Yes, Blackwing Normal is an insanely difficult raiding experience. The difficulty: Oh uh, ... do mechanics? "What, what's that, that doesn't show up on my irrelevant ass parses".
Dude grouped with a bunch of randos. Wipes to completely avoidable mechanics. Blames Cata for being "overtuned". His goons are mad fights aren't "stand-in-one-spot-spam-2-buttons" anymore.
You know what ? The worst part is that the fights rven in heroic are so much easier than private servers is a joke comoared to thos private servers and people csnt even do this shit on normal

I'm not that hype about Cata, but I don't really see the point this video is trying to make. You have a completely uncoordinated raid, led by a guy who remembers half of the mechanics and who does comms on stream delay. That they even killed the first boss under those conditions is testament to this stuff, at least on normal, really not being hard.
It’s just rage bait for all the 35yr old classic doomers that watch his react content and haven’t played wow in 15 years. Normal is a joke even with pugs, his stream just attracts some of the worst most casual players and this video is only proof of that
@@vaxxeenmtg9733I think that’s the point he’s trying to make. The casuals of WoW can’t even do a raid on normal difficulty. That’s a huge problem for the game in the long run considering casuals make up the majority of the player base.
"Casual" for teens and college kids is hardmode for gamer dads who also have to pass the IRL raid of trying to hide from their wife and kids long enough to play.
@@KimiRai208 this is the nerfed version of the raid. We did these raids unnerfed on way shittier PCs, way shittier internet 15 years ago. I cleared the tiers on heroic on a laptop with 5mpbs down. No wowhead guides for optimization. It took wiping and progression and it was fun. The thing is we have all those tools now, so now there’s no excuse for people to suck. If every game has to be dumbed down to LFR level then what’s the point. People hated and still hate LFR yet asmon sits here spawning more people who just want LFR but don’t want to admit it.
looks good after magmaw, when i was playing there was always problem with not enough mana from healers and not enough dps, funny thing is that i got replaced (druid tank) for a blood DK, who was top of healing done on top of what i was doing, trully balanced class, but that guild only was capable of killing magmaw, omnotron wasn't possible
No caps, no good reforges, no prebis gear, not even play his rotation properly, do less damage than tanks, doesn't explain boss mechanics, doesn't even use a BWD weakaura or DBM, doesn't even read the dungeon journal to understand what he has to do, but he belives he can lead a pug group on week 1 on a pretty hard raid and oneshot everything. Classic streamer expected proficiency.
At the end of the video, you explained the shadowflame / rooting mechanics well, and it took about 3 minutes ... and when asked why you did not explain it previously, to the raiders, you said that you did not want to waste time explaining to people who did not already know. However, if you are going to put together a raid of pretty much random players, you have to assume that they do not know. So by not "wasting time" for 3 minutes to explain the mechanics to them, you in fact ironically wasted about an hour wiping. I understand that patience is thin after doing this content a million times previously, but if you recruit random players, and then do not explain mechanics, you are setting yourself up for a lot of wasted time wiping :-( Love your videos
I full cleared it as the only pug in a raid group guild group that had been raiding in wrath but never actually played cata, RL went down the list of every single thing everyone was doing and each fight we killed with no real wipe prog besides nefarian who is actually hard
The problem is the content is 12 year old, tons of videos of povs and guides the information is there. The people could just see a video and try to undertans the fight or not even thst, just read the book of the mechsnics in game but I think is too much to así before joning a raid cuz people dont play to be better or the best they just wanna "chill " and whatever happens or a carry mind set
Remember he is a content creator first and foremost. He NEEDS to pug this and NEEDS to be seen suffering by his viewers. This isn’t a tutorial, nobody want to watch a super successful raid
Ayep. Sad thing is, there are decent PUG raiders that actually know how to play, only to get kicked because you're a PUG player. Then folks bitch about not being able to find anyone... /shrug
I love asmon as a streamer and a content creator, but he has really let himself go in terms of WoW. He needs to realise this, not only is he bitching and moaning about a raid thats actually really easy, but he just cant accept the fact that pugging a uncoordinated raid is just not gonna steamroll normal. Give it a couple weeks and people usually knows what to do, hell he doesnt even know what to do, he needs to stop shifting blame and accept that he is just making himself miserable doing shit, while also looking like a fool complaining about stuff that could be easily avoided with a little bit of effort.

What about people who can't take 5 min to watch a vid on all the raid bosses from a 14 year old raid to get an idea of what to do instead of just expecting someone else to explain it to them so that they don't wipe the group? You ever have someone hire at your job and they don't bother AT ALL to try and learn anything? Show up late, still takes a minute to finish their/food drink before they clock in, goes to their position and just does the most half assed lazy job with no care or pride. Feels like you end up reteaching them the same shit you teach them every shift you work with them? They never ask questions about how to do things better / right? There were a lot of those people in this raid.

Cata classic looks fun, leveling is a lot more smoother and not frustatling slow with community that likes to gatekeep leveling and dungeon farming from looks of it.
I started playing wow in march and always heard the veteran youtubers and streamers talk about how raiding and dungeons were so difficult and how it was very unapproachable by new players, and it made me very scared of trying to do raids and I tried to avoid them as much as I could. BUT Literally 4 hours into cataclysm and every single boss was already killed in my server, and after only 1 week people were already looking for groups to farm spam the raids and dungeons, including myself. I think the fact these people got last expansion lvl gear, no consumables and only play once per month has probably more impact on them turbo wiping nonstop rather than the raid being actually hard.

@@RavenIV idk what you mean by them having the means to stop botting. As far as I know every major MMO has bots no matter what. I do agree with you that they should make it f2p. It would require massive rules tho if they want to reduce botting. I got some ideas. I am not sure it would be fun tho, and those private server and offline players might not enjoy these implemented rules and ideas. 1. Gold lock and limit. You can not use gold for player trades, mail, and there is a strict limit based per expac. 2. No AH. You can not use the AH to buy or post items. You can still directly trade items, but you will not be allowed to trade items for gold as gold trading is disabled. 3. No wow tokens, you can't buy or sell wow tokens with real money or in game gold. This is a big one, and it will automatically encourage botting if available. 4. Expac lock. You only play upto to a expac, and you may choose to raise that character up or not, but it isn't reversible. You may not acquire any item from the next expac from any source, trade, farming, drops, etc etc. You may not enter zones of those expac or do any quests related to the next expacs. These are some VERY heavy rules, but I believe they are required if you want a f2p that won't break the game. You have to understand, if f2p was just let loose up to what ever expac, there are countless ways to exploit it. The game was never designed for it, and people will abuse the system. People would make thousands of bots to farm lower level content 24/7 and flood the market with infinite gold, materials, and services. There is no easy solution, as if you allow any of the mentioned features still active, people will find a way to abuse.

This. I played since late BC and I also think Cataclysm was when WoW quality first took a SERIOUS dip down. I personally think Pandaria wasn't as bad as many people see it, though it was still a far cry from how it was before. And ever since then... Yeah.
Cataclysm was fine. We were able to return to Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms from that distant high level only sandboxes of Outland and Northrend. Pandaria and Dreanor was trash though.

The PvP felt great due to the "ability bloat" and Throne of Thunder is probably the best raid Blizzard ever has done. Asmon failed as RL in several aspects : healer assignment, raid cooldown rotation, clear task assignment. you can just assume people will do exactly what needs to be done in PUG raid , when they never killed (or maybe they did 10 years ago) Raids on normal are not that hard , but with randoms puting together (checking only ilvl) and not really leading them you simply can fail. And that is ok. Nefarian should not just fall over , because random unprepared group shows up.
I'm om you side to an extend he def should have done more especially with how bad the group was doing but as someone who has already cleared the content and raid lead everything from pugs to gdkps to guild runs it easily adds an hour to a run just explaining fights and it's really not that hard to spend a few mins watching a tldr guide on the fights. There are obviously some things that need to be pre decided in every raid but it's just better to get the important things out pull it and see what needs to be done to make it a better pull. Some level of minium effort has to be there though you don't deserve to clear the content if you just expect to show up know nothing and get carried or be the cause of the failure of the group imo.

Finally the truth.....yes thats when my guildies started going awol. LFG was one of the big killers as it killed social. Also they started to insert level boosting and started tinkering with the 1 to 70 level experience to make it easier. Doing all of those leveling short cuts killed off the importance of each class because it was a lot easier to level an alt. The later Zones in WOTLK were rubbish.

I get some people loved Cata, and are really happy with this. Glad Blizzard did this.... BUT They should have Classic through TBC and WotLK on a rolling server rest loop sort of thing. 15 months per expansion perhaps. 4 year cycles ( a few months at the end for catch up) Because for me the game ended with Cata. I know others disagree and prefer Cata. More power to you. But many people Cata was the end. As someone who's led raids for YEARS I can honestly say. Even when you explain things. A huge chunk of players will refuse to listen and it really does end up being a situation where you just beat on a dead horse. So Asmon isn't completely wrong, the game shouldn't need to get that much easier though. If it does need to get that much easier, the game should just die, because the fact is. It would mean the people who are playing it, and want to continue to dumb it down, aren't looking to actually play the game or a video game at all. When raids became too hard to pug, the game died. I kinda agree with Asmon. If you need an organised group to do the easiest entry level content, the game is too hard. At the same time, LFR making it so you could just queue to raid took any interactions out of the game.
Lol "interaction", someone spamming lf for ppl for Ulduar and you whispering to him to invite isnt any different than oressing a button. LFR is perfect for people like you

For Magmaw there is a trick we used to do. Parasites always spawn on the isolated target if there is one. We used to have ranged DPS stack in one part of the room and one hunter or mage stand alone on a broken patch of ground. Melee dps would stack on the boss with tanks. Parasites would then errupt on the isolated hunter/mage and you can see the fire circle where they would spawn. When they errupt isolated hunter/mage has one job, to slow them and kite them not getting hit! You get infested if they hit you. They dont change agro so RDPS can change to them and AOE them down while the kiter kites them. You make the fight very easy by doing it that way. When they are dead kiter returns to the spot and repeats the process.

The problem with Cata isnt that its "harder", it was the start when you needed addons to be able to clear the content... its the perfect example of the weapons race between blizz trying to create "hard" vs addons telling players what to do...

I’m loving cata classic. I like it a lot more than the previous classic xpacs. I’m mainly a pvper and the PvP is so much more fun, better pacing and better abilities and class design.
I remember puging Icecrown. Doing hc with half randkm half guild. Then cata came and my guild that did classic, BC, wrath was stuck on 3/4 bosses in lair and on Chogal in bastion. And mind you l am talking normal and best situations. There were resets (by cata everyone was working and/or fresh hitched) where we couldn't do the sound dragon. Heck for the first 3 weeks we couldn't kill the mechanotron or the lava wurm. And we weren't the only guilds having the problems. The "young" dad guilds got gutted by cataclysm. Heck fuck raids , people would fail doing Grim Batol as if it Pinacle. How it ended was that after a 6-7 months of pain our server was desolate and the still playing "good" players started clearing stuff. By the time of fire lands everything was being cleared on weekly basis, it is just that the number of guilds dropped dramaticly and you couldn't just join after a 3-4 months break.
Idk if anyone feels this way, but the memories made & experience I had in Vanilla, TBC, WoTLK, and Cata are something I relish and still reminiscence on. I like the idea of playing WoW, but I quit after my life kind of fell to shambles mid Legion and just don't find it fun any longer. Peaked decently high on the ladder w/ 3v3 arena in WoD and called it on that. I still log in every once in a while to look at stuff I have in my bank, like letters sent in the mail between me and my brother and rediscover other sentimental things.
I actually agree with you. The only expansion out side of tbc that I like is cataclysm. I never mention that, because as you say its so far removed from vanilla that I have a hard time accepting it as the same game. It feels more like wow 2.0 to me than an expansion--and I get that they didn't label it wow 2.0, but look at what they did to the map, talent system, and stat attribution system. Its much faster pace, and fun to play--but it isn't really an mmo--more of a multi-player version of a real time chrono trigger. As a result, I have a hard time even considering anything cata and beyond as a legitimate wow expansion.
Yeah I'm a bit dissapointed as well. Not only is it full of bugs still, but it's optimised like absolute dogshit. People are saying they removed AI upscaled textures. They didn't. They removed the option..the update is mandatory. One of the biggest selling points of classic for me was the ability to re-experience an old game on newer hardware with minimal performance impacts. Now sitting in orgrimmar (a densely populated orgrimmar) my fps tanks from 150+ in Wrath, now it's under 50fps standing near the AH/Bank. After some trial & error trying to fix the issue, disabling add-ons, emptying cache and deleting wtf folder/GPU software update. Nothing fixes it. I was able to contact a GM & they explained the pre-patch upscaled the textures by somewhat 16x more and that's the culprit. Otherwise my fps remains similar to Wrath, until the area is populated again. I never thought a 15+ year old game being re-released would prompt me to want to upgrade my PC again. What the fuck blizzard. Retail is running more smoothly than this shit now.
Why would Ion do that? Cata is when he took over as the raid lead. He is actually delusional enough to think it's going to be a success this time around and he has patterned all his versions of WoW post Legion (when Tom Chilton left and Ion was the lead on the entire game) after his esport raid or die mentality.
I think the moment dungeon and raid finder was added then everything started going decline. Following to that everything started to be too simple and flat.
Yeah raids kinda hard instantly, specially heroics. Some people seems to not understand how this works, it’s like you actually need decent reaction now. Need to lock in.
I was thinking part of it was because Cata doesnt feel like CLassic. We have the same dungeons, same questing areas. Not previous dungeons and areas like pre cata

It’s just rage bait for all the 35yr old classic doomers that watch his react content and haven’t played wow in 15 years. Normal is a joke even with pugs, his stream just attracts some of the worst most casual players and this video is only proof of that

@@NoNo-ll8og thats entirely on blizzard, they should have the means to deal with it permanently, long ago
@@yummychips_ regarding wow token, if it would be f2p, token loses meaning, so no token required.
By the rules you just stated you would just created a bit more prolonged free trial retail has now, which is the worst free trial of all MMOs, so no, there is no point to even go f2p.
As of expansion locks, we are talking base game and first 3 expansions which are decades old, fucking why would you restrict them....
Regarding bots, yea, they would be a plague, perma bans to all of them and All the available means to get them out so for those brainrot people that create them even that idea to create a bit would be missery
But blizzard thinks private server players might wanna pay them 15$ a month to play offices classic lol

I still don’t understand why they put cata in classic. Wasn’t the whole point of classic was to go back to how things were?
Why Cata isn't considered classic? Same talent system but the classes feel actually complete this time..what was wrong with it?
@@inferno8008 It literally changed the entire landscape of the original game.
@@inferno8008 Classic is the period of original Azeroth
I think the true point was to re-addict players with the original classic content only to then hopefully parlay that restored addiction into playing retail wow
Nope. The point of classic was for us to be able to play the old expansions that we loved that we can't play anymore.
as a vanila player i am glad to still have those good old memories from not playing rereleased classic good old times
If it was a Horde pug good chance would have done it. Though still surprised that Classic has not added cross faction raiding yet like Retail.
Get filtered brother! Did a half guild/half pug clear on Mankrik with just dbm/details in about 5 hour for BoT/TotFW/BWD and that was probably the most fun we've had as a guild since tier 6.
Dude cata so far has been a blast, and I literally formed a guild with 3 ten man teams in the last 10 days only, and all 3 teams cleared BWD last night, none of us are hardcore players.
this video is a clear bait
This is the same thing that happened to me, and I have been playing solo since Cata. I love the game and I don't want to quit, but the endgame isn't fun for me.
How does cata end game differ from wotlk? You do dungeons, raid, pvp and farm gold. Thats it. The only real difference is that Cata is a bit harder.
@@mr.meatsoup5639 I always get confused by that. People wanted the classic experience. Like in tbc or classic classic, where roles mattered and it was challenging and strategy. But we have that in cata but a maybe a little harder and then it killed wow? It’s the same shit brah
@@rianeagan2693 nothing in classic was challenging
@@Oakwin_mb so I guess that’s why people liked it?

Q1: What is a BiScuit?
A1: A kit of all your BiS items or full BiS.
Q2: What is a BiSquick BiScuit?
A2: Where you pay WoW $10 for a one-time 45 second buff that gives you full BiS for the duration.
Has a 72-hour internal cooldown per use.
When raids became too hard to pug, the game died. I kinda agree with Asmon. If you need an organised group to do the easiest entry level content, the game is too hard.
At the same time, LFR making it so you could just queue to raid took any interactions out of the game.
or that group just need to get better lmao youre part of the group thats bad at the game go back to ff
Lol "interaction", someone spamming lf for ppl for Ulduar and you whispering to him to invite isnt any different than oressing a button. LFR is perfect for people like you
completely disagree, RAIDs are about getting together with other peple , learn tactic and then progress through the raid.
If total randoms can clear whole raid with pre-raid gear and without knowing the tactics THEN its wrong.
@@daqimber It's crazy that ff14 literally did all the things you called "wrong" and still has a great raiding scene, like how is it even possible
Bro literally right now on retail you need to interact with others to get into a raid and normal raid is a complete faceroll to pug under any circumstances and even heroic is puggable in under an hour by people who know what’s going on. I think what you really mean is WoW died for you when you had to press more than 2 buttons and do more than 1 mechanic lol but millions of people disagree and actually enjoy a challenge and progressing.
Time to go back to private servers!
Watching asmon play wow makes me nostalgic and sad
I was on last night there were like 500 people standing around org... so...
"couldn't be me ... mine's on CD"
Thanks for reminding me why I quit playing WoW.
You didn’t quit
too hard for you as well? lmao
@@LeesArts More like massive waste of time and energy. The content itself is not difficult at all, especially with the addons available. Being forced to rely on stupid people to raid is what drove me away.
@@BlueEternities sure it is xD
I’ve never even played WoW but every time I hear about the way its raids work I think “who would waste their time doing this”. Everything just seems so tedious and unnecessarily long. @@ambassadoroftheandromedagalaxy
Anyone thinking they'll get the original experience from these re-runs is wrong, the magic wasnt just the expansions it was the old style community, before sharding and layering when servers felt alive.
The fact people are still touching anything Activision related today is a bigger shock.
Naw. The fact is people are dumb, impervious to learning how to do mechanics or learning how to improve and always expecting someone else to do anything to do about it instead of themselves.
That and you're asking barely enough people to group up for a raid.
NOTE: I haven’t watched this video yet.. but with the title I will say this.
Cata prob has the most active player base cause we were all 16-24 during this time and the content wasn’t “here’s free gear”
CATA HYPE ☝️
The problem with Cata isnt that its "harder", it was the start when you needed addons to be able to clear the content... its the perfect example of the weapons race between blizz trying to create "hard" vs addons telling players what to do...
It's been so long could you refresh my memory on what you needed addons for?
Literally the dumbest take ever.
@@iyaramonk Simplest example is DBM, deadly boss mods... its a addon that tell players of incoming dangers... and while its the most common handicap for raiders, there is many more, id even go so far to say, unless you run addons, you cant compeat in the top tiers of PvP, and world first is bascially won by the team that can first tune their addons... IF it were up to me, then blizz should remove all acess and addons, and IF they allowed it, all addons should be only gained through blizzard, then everyone would play with the same set of software...
It died because it had nothing to do with original warcraft - boring lore, boring music, boring design boring everything.
@@Blackstar-ti4py Real I didn't play it and I'm a noob comment there.
I almost joined this group when they raided yesterday. I inspected like 4--5 people and knew it was going to be a shit show.
What happened to the outro music?? :(
His videos doesn't have outro music for years.
WOW was never hard even on heroic. The only thing that made it hard was relying on other people not to F* up.
Warlock will continue to be the least played class until MoP pre-patch. They are simply unintuitive and clunky to play, they don’t get fixed until MoP. And they’re not top DPS anymore.
Demonology has S Tier DPS potential, but it kinda falls flat on it's face if you have to move. And there's a lot of moving in Cata.
Agreed. I should have specified I’m mostly talking about Demo. Affliction is great imo and Destruction is just undertuned.
@@erike9074 Yeah Affliction feels smooth as butter, just wish it scaled better with Mastery and didn't completely lack any burst.
I quit SoD because of incursions and switched to classic era firemaw again , just love it and the ppl here ❤ ✌🏻😅
i mean i remember when his raids couldnt clear gruul lair.
LOL
How tf? My guild (formed on launch week) cleared every raid in one sitting reading the mechanics out of the journal 30 seconds before pull.
I hated all the changes to talents and world from Cata. But it was the first time I really enjoyed running heroics (pre nerf). Was so much fun not being tank and spank and actually having to use coordinated cc.
Yesterday my group did a test run (officialy we are starting to raid next reset so this was just to get item or two) with 2-3 ppl well below 346. Its an understatement to say we demolished the whole raid. It was so easy i got surprised and somewhat dissapointed since im a private server player on cata till classic came out.
It's nerfed to the ground, otherwise retailers and classic andies would wipe on the adds and cry to blizzard. we can't have that.
1:57:30 in with the crash, That one specifically drove me nuts with my new PC and I finally found the solution. Please Please Please read this.
The solution to the crash is because having a 13900K CPU, I had the exact thing happen and took a while to figure out it was that specific.
Using Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and just change the Performance Core and Efficient Core Ratios down just by 1 each. Its a WoW issue with 13900K specifically.
I never had a single crash after that with WoW again.
I play with casual players that wipe on content for 3+ hours and still have fun and that's my choice. He straight up got HUMBLED! Honestly, if you don't want to spend hours wiping, you need to formulate a 10-25m guild. carry them through god everything, give them the best gear, make them literal gods so everyone is god level players to do the content you want to accomplish all over again...
Wow Classic starts at 60. Next phase will bring back some players, I hope...
I’m loving cata classic. I like it a lot more than the previous classic xpacs. I’m mainly a pvper and the PvP is so much more fun, better pacing and better abilities and class design.
Yeah cata is great.
Cata is my favorite expansion and I've been playing since 2006 so I've seen it all.
@@tedk.6420 Same. I've been playing since 05 and cata is my favorite also.
I loved ICC during LK and I found it challenging at times, thanks for calling me stoopid ya big dummy
By the time of fire lands everything was being cleared on weekly basis, it is just that the number of guilds dropped dramaticly and you couldn't just join after a 3-4 months break.
idk about wow, but I am interested wizard man
The shoulder and pants don't stack from my observation. I usually keep the shoulders a stun and the pants as a shield or damage increases.
"2 tanks just left the raid" .. now this is peak entertainment
It was kinda hard, it wasn't for the average wow pleb that wants the loots in his mailbox.
Never ceases to amaze me how bad classic wow players are, more than one mechanic and they cant grasp it, truly impressive.
Exactly this. Classic players are absolute dullards who don't know what they truly want.
Spoken like a true retail Andy
Id still kill to see retail players try to figure out sunwell
Also, lets not get ahead of yourself here, you couldn't do a single mechanic without an addon or a guide
Not all of us. I completed 7 hc bosses already. Its not that hard at all. Super fun tbh!
What realm is this?
Lol asmons fantasy realm
I personally think they should have stopped after Wotlk.
Why would Ion do that? Cata is when he took over as the raid lead. He is actually delusional enough to think it's going to be a success this time around and he has patterned all his versions of WoW post Legion (when Tom Chilton left and Ion was the lead on the entire game) after his esport raid or die mentality.
why isnt reck on his bar and why doesnt he use it? u can use it as arms lol
I think the moment dungeon and raid finder was added then everything started going decline. Following to that everything started to be too simple and flat.
😂😂😂😂. "throw down a summon stone..."
"What's that?"
Yeah raids kinda hard instantly, specially heroics. Some people seems to not understand how this works, it’s like you actually need decent reaction now. Need to lock in.
Well... yes, I mean, everyone knows this right? This shouldn't come as a surprise.
I was thinking part of it was because Cata doesnt feel like CLassic. We have the same dungeons, same questing areas. Not previous dungeons and areas like pre cata
