    I was wondering how you were going to start this bed. Great video. Is this for a grow out bed? How deep may it get before you harvest the castings. Thanks, Mike.

      Yes ots a grow out bed. We have just started using these so I'm not sure when we will need to harvest the castings. Atleast 6 Mos for the first batch I'm sure.

      @@MemesWorms I just took Capt Matt's Learning to Worm course online. I feel very prepared to take the best care possible of my new worms . I always do a lot of research before I take on the care of any living creature. I'm making bedding now, cardboard, paper , both shredded, sifted , well aged horse manure, dry leaves, and coconut coir. Does that sound right?

    So how many worms would you start with in this bagster? And then do you continue to add bedding, food and worms til it’s mostly castings?

    • @MemesWorms
      @MemesWorms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would start with 50 lbs per bag. Continue to feed and add bedding. Divide in half in 2mos.

      Nancy you can start with less it will just take longer to foll. You asked me what I would start with. But any amount is doable.

    I recently saw a study about the effects of Glyphosate on worms, diluted 300 times than the minimum dilution it caused worms to have seizures.

    is it possible to have too many worms in a space? i have heard that they are self regulating. does this mean that if there are less worms they will produce more cocoons? thanks, nancy

    • @MemesWorms
      @MemesWorms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Worms do self regulate. It is best to take out once you have too many in your bin. Just start another bin or just leave alone and they will stop reproducing until they need to again. No not having enough you will have a problem with them being able to find a mate often enough.

    • @nancyfargo4209

      but what is too many and what is not enough? a couple months ago i had hundreds of cocoons and now i have thousands of babies but no cocoons! and my adults seem to have disappeared. thanks so much for being a great help!!

    • @MemesWorms

      When you stop seeing babies that's too many.

    I looked at several different packages hay & grasses at TSC the last time I was there, but none of them say that they are herbicide free. I worry about persistent herbicides being in the castings. Does the package you got say it's herbicide free? I didn't see that one at mine.

    • @MemesWorms
      @MemesWorms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll have to look. But I don't think you gonna find that on any packaging.
