ago [Black Friday sale]. Been wanting to get a pair after seeing a lot of good reviews. I purchased these to replace the Debut B6.2 I've had for over 2 years for my Tube Amp/Turntable set up. I did a comparison of the speakers and the DBR62's are definitely an upgrade over the B6.2's. Took the time to replace the fiber sheets and install damping foam into the cabinets, seems to help with bass response.
Good review!!!! I've found that the ELAC DBR62 is virtually (90% +/ -) as good and provides the same "musical enjoyment" as my previous $4K Monitors from a well-known English MFG. - maybe this is because of my room/ room acoustics? Anyway, each time I listen to them I always enjoy them, glad I got them. BTW, I'm sure there are others in this price range that are equal to/ or better, but I've got no urge/ need to look further, which is a good thing
I had the Klipsch RP 600. Impressive at first, but quickly fatiguing. It seemed harsh to me, and muddy mids, sent it back. Got the Triangle br03. Sounded thin, anemic, and felt cheaply constructed. Sent them back. Got the dbr62. Finally, a good sounding speaker. I've had them for a couple years now and I've never felt they were missing anything. I guess neutral is what I like.
Same here... Elac 602€, QA 400€ Am still debating myself if it's worth to shell out 50% more?! How was your experience thus far? And what amp you are using? (am having yamaha a-s501 btw)
Yamaha rx-v377 running these with a pioneer 8" sub, and they sound amazing. Easily the best speakers I've ever had. No power issues, even if I crank it. Small 12x16x8 room. Bought them a few years ago on a whim used off Amazon. Already had multiple Andrew Jones speakers, so I figured it was worth a shot. I've had zero desire to buy anything else since.
I wanted someone to review this after that hype (the time when all the youtubers suddenly have reviews on it as pushed by Elac) ... lets hear a unbiased review...
Great review Erin and love the price/performance of these speakers! I actually had a pair and loved them, but didn't have a spot for them in the house. Side note, I think it's totally fine to put affiliate links for stuff you recommend, not shilling at all, more of an Erin seal of approval!
I purchased this speakers yesterday,…..after many other spekars at this price range and above,…I am very impressed with its performance and I have to say that I was underestimating measurments, but I changed my opinion
Erin, I bought these speakers after watching this and your comparison between different Elac speakers. I absolutely love them. I am driving them with denon x1700h and are very happy to be driven at high volumes. Thank you so much!
This would probably be a good speaker for use with one of these little 3255 amps because you can really take advantage of their 4ohm output capability. I have a Fosi V3 and it’s pretty impressive with low impedance speakers
@ErinsAudioCorner honesty I've learned so much from your channel. My hobby is speaker building so your channel has been invaluable. E.g. in this review you mention the dip around 4k, then the in room estimate actually showing the speaker may be a bit forward in that region. That is a very subtle and popentially counter intuitive point bc it would be easy to think of the dip causing the opposite listening experience. Hope I've made myself clear. Awesome work dude. Cheers from the UK.
Erin thanks for another great review. Appreciate that your reviews combine both measurements and your listening experience. Unfortunately I can’t make it to the convention. Be interested who wins the Elacs. You’re going to be very popular. Enjoy!
@@ErinsAudioCorner And yes! This is what we're getting in a few months (on back order from Crutchfield). Thanks so much. Once my wife Mary saw them, she was "YES!!!"
I think your review was spot on. I have these for over a year and I still don't love the sound. I will try them again with your subwoofer and placement advice. Thank you!
I only had them borrowed for a few days and they don't really blossom if the amp is on the weaker side of things. It's not a lively sound because it's quite neutral
I have a 3 channel DB62 setup and it's a nobrainer part. The Harman influence comes through here. It's a good foundation. There's very little reason to spend more in a "normal" room. If the DBR62 is a better version of the same then right on but fix your room before you go bigger. The impedance/sensitivity on the DBR is close to unacceptable. You have to add $1k+ to this purchase for Crown, ATI, or Bryston.
Yes, I have found you need a beefy amplifier to get body and control with the DBR62. I have run them with a 45w Onkyo A-9010: okay, but needs more body in the lower midrange. A 70w class D Hypex NC122MP: more body and balance. A hybrid 50w tube amp: now we're talking: amazing bass punch and body. Equivalent impedance dips down to 2.4 ohms, which is a tough load. We have also noticed a bump in the upper midrange with some amp that may bring some presence. I think it has a bit recessed top-end, maybe that's why I believe some people deem this speaker boring, which absolutely is not, because you get a great bass and midrange when properly amplified. I love this speaker.
Erin, thank you for the review and your thoughts. How would you compare them to the recently reviewed Philharmonic Ceramic Mini which you seemed to also really enjoy?
Oh, man. That’s a really good question. I would take the ELAC simply because of the output level I need at my distance. The Phil used a smaller woofer and tends to overextend out the volumes I need without a subwoofer. Otherwise, it’s a tough call.
I tried these, and found the sound to be too plain for me. There was nothing that stuck out as great. Everything is good though. I suppose they need to be EQ'd. But I wasn’t using any. I will be soon though. So maybe a revisit. I honestly hated having to send them back. I think they are some the best looking speakers I’ve had in my room. And look way better in person IMO. The pictures don’t really do them justice. Thanks for by great review. BTW I would love to see you review the Elac Carina bookshelf. I have a pair, and they’re really good. Andrew Jones definitely knows what he’s doing. ✌️
Great review. Thanks! I had these for several months, they sound good. I just didn't love them though. Ended up selling them. I bought Martin Logan 15i speakers on clearance. I've had them a while now, I am very pleased with them, they are not sylabant like the newer 10 and XT version you just reviewed. Try to check out a pair if you get a chance.
@@nc3419 Yes, but darn good! Imaging, staging, depth and width are great. Good tone and nuance. I preferred the sound of the 15i to all following speakers that I tried: The Goldenear BRX; Polk R100; Emotiva B1+; Elac DBR62; ELAC Uni-Fi 2.0 UB52; Wharfedale Diamond 12.1; Triangle BRO2. The 15i is very musical and satisfying to me. I am using them with an SVS SB-1000 Pro subwoofer set to crossover at 53 hertz.
@@scottbennett3119 That's quite a comparative list. I could add that I like it better than the MA Silver 100s I tried. Both have Al woofers but the 100s were too much in your face and threw everything at you all at once. Upper mids and highs could get jumbled too. The 15i is subdued enough to be both exciting and still smooth with good separation. I have Triangle Zetas (which I preferred over the Borea 2) and while both are different, I like both. The Zetas are really musical, less dense sounding than the 15i but still more sibilant, but I an getting used to the sound of the 15i with music. At first, I preferred the Zetas for music but the 15i is growing on me and is fantastic for watching movies. Glad they went on sale as I was considering Neat Petites and even Falcon M10s (still would like to have those). Saved me a couple grand. Another option could be the Philharmonic Ceramic Mini. Outside of that, I really wasn't interested in much of anything else. Also considered the Elac Carina when it was under $800 but prefer the look of the 15i with wood veneer. I mean for the form factor, build and SQ, what's not to like? Also, easy to drive where most of the others I mentioned may not be. I've got better gear but am listening to the 15i using a Keces E40 and an upgraded Aune X8 and am fully satisfied and it didn;t burn a hole in my pocket.
I also considered the MA Silver 100s, but after getting the 15i's didn't feel the need. I also have the newest Aune x8. I think it's a really good sounding dac. More dimensional and musical compared to other dacs in this price range, I preferred it by a significant margin compared to Geshelli labs J2 with AKM chip. Ended up selling the J2.
@scottbennett3119 Surprised you preferred the aune over the geshelli the way it was hyped up. By itself, I found the aune x8 average for its price but adding the sparkos opamp really transforms it to a much higher level and it matches if not exceeds my d70s. At least on rca fixed out. Not so impressive on variable out rca, perhaps better on XLR. That 15i is nice even if it doesn't measure flat.
Another great evaluation video Erin, but I can’t help but think how you missed the opportunity to comment on comparisons to other Elac bookshelf speakers that you may be familiar with, such as 5.2, 6.2, or even 41’s. At the very least it would’ve been nice to know what other speakers are in a similar price range as the dBR 62s and why they fall short relative to, or actually, why they may be preferred by some relative to the dBR 62’s. I know this all seems a little sales and marketing ish sort of stuff, but as much as I like the technical, I’d like to hear your opinions, based on your experiences, as well.👨🏻
@@ErinsAudioCorner 😎Fair enough, Erin.🤔Actually, come to think of it, 15 minutes or thereabouts seems a good max time limit for a TH-cam video in my opinion; some people get too carried away with long videos, and I don’t think that’s ultimately a good thing. I think it’s best to keep them shorter, since there’s a lot better chance that the whole video is watched and absorbed, and puts less stress on the viewer, (and the content creator!) because of the plethora of stuff that is available to grab attention these days. 👨🏻 👍
@@ErinsAudioCorner Selfishly, I'd love this video! I have the elac debut 2.0 and I really like them. I always thought the reference debut's would be a good upgrade path.
Hi.Erin's Am thinking of getting the these speaker to replace my old vintage Missions 761 and they are on speaker they are on stand about 1m from the floor the room is about 45sqm. Will ELACs DBR62 be Better then Indiana line tesi261 all opinions will be great as I've never tested or had listened to this type of Brands before. I definitely like the way they look and I do agree that the price is great of the ELACs DBR62.
Hi Erin, I have these speakers and I find them to be quite bright, could you recommend a good strating point high shelf filter to tame the highs based on your measurements and experience with this speaker? thanks!
Measures pretty fricken well. I would like it to go lower by a few Hz. The extra brightness Erin noticed would drive me a bit nuts. I wonder how the Philharmonic product with 6.5" midwoofer would sound like against Elac, knowing Dennis will try every possible trick he can find to make great sounding loudspeaker.
It's interesting how we're starting to call things how are they supposed to be as good. Goes to show how bad many other designs are unfortunately. This is just a nice textbook speaker, nothing to comment on, just how it should be. I personally wouldn't use the phrase "definition of good" for this, but more as "the definition of how it should be". Mostly because there are a bunch of improvements that can be made as well. Thanks for the review and all the effort as always!
I see “how it should be” as how you see “definition of good”. Kinda interesting how perspectives differ and goes to show how it’s hard to make titles that aren’t perceived as clickbait to some while completely honest to others.
Folks, per the end of the video, you’ll have to “come up to me” and ask for these in person at Audio Advice Live. Not in the comments here. That’s where the “come up to me and ask” part comes from. Audio Advice Live info: live.audioadvice.com/ Crutchfield Affiliate Link: howl.me/ckaQ1BALXxL ^ will earn me a small commission at no additional cost to you
great review. I combined them with a Yamaha R-N803 and a Mivoc Hype G2 subwoofer, but I can't find the right crossover point for this subwoofer, perhaps you could help me find the most suitable crossover value for these speakers. A thousand thanks
I have these and the center channel in my home theater. I got them before the price went up on them and everything else. I like them because they do well in 2 channel music also. I needed a speaker that can be put pretty close to a wall with my small living room.
Hi Erin. Which speaker is better in your opinion Wharfedale Linton 85 or Elac? I remember you praised Linton as very good speaker and it seems to me Wharfedale is better overall.
That low impedance seems is really a big problem :| If you don't have a very expensive amp it must be much less dynamic (since I read around people say this about this speaker - not enough dynamic), and many AVRs don't offer pre-outs if you don't buy expensive ones (and then on top of that you need an expensive amp). Suddenly the speaker is not so affordable anymore. I wonder if that's the reason some people say it's bad at low volumes. But it sure looks beautiful and has nice wide soundstage (according to the data)! I hope you'll review its "counterpart" the Uni-Fi 2.0 UB52 someday
Affiliate links are fine, it's not like it costs the buyer a cent. It's the seller (the store) that gets a little less, which gets kicked back to the person with the link that steered people to them in the first place. I'd say it's win win for everybody. Great review. Except now I'm thinking of spending on these speakers. 😬
New Sub here! Please continue doing this kind of review. Just found your channel when searching about Elac. Coz i’m planning to buy the DBR62. Btw, any recommendations for integrated amp with DAC, will be using it mostly for music, watching movie is a plus. Thanks!
A solid design, technically proficient ... good price. Everything you want. That's what contracting w/AJ for design work represents; an ideal arrangement of tradeoffs at any given price range. This iteration, the aesthetic was killer. In achieving his performance targets, ... physics and all, he payed in the load characteristics. It benefits from as much current possible. Above all else, a killer offering.
Great video, lots of useful information. Have you had the chance to listen to and/or test the Heco Aurora 300? They seem to compete in the same category.
Amplifier distortion doesn’t sound the same as speaker distortion. There can be differing factors. 3% is sort of the “alright, this is where I’m gonna say “warning zone””. But even that is not set in stone because music/source material and frequency can effect audibility. There is no hard line for it. And frankly, I don’t pay much more attention to it than a common sense check to see when the low end of a woofer is going nuts or a tweeter is crossed too low.
The DBR6.2 seemed to be a better looking version of the DB6.2. They tastefully edited that gawd awful front bass port and classed the design up! I am happy to have entered this money sucking hobby with Mr. Jones’ OG Debut B6, an excellent pair that I have kept and continue to enjoy 6 years later. I enjoy them with all kinds of music and amplification. The best $165 I’ve ever spent in speakers.
No shame in your game E. There’s nothing wrong at all with taking advantage of the affiliate links. If I can afford new speakers, I would definitely use your link. I would have checked your channel for reviews of it first before buying.
funny thing I found: I have had these speakers for several years, and always enjoyed them until I "did the right thing" and got some real speaker stands. This elevated the height of the tweeter by about 3 inches and holy crap they were way too harsh on the high end. I had also acquired a new amp around that time and I blamed the amp initially (sent it back, even). But something still seemed out of whack. So using my old amp I ran some tests with a really basic app, and it was returning results that were so much worse than the last time I tested. I couldn't figure it out, as they were placed and toed in *exactly* the same as the last time I tested, except for the height (which I was still forgetting). Some of the measurements dropped from an "A" to a "C"! I got so frustrated that I just put them back on the same side tables I had them on before I got the stands and bingo - back to a really lovely soundstage with clear but not harsh higher frequencies. Retested and got the original "A-" overall results I had before. Color me amazed that this small change in height (also the material of the "stand" must be in play) made such a difference.
Hi Erin, I looked back at the ELAC UBR62 review you did. I think it had a higher preference score and better horizontal and vertical radiation, however in general it seemed like you weren’t that impressed with it. Can you give your thoughts on comparing between the two speakers and data? Guess they are so close in performance the cost is justified?
Oh, goodness, I don’t even remember enough to compare without looking at my notes. I thought I remembered liking the UBR62 but I seem to recall a couple nonlinear attributes that bothered me. This is all from memory, though.
I actually bought the Elac UBR 62 based on Erin's review. He spoke highly of them, and I think they're fantastic. Deep sound, fairly neutral presentation, with a wide soundstage. A friend of mine owns the DBR 62, and I think the UBR IS better. They sound more spacious and three dimensional.
How good are those speakers as nearfield on a desk, medium/low volume? I'm unsure if i need to get a studio monitor like kali lp6v2 or passive hifi speaker. I have both a dac (smsl c200)'and a amp+dac (smsl ao300) if I get the kali i'll send back the amp
I use exactly that setup and it works great. They sound at least as good as revel m16, and they are front ported so they work in a cabinet better than most rear ported bookshelf speakers.
@@ErinsAudioCorner Thanks for replying! and no not yet (they are out of stock) so deciding perhaps 3x Revel M16 or the typical 3x KEF Q350 for movies in a small apartment.... happy holidays!
Hey Erin, I have KLH Kendall floor standers rated to 250 watts 8 ohms and reported 96db sensitivity. I listen at 9’ in a 14’ x 18’ room. Should my integrated amp be at least 50 watts? Was considering Yamaha A-S701 or refurbished Marantz PM8006 / Music Fidelity M3Si / Arcam SA20. Thx
I’d try to verify that sensitivity. If I’m being honest, based on my experience, I’m sure it’s a BS number. That or it has no bass. But maybe it’s not. From there you can get a better idea of the power you need. If it really is 96dB then 50w is plenty.
I have a couple questions. I am totally blind and can not read the data. I hear some ringing or tizzyness around 6 to 7 khz. Would removing the grill help? Can you suggest a peek filter setting to help? Please. Trying to fix it by ear but can't nail it. I can't tell if it is the speaker, the amplifier, and or the room. Only have a Fosi Audio V3 amp now. Different dacs didn't help. Also. What is the bass extension frequency? Not using a sub and don't want to boost what they can't produce well. I hear about f3 and f10 bass response. What is that? I'm mostly tuning by ear with Equalizer APO and Peter's Equalizer (Peace). Can't use most measurement tools as they are graphical and I can't operate them without being able to see the screen. Guess that was 3 questions. Thanks for your reviews.
My Elac DBR62 Reference speakers after two years breaking in, play down to 30 htz, filling the room with bass that you can feel sitting on the couch, 8' from the speakers. I can feel the bass at 28 htz. The amp is class D with tube preamp, Douk ST-01 Pro. No sub on my system. My setup is not standard, so other rooms may yield other results. Dimensions may help explain why my setup sounds so good. Room is 13' deep, 12' wide. Speaker placement; Left, 50" from back wall, 20" from left wall. Right; 16" from back wall, 28" from right wall. Both speakers tilted up 5 degrees, cross streamed 10 degrees toed in, on speaker stands ear level. A 7' couch is parallel to speakers and TV. Sources are; IBM PC, I5 Chip, DVD, CD, Smartphones on WLAN, and Sony Bravia Smart Inet TV, copper connections. Being older I only hear to about 15khz, but still know what a real cymbal sounds like. Elacs sound real to me. Power with some tubes helps all speakers sound better to me. Elac Reference likes some power. They sound great to me, better than my B&W's at 5x the cost. Pretty=pricy, not better. Walnut Elacs look great to me. Thank you Andrew Jones, and thanks for this honest review.
A note about volume; if you like really loud volume in a big room, you probably need bigger speakers. I get great sound, but at these levels; Volume and Decibel levels in my room at 3 meters; Mixer range is 0 to 100. DB AVerage, DB PeaK; --------------------------- vol 25 mixer = 66 av, 73 pk db vol 30 mixer = 72 av, 79 pk db vol 35 mixer = 76 av, 86 pk db (Amp is set to 90% Volume). Trying to save hearing...
It's not really about ability to hear things. Distortion varies with volume. It depends on things like the size of your room, listening distance or whatever causes people to choose a volume level.
Don't let affiliate links bother you. If the speaker sucks we aren't buying it. If we like it, it's easier to just use the link and instantly buy the damn things and it costs us nothing and it helps you out.
I got their big brother, the UBR62’s for $780 delivered to my door, $80 more than these retail for. Great speakers, just overall smooth and easy to listen to with good detail

So how does the KLH Model 5 sound in comparison ?

I finally got a pair of these about 2 months ago [Black Friday sale]. Been wanting to get a pair after seeing a lot of good reviews. I purchased these to replace the Debut B6.2 I've had for over 2 years for my Tube Amp/Turntable set up. I did a comparison of the speakers and the DBR62's are definitely an upgrade over the B6.2's. Took the time to replace the fiber sheets and install damping foam into the cabinets, seems to help with bass response.
I'm looking to buy this soon! How much did you get them for on Black Friday?🙇🏾♂️🙏🏽
@@Zelldinchtjr I paid $525 + tax.
This is a professional review/test!!Very pricey in my country 640 euros.I bought Q3030I 429 euros.
Same here... Elac 602€, QA 400€
Am still debating myself if it's worth to shell out 50% more?!
I run a pair of these in my garage with a Bluesound powernode. Quite enjoy them!
I wanted someone to review this after that hype (the time when all the youtubers suddenly have reviews on it as pushed by Elac) ... lets hear a unbiased review...
No hype here, these speakers are the real deal. A steal of a deal. I have B&W's also, I know.
I'm using them as surrounds at eat levels and they seems to sound great, at least post Audyssey calibration.
Appreciate your detailed reviews. I have the DBR62s and happy with those. I'd love to see a review of the towers - DFR52.
Glad to hear you like them. (Pun intended) 😂
This would probably be a good speaker for use with one of these little 3255 amps because you can really take advantage of their 4ohm output capability. I have a Fosi V3 and it’s pretty impressive with low impedance speakers
Not just a review but a great tutorial. Great job Erin.
Hey! I appreciate that! I’m always happy to hear when fellow nerds like nerding out. 😀
Enjoy!
+1 for the tweeter guard.
Hmmmmmmm. This might be a winner for our soon to be renovated master bedroom. Thanks for the link! Thank you for ALL that you do. I'm learning a lot.
Thank you!
Room size and listening level first. Then, aesthetics. I have the minis. Friggin awesome. But I’m in a small room at below 80db.
I like mine too. Not perfect but well worth it, especially at the discounted price..
I know this all seems a little sales and marketing ish sort of stuff, but as much as I like the technical, I’d like to hear your opinions, based on your experiences, as well.👨🏻
Good idea. That can be done maybe in a separate video.
@@shipsahoy1793 yeah, I try to shoot for around 15 minutes or so.

@@ErinsAudioCorner Selfishly, I'd love this video! I have the elac debut 2.0 and I really like them. I always thought the reference debut's would be a good upgrade path.
I put mine next to tv, sitting on TV bench. I wonder how much it would affect the sound compared to having them properly on the speaker stands
Hey Erin, if using an SVS subwoofer would you prefer these over the UB52's?
A lot of good things going on with these loudspeakers. Really digging the graphs and your explanations. Great job.
Good to see you back at it Erin
Been wondering about these for a long time. Amir really liked them.
Well done man , very intelligent content 👍
Much appreciated
Which do you recommend..? This Elac DBR62 or a Polk R100...?? Which of them has the widest spreading of higher frequencies..?
Hi Erin, I have these speakers and I find them to be quite bright, could you recommend a good strating point high shelf filter to tame the highs based on your measurements and experience with this speaker? thanks!
BRB flying from europe to ask Erin for these
Lol
Hey Erin, thank you for informative review. Irrespective of the price difference, how would you compare Elac DBR62 with Wharfedale Linton?
I have same interest 😊
th-cam.com/video/pJp5jFyHqSw/w-d-xo.html
in this he describes the Linton as a bit laidback
Hey Erin....Looking for your review on Polk Elight Signature Series and Monitor Audio Bronz 100 review...... great work....keep it up
Measures pretty fricken well.
The Phil BMR Monitor goes to 30ish in room. It’s a large stand mount.
@@ErinsAudioCorner yes definitely 👍
Wasnt happy with em at low volume myself.
Agree with the whole review, at a sale could not resist trying em out

Hi Erin, would you review ELAC Debut Reference DCR52? thanks,
great review. I combined them with a Yamaha R-N803 and a Mivoc Hype G2 subwoofer, but I can't find the right crossover point for this subwoofer, perhaps you could help me find the most suitable crossover value for these speakers. A thousand thanks
I watched the video again and I seem to have understood to set the subwoofer at 80Hz to relieve the midrange, so I followed your suggestion. Thank you
I have these and the center channel in my home theater. I got them before the price went up on them and everything else. I like them because they do well in 2 channel music also. I needed a speaker that can be put pretty close to a wall with my small living room.
Yeah, IIRC these used to be $550, right?
@@ErinsAudioCorner I think they started at $599 but went up to $699 retail but I imagine by now they can probably be found on sale occasionally.
Hi Erin. Which speaker is better in your opinion Wharfedale Linton 85 or Elac? I remember you praised Linton as very good speaker and it seems to me Wharfedale is better overall.
A great bookshelf option at this price point - especially if you're looking for something aesthetically pleasing
Any recommendation on ATMOS speakers to pair with DBR62s?
thanks for the Review, love the data you provide. Hope you review the Polk R700 Q Acoustics Concept 50, would love that data :)
These or Revel M16?
I wonder if Amir will approve of the title of this video 😀
Affiliate links are fine, it's not like it costs the buyer a cent. It's the seller (the store) that gets a little less, which gets kicked back to the person with the link that steered people to them in the first place. I'd say it's win win for everybody. Great review. Except now I'm thinking of spending on these speakers. 😬
In Canada now, these speakers are almost $1200. Is there other speakers any better at that price? (CDN Dollars...the Northern Peso)
Hey Erin, do the ELAC BBR62 still available? I want to have them according to your great review. Thanks !!!
Great video, lots of useful information. Have you had the chance to listen to and/or test the Heco Aurora 300? They seem to compete in the same category.
Not yet!
Erain, how did you get 3% threshold distortion level, why such high level? This means amplifier wirh 1% THD would sound quite good.
And it would. Thd doesn’t correlate to clean sound in reality. Plenty of highly regarded tube amps have a ton of thd.
Would someone kindly describe why I might want these over my Elac ub52s that I am not overly crazy about when mixed with subs?
The DBR6.2 seemed to be a better looking version of the DB6.2. They tastefully edited that gawd awful front bass port and classed the design up! I am happy to have entered this money sucking hobby with Mr. Jones’ OG Debut B6, an excellent pair that I have kept and continue to enjoy 6 years later. I enjoy them with all kinds of music and amplification. The best $165 I’ve ever spent in speakers.
I would love to experience a well rounded non fatiguing speaker!
No shame in your game E. There’s nothing wrong at all with taking advantage of the affiliate links. If I can afford new speakers, I would definitely use your link. I would have checked your channel for reviews of it first before buying.
Would the Rotel A10MKII have any trouble driving these speakers?
funny thing I found: I have had these speakers for several years, and always enjoyed them until I "did the right thing" and got some real speaker stands.
Can the tweeter grill be removed?
Yes, I have them without it full-time 🙂
I have the elac dbr62 and was thinking of upgrading to wharfedale linton , now I am thinking if thats a big enough jump?
Excellent review.I chose Q3030i for my ht.Elac dbr 62 are cheep looking,if you get close enough.And very pricey 640 euros!!Q3030i 429 euros.
Audiolab 6000a / Rotel a12 / Arcam A15. Which of these would pair well with these Elac speakers?
Which power don you recomend to use? I was thinking of marantz pm6007, 45w@8ohm and 60w@4ohm per channel. Would be that enough for these?
@@ErinsAudioCornerI'm also curious to know this! Thanks for helping us out with all our speaker queries, you're doing a great job
For desktop? Get the Kali.
Erin, I know you said that in general an AVR won't drive these speakers, but can the Marantz SR-7015 drive these speakers effectively?
I use exactly that setup and it works great. They sound at least as good as revel m16, and they are front ported so they work in a cabinet better than most rear ported bookshelf speakers.
Would it be recommended to use a third DBR62 as a center, since all ELAC centers seem meh (even the 3-way)? Trying to decide a 3.0 setup for 1000
If you’re using them for L/R then it makes sense to use it for C as well, yes.
Thanks a lot Erin, I guess if they fudged it a couple of decibels, it is still on the efficient side.
DBR62 vs Evo 4.2 which one do you pick for sound quality alone? thankss
These or the Polk R200's?
The Tears for Fears album on your wall . . . I use the track 'The Working Hour' to audition speakers. Just because it's amazing.

Hey you still have those speakers?
Why no Monitor Audio speaker reviews?
A note about volume; if you like really loud volume in a big room, you probably need bigger speakers. I get great sound, but at these levels; Volume and Decibel levels in my room at 3 meters;
Mixer range is 0 to 100.

Hey, I’m a subscriber…so you still have those speakers available? I’d love them!
You say don’t use AVR due to impedance but maybe also don’t use a stereo amp bridged into mono.
It's not really about ability to hear things. Distortion varies with volume. It depends on things like the size of your room, listening distance or whatever causes people to choose a volume level.
I meant at the louder volumes. But yes, I agree with you. 👍
Don't let affiliate links bother you. If the speaker sucks we aren't buying it. If we like it, it's easier to just use the link and instantly buy the damn things and it costs us nothing and it helps you out.
