I have both. I can confirm most of these observations, but I think room plays a bigger role than many realize. I have mine in a fairly small room and have a been happy with both. For example, both are able to throw sound effects out to my side when watching movies, although I think the Elac does a slightly better job of this. I do get a decent phantom channel run my Elacs, but it is a little more distinct from the Klipsch. In my observation, the Elacs do create the described large soundstage at the front plane of the speakers, but do throw sound from movies beyond that plane. The Klipsch sound like the sound is coming from a couple feet in front of the speakers (I’m guessing that’s the horns at work) and are also capable of 3D effects. Tonality, there is a really interesting distinction. The Elacs have the full spectrum of sound, but the Klipsch feel a bit hollow in the midrange during AB testing (I suspect EQ could help this). For example, while AB testing I was listening to Johnny Cash Solitary Man, Johnny’s vocals sounded artificially low on the Klipsch compared to the Elacs and Tom Petty’s harmonies sounded thinner and more shrill. The Klipsch also feel like someone turned up the reverb. I heard one reviewer compare different speakers saying using one is like listening to the music while the other is listening to the speaker, which in my experience applies here. If I were to sum up their differences, I would say listening to the Elac’s is like listening in close quarters in the same room as the performer, where the Klipsch feel like in in a concert listening through a good PA system. Both are great, just depends on whether you want to have an up close and personal (and accurate) experience with your music or if you want to relive your last concert. Honestly, you really can’t go wrong with either.

Great review Sir. I was torn between these speakers. They are both EXCELLENT. I opted for the 600M-II and purchased them for $380 on Black Friday. I paired them with an Onkyo NR7100 and Klipsch SW12 Subwoofer. Let me tell you this. They are FABULOUS! I have ZERO regrets and I’m sure that I’d feel the same had I purchased the AWESOME offering from Elac. They are both EXCELLENT choices!

For sure, thanks for the positive feedback. Also Love the attitude, it seems like most people on the internet think everything must go one way or the other and can't appreciate when both options are good and it sometimes is just about preference that decides one way or the other.

Perfect work. This two models are two entry level most obvious candidates, and such detailed comparison should be a must for each serious audio channel. It's very valuable and needed comparison for anyone who is looking for this segment grear.
It is a shame that there is lack of such comparison in other channels and media. Robinson spent few seconds for such comparison which was joke. For Randy this comparison should be obvious to perform, but there is none. On other channels also. So at the moment this "small" channel did something what larger ones were not able, despite this should be first thing to do for each.
Very good work and very interesting conclusions. Tanks for your great work :) like and sub well earned :)

good comparison, thanks. I'm not using headphones, just my Bose computer speakers and I could clearly hear the difference. Elac was definitely more "vague", with less energy, Klipsch much more bright. No surprise really Klipsch has always been known for brightness. You would have to hear them in person to decide which you like best.

I was able to grab the 600's a few months ago on a flash deal, brand new from BH Photo for $299.00!!! So for my budget style system in a small room 10'x9' are perfect for myself. WiiM Ultra-fosi V3 monos- 600's and no sub (yet). Strictly music and mostly lower volumes (80% of the time) for reading and relaxing.

Appreciate the sound demos, very useful to listen the comparison between different speakers to be more sure at which one to buy. I don't know if you have listened the Elac DBR62, im thinking of it as an option aswell, if you tried it would you say it's worth it to go for that instead of the Debut 3.0?

    • @AV-Obsessed

Great review and comparisons. I like Klipsch sounds but can be fatiguing at times. They can make others speakers sound flat and boring. I tow them out, ie straight out, and I find their sound stage good and they disappear. Tow them in and I find them too bright.

JUST THINK ON IT FOR A LITTLE WHILE AND REMEMBER BE PATIENT AND YOU WILL ALWAYS FIND BOTTOM DOLLAR PRICE

Sound demos separate you from other channels. You could do 1 review video and separate video of the sound demos linked. I have both of these speakers and the Elacs gives me an experience I do not get from the Klipsch..which I like too.
Common Blue by Warpaint is a good test track for me bc the instruments are recorded really forward, great bass, drums and has dreamy female vocals.

Not that I need a direct comparison but what are your immediate thoughts on the new Kef Concerto vs the Klipsch 600 ii? Concerto grabbing a lot of attention, but for myself it would be a $1,300 or so upgrade, unless I sold the Klipsch.

    • @AV-Obsessed

Yeah, the Concerto is in a whole different league with deeper and better bass much more clarity in the mids and more natural highs, also with better imaging. The concerto is a great speaker but yes is much more expensive.
