Hey Kenny! Last year I started following some of your advices from youtube, and my number of stools dropped from 10-15 to 3-5 semiformed. Before that I was waking up every 45-60mins to go to the toilet. I just started my Biome Optima course, and I'm following it strictly. I am dedicated to finish the course, and to heal 100%. Right now I am not in a flare, with few bowel movements a day (2-3-4). I have never tried cabbage juice, so do you think I should add that to Biome Optima routine? PS. Thanks alot for everything you are doing for us. I would have my colon removed last year if there was not your awesome channel.
That is so great to hear that you've seen such improvement! Thanks a ton for sharing that, really appreciate it. As for cabbage juice,-while I'm not a doctor or a dietician and you should not start a cabbage juice routine without getting approval from your doctor beforehand- in my personal opinion I think it can be very helpful to add that to the routine, but it's not a necessity. Also, when I first started the cabbage juice routine in 2015 I did notice an increase in symptoms the first 3 days. I know some individuals who did not respond well to the cabbage juice and also saw an increase in symptoms but they didn't subside in 3 days the way my increase in symptoms did. So, I think you should be aware of that risk and I would advise that if you do decide to try a cabbage juice routine (after talking to your doctor about it), to discontinue the cabbage juice or at least significantly decrease the volume you consume each day if you do respond badly to it or see an increase in symptoms. It's not worth gritting your teeth and just pushing through with it if it's not actually giving you any benefits. So that being said, I really just want you to be aware of what you should be cautious about with cabbage juice. If you are feeling pretty good right now then I don't think it's a necessity. If you start to plateau and you want an extra boost so to speak, then it might be worth talking to your doctor about it and then implementing the protocol. I found it very helpful, but it's a bit more of an aggressive approach and some individuals don't react the same way that I did to it- and I'm not sure why that is.
@@molondon1808 Hello, i'm on 117th day of following protocol strictly. Right now I feel really good. I have 1-2 formed stools a day. There are days when I don't have bowel movement for 20-25+hours, and that's something that I could not imagine it's possible after years of having 10-15-20 bowel movements a day. My colon was devestated after 11 years of agressive UC, and I was so close to J pouch surgery, so I guess I needed a lot of time to get it back on the right place. I still have not had a 'cheat meal' (I think i could handle it easily, but I don't wanna do it because I am kinda traumatized and scared, and I don't wanna risk anything) Now, I am working out every day, playing two sports, sleeping well, my energy levels are highest I can remember. Even when I have a bad UC day, I don't have more than two bowel movements (they are just a bit less formed). I can say that I am 95% healed. I think I need another month or two so I could say I am 100% (I am still noticing improvements). To fully recover your gut microbiom it takes up to 6months, so I will continue with protocol for another two months, or even longer (I'm thinking about one year). Kenny did you take any prescribed drugs for UC while you were developing your gut repair protocol? An answer would be super helpful. Thanks a million! Mike
I discontinued all medication in the summer of 2015. I didn't start working on the gut microbiome optimizing protocol until August of 2016. I don't recommend anyone else discontinue their medication the way I did. I recommend that you work closely with your doctor and take medication as prescribed, and consider discussing how to implement a gut microbiome optimizing diet with your doctor as well. I think it's important to work closely with your doctor so that you can safely use both medication and nutrition to decrease the symptoms while working to correct the dysbiotic gut microbiome- which is what I understand to be the cause of IBD.
Thank you! Yeah if zucchini is not available then I would choose some other starchy foods like potatoes (sweet and regular), squash (if available), carrots, white rice is pretty good in my opinion as well (though it has minimal levels of prebiotics). Zucchini really doesn't have to be a focal point. The focal points for prebiotics in my opinion are just foods that have good amounts of soluble fiber. So mainly fruits and tubers/root vegetables. Hope that helps. My Biome Optima course has a whole updated list of what I consider to be "approved foods" or you can look through the boot camp episodes to get them as well. Hope that helps!
I have Ulcerative Colitis too and don't understand how you could drink or even heal with cabbage juice... I can't eat or drink fiber. Veggies of any kind and even tea (!) make me severely bloated and lead to more pain, blood and pus.. Sorry to write such digusting things but this is my life now hahaha
I'm in no way an expert, however, the juicing process eliminates all fibre present in its natural form. You gain the benefits of 'vitamin U', without the negative consequences of In soluble fibre passing through an inflamed G I tract.
Here is a pretty in-depth cabbage juice video that explains my understanding of how it works plus shows the actual routine that I followed: th-cam.com/video/OztkuD09GGU/w-d-xo.html
I think the answer to that question is yes, in my non-medical opinion. Definitely a good idea to double check with your doctor and get their approval beforehand. Hi Kenny. Have you looked into Fucoidan? Its a seaweed extract that has been shown by a growing number of peer reviewed scientific articles to ameliorate ulcerative colitis and other inflammatory conditions. The research looks promising but it doesn't seem mainstream yet and there is not much anecdotal accounts from people on the internet with uc who have tried it. I personally like visbiome, which is the original VSL#3 formulation. There was some sort of company split that ended up changing the VSL#3 formula, and then visbiome was created by whoever owned the rights to the original VSL#3 formulation. Weird history, but you can read more about it here: www.visbiome.com/pages/vsl-3-story/?gclid=CjwKCAiAo4OQBhBBEiwA5KWu_-wzcmDlfY_8sMINlRx8L1_LnjQuFNG0-gyoJKGP_1_-95lV68W7sxoC9RkQAvD_BwE. Some people have reported that visbiome doesn't work as good for them as the original VSL#3 did before the big split happened, but others have seen good results with visbiome. I haven't taken the new VSL#3 that is now using a different formula from the original VSL#3, so I'm really not sure from an anecdotal standpoint of how it stacks up with visbiome.
Thanks Kenny for replying! That’s really interesting to hear however Australia only has VSL#3 so I’ve purchased that one. Also do you take your probiotics on a empty stomach or with food ?

I'm in no way an expert, however, the juicing process eliminates all fibre present in its natural form. You gain the benefits of 'vitamin U', without the negative consequences of In soluble fibre passing through an inflamed G I tract.
Yep, great explanation!
Here is a pretty in-depth cabbage juice video that explains my understanding of how it works plus shows the actual routine that I followed: th-cam.com/video/OztkuD09GGU/w-d-xo.html
Hello kenny ,
Can we take whey protein and creatine or bcaa supplements with UC or IBD??
I think the answer to that question is yes, in my non-medical opinion. Definitely a good idea to double check with your doctor and get their approval beforehand. In my personal experience, high quality whey protein, creatine, and BCAAs have been fine for me. I prefer essential amino acids (EAAs) rather than just the BCAAs.
One of my favorite supplement companies is Kion, and here are some great sources for the supplements you asked about:
Whey protein: getkion.com/products/clean-protein
Creatine: getkion.com/products/creatine
EAAs: getkion.com/products/aminos-powder?_pos=2&_sid=fcd2a210b&_ss=r
Good article on EAAs vs. BCAAs by Kion here: getkion.com/blogs/all/eaas-vs-bcaas?kion2227_mqcoeg=6466585160.79127197162.379692643617.g&oexgads=kion2227&keyword=&matchtype=&network=g&device=c&ad_id=379692643617&gclid=CjwKCAiAo4OQBhBBEiwA5KWu_x-8JxnO0IaIET47hysXvbB86wCdyRcnQ7_JgWlrpXDVELxD4b8NThoCmmkQAvD_BwE.
Hope that helps!

Can you ferment omens milk with probiotics?
Perkenalkan saya dari Indonesia, mau tanya anda minum Kefir berapa tahun sampai sembuh, saya lagi minum Kefir susu sapi
Great video man!
Hey bro. I don't respond well to probiotics, they settle in the wrong places, (stomach and small intestine) which causes additional gastro intestinal problems and mental problems. any suggestions?
You could try rectal suppositories with probiotics there are several brands out there.
Too bad visbiome only ships within the US. Anyway I always appreciate your useful tips Kenny, thanks for your work.
Thank you for this.
I have just ordered some tonight to give it a go
Hey i just wanted to ask if you already tried it. Did you have good experience with it. Would be great if you could give an update. Thank you very much
@@hamzakeskin3293 yes I tried it Nd noticed less inflammation and more energy too! I had to stop because I got pregnant but my mum with rheumatoid arthritis tried it and notices an immediate difference. I really want to try again later and I definitely recxomend
@@neffykalks5021 thanks for your quick response thats very helpful can I ask what product you ordered cause I couldnt really decide whats best
@@hamzakeskin3293 definately the brand "life extension" fucoidon as they use the marinova fucoidon from the original suppliers
@@neffykalks5021 ahh okay. I had a hard time searching for the right one. Thank you very much!!!
Hey what’s your thoughts on the probiotic VSL# 3 ?

Since I could not stand kefir, I make coconut water kefir, it is also good source of probiotics
That's a great alternative as well!
Have you seen any improvements with it, and how do you make it
@@ZA-sy7dn I don't feel big changes, what put me into remission is dietary changes, I follow SCD diet. Coconut kefir is just my primary source for probiotics since I couldn't tolerate kefir milk.
