- Diggle Diaries: An attempt to film all daylight running freight and interesting workings from Diggle Junction. Situated on the picturesque Trans-Pennine, Manchester to Huddersfield and Leeds route, Diggle Jn lies at the top of a steep incline leading into Standedge Tunnel. Providing beautiful scenery, varied freight and trains working hard up the hill, there aren’t many better places for a bit of trainspotting.

As someone with only a little knowledge of trains I really appreciate the little picture of the train to go with the description.
That’s great to hear mate, I hadn’t thought of them having that use. Hopefully it can help with identifying the differences between locos 👍🏻
Excellent Luke. There is no better sound than a 37 on full power
100% agree with you there mate, cheers!
Another smashing vid. Mike certainly knows how to put on a show!
Cheers pal, whenever I hear he’s up North it can’t be missed lol.
Terrific stuff again Luke - those 47's were great, really good to see them properly double headed too, rather than t&t! And 37's never disappoint - the HNR ones look good in that orange livery and it's good to see Colas keeping them a bit cleaner than their own locos...!! The 5 loco Freightliner looked like a small American freight train! Looking forward to the upcoming specials!
We can agree there mate, so much more impressive when they can run double. I know it’s usually due to pathing they have to T&T but always nice. The orange tractors are really warming on me, probably because they’re usually at full power with Mike when I see em haha.
Thank you Luke 🙂it's another belter. We're watching here in Stalybridge with a lovely glass of Merlot. Class 37s and multiple freight - what more can be said? You've never given a "crap" video yet. Keep up the good work 🍷
Thanks a lot Ruth, I’m not sure whether there is a better way to enjoy my vids than with a nice glass of red! 😊 appreciate the comment as always.
Superb video Luke. Unusual to see that 150 up here, looked good! Amazing shots and captures from you. Those 47s were clagging well! Good 37s as well. Very nice indeed! Really enjoyed, thanks for sharing!
Thanks very much mate, appreciate that. Loved that shot of the 47’s, was toying with having it as the thumbnail but landed on the tractor in the end lol.
First rate as always Luke, big thanks. I love me some 37 being given the beans action too!
You and me both pal. Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Content gets better and better.!!thx Luke keep up the high standards.!! Looking forward to the next one .!!👏👏👏🥃
Thanks a lot pal, glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully even better to come soon 👍🏻
Great video Luke!
Thanks a lot Fletch 👍🏻
Great 37 sounds, well done Luke!👍🏼😀
Cheers mate, can’t beat a 37 at full chat.
Brilliant luke first time l have seen gbrf class 57s love your videos can't wait for the next one brilliant mate...
Thanks a late mate, yeah I think those 57’s are pretty recent. GBRF picked em up from DRS in the spring.
a very rare sight now a tractor at guide bridge i used to always see them there in the 1980s when they was on the peak stone trains double headed! Nice video 👏👏👏
Except Mike bringing the occasional something for repair yeah hardly any sadly. Thanks as always Justin 👍🏻
I remember when guide Bridge depot was full of locos in the 1980s class 25s 40s class 76/77 I was only a nipper but now there ain't even a class 08 there sadly how our railways declined 😎
Thanks Luke, another great video.
Cheers Peter, much appreciated 👍🏻
Enjoyed July part two, certainly a mix of different motive power.Kind Regards 🚂🚂🚂
Thanks Ramon, glad you enjoyed it mate. Appreciate the support as always 👍🏻
loved the 66424 thrash & the 37s to!!!
Can’t beat a bit of thrash mate.
Aaah Luke...a brace of good looking GBRf 57's..fab!
They finally appeared after my waiting around in the bush from the last video intro haha.
Luke you seriously can't beat a 37 however old I get on full power they will always make me smile lol
Same here mate, absolute top drawer 👌🏻
Brilliant episode Luke, nice to see the 150 and the back to back HST power cars, yep, they do look weird. Looking forward to the next vlog
Thanks very much mate, definitely some unusual moves in this one 👍🏻
Cracking video as always! Can't wait for the LSL tour generally, and the video for it sounds really interesting!
Thanks a lot mate, was out on the tour yesterday was one hell of a day. Can’t wait to get the video put together.
Brilliant video Luke. Had to watch it twice. Love the 37’s. I didn’t even know London North Western had class 150’s. Really looking forward to 24 hours at Tamworth.
Cheers Geoff, appreciate that mate. Yeah I think their 150’s are only used on the Marston Vale which makes it an even rarer sight to see one up here!
All good young Luke.👍👍
Thank you mate 👍🏻👍🏻
Another great video. Many thanks and I can't wait for the next one!
Cheers Gary, can’t wait to get those next ones filmed and out to you guys.
Hi Luke - thanks as always for a very interesting vid. You get so many LE workings thru Diggle. Looking forward to Tamworth with the 2 levels and of course LSL. Cheers from a frosty NZ, Marty
Cheers Marty, can’t wait to get those videos done and out to you guys, should be next level.
Great stuff, thanks very much indeed Luke.
Cheers John, as always, my pleasure. Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Excellent, nice to see Levenshulme, my local, making it onto Diggle Diaries
Cheers Paul, I’ll definitely use Leve again at some point it was great. Hopefully for something passing at speed.
Thanks Luke, another good one.
Cheers Bill, glad you enjoyed it pal 👍🏻
just gets better every episode Luke
Thanks mate, really enjoyed putting this one together. Hopefully our luck continues.
Great to see my local station Hebden Bridge putting in an appearance Luke, it’s such a pretty space to spend a little quality spotting time
I had to for that one mate, one of the most gorgeous stations on the network. I should use it more in all honesty, it’s just that little bit more awkward for me to get to than Sowerby from Diggle.
@@DiggleJunction Always happy to catch stuff if I’m around 👍🏻
I was very lucky to catch 37405 twice last week at Stockport although I was at the wrong end of the platform when it decided to give it some! Miss those Ex Cross Country HSTs. Great Video buddy 😊
A few of my pals said the same thing from
Stockport haha. Glad you caught those whilst up here though! Cheers pal.
@@DiggleJunction yeh I certainly enjoyed it at Stockport. Unfortunately being tucked away in the corner of the country we don’t get a great variety 😂
Thanks,great content,😂
Cheers Ste 👍🏻
Hoofin video Luke 👍
Cheers pal, glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Thanks for the great mix Luke, the Diggle loop is looking super rusty at the mo!
Cheers John, very rusty yeah. There must be something up with the points as it’s not been used in months and there’s been a TSR over the points variously.
@@DiggleJunction, excuse my ignorance, but I'm guessing TSR is temporary speed restriction?
@@johnmay2786 Sorry John, didn't get the notification you'd replied. Yeah you're bang on.
I suppose with them doing weekend work at Huddersfield it's been a bit quieter up at Diggle.
Sadly mate yes, might end up with just the one Diary for August. Will just have to fill the gap with something good 👍🏻
Is there any plans to reopen Oldham Ashton guide bridge railway that would be really good , so that passengers can go to Ashton via Oldham again, I really miss the 2970s we’re all the lines we’re open , especially the Oldham Clegg street railway shed , I remember the class 35s class 47s and the class 40s in the summer of 1980 . They were carrying parcel vans at that time , I wished I had a video camera at that time i would have recorded it all .
I don’t believe so mate sadly. I only ever got to see the Oldham loop through Mumps, all the original lines must have been something else!
Another cracking video ...any news on when the next 24hour video will be released?😎
Thanks Anna, hopefully I’ll get down there in the next few weeks. There have been closures on the high level where all the really good stuff goes so waiting for that to be over and done with.
