It would perhaps be more compelling if artists were composing original new scores for these films. Trent Reznor doing a score for Nosferatu could be interesting.
This is such a hideous idea. And not new. Moroder's score for METROPOLIS was not successful. Why? Why? Why? 30 cars in a drive-in is not a mainstream cinema experience. A travesty.
Pathetic. Never works, always mutilates the movie. People have been doing silents "with a twist" for decades and it always sucks. it never serves the movie, always distracts, always gets in front of it. Just as bad as what they used to do in the 60s and 70s and just put any old tinkling piano over it, no matter what's going on, and run the film at the wrong speed. The best way to watch a silent film is either with no sound at all, with a real silent-film accompanist, or with a score that matches the film. It's also hilarious that they choose "rock". If you want to be current, you should put it to hip hop or electronic dance music! Pathetic.

There are a few bands that have done that. One is a band called "The Invincible Czars" that have done a tour and performed live to the movie.
That's been done before. Look up Carl Davis.

Nosferatu was already given the Rock treatment! There's a DVD where it's been dubbed with early Type O Negative...
The 1927 film "Metropolis:" and Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of The Moon".
You'll thank me later.
Can I call you pretentious right now?
Do copies of the original sheet music exist?
Lame.
