How cool is that!! Wow, I had hoped that The Prayer would be nominated. Thank you for sharing that info!! This group has helped me with my chronic pain since the beginning. Their musical talent, the various tones they use help my physical pain to lessen.
I agree. Same concept different ailment. They're helping me also after a diagnosis that has had me on the brink of depression. So mad props to them . I'm certain we aren't the only ones

Those weren't dancers, that was the choir. Scott introduced them after the performance.

From the first time I heard Bohemian Rhapsody, I felt Mitch is the recreation of Freddie Mercury.

Great reaction/analysis. For this specific performance, the fullness in vocals that you hear at one point is with the help of a choir spread out in the aisles. Scott actually says "welcome the singers in the aisles" right before they come in.
And right at the end you can hear him say "give it up for the amazing choir."
Yup...that's what i was coming here to say as well. If he does a playback, he'll hear Scott say that and (I think) twice the video shows a couple of people in the aisles with hand lights singing. Those people would be the choir members.
Let's just be honest, Jarvis, you are my favorite reactionary. No fluff or off-the-wall behavior, just informative information. It's refreshing to see you enjoy the piece and simultaneously explaining why. When you talk over the performance, you have great timing not to talk over major pieces. You have really helped me understand why I enjoy listening/watching Pentatonix, because I'm so unlearned about the intricate details of music. Thank you, great reaction.
The choir was actually in the aisles - Scott drew attention to them, if you listen carefully. Not a backing track in this case, but that doesn't mean they don't use them.
He said welcome the singers in the aisles. You can see them when Scott is doing his solo.
Scott is notorious for forgetting lyrics (even of songs he’s written) so the monitors have helped. Lol I get to see them live tomorrow it’ll be so fun to take it all in live.
I hope you react to “Making Evergreen” which is their album that was just nominated for a Grammy yesterday. As someone who clearly understands their skill it’ll give you even more insight into their process.

Fantastic break-down! Scott is notorious for forgetting lyrics so I’m not surprised they have lyric prompters! As they enter this second decade they are experimenting with more layers & instruments & features so they now often sing with backing tracks. I’ve got tickets for their Holidays Around the World Concert next week!!! SO excited!
I saw them do this at a small private concert. They said it was the first time they were performing it. No dancers, no fancy lights, no playback. It wasn't perfect but it was still amazing. Scott said "we had to choose which sounds and notes to include to make it sound right because we obviously can't do everything!" Yet they always seem to! ☺

YESSS THISSSS THIS is why they are 3 time Grammy winners and now as of a few days ago nominated for their 4th for their whole album of "Evergreen" from last year
From info from an interview I think they have a click track which starts with the right key. I'm not sure if the click continues for the whole song.
They also have on stage screen prompts for the lyrics, because they have to all get it right or it falls apart!
The choir was live in the aisles. You can see them all there singing. Scott introduced them after.

Thanks Jarvis, glad to see you back with PTX. Appreciate your technical expertise, thanks for sharing. Super interesting about the "man behind the curtain". Background/chorus voices are actually coming from the folks in white in the audience I believe. PTX will never tour close enough to my location, so I was really grateful that they offered a live stream of this concert from the Hollywood Bowl.
You're not alone. I have had many PTX videos I reacted to that got world wide blocks on them. This was one of them. Imagine, etc. I wish there was a way to just let the copyright owner to monetize the video so we can at least put it up and bring more eyes, or views to the artists. Thanks for the reaction bro!
I am so glad you're back with PTX. The additional singers were in the audience and added to the vocals. The prompter was for them to remember the lyrics just as you said!! I can't wait to see you react to their new single Prayers for this world!!!
Way to do JB-boss, always enjoy your reactions and the way you teach me a little sumn. They put on the best show I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen Led Zeppelin. They said that there’s no market for a cappella when the first label dropped them. PTX proved those people wrong in a big way
I do so love your PTX reactions, you always offer particular insights that help me understand what they are doing. And I love your enthusiasm! From what I have observed, I think the label blocks are triggered by the visuals. Other reactors have gotten around this by blurring the video, adding a layer of text or logos over the video, or playing with the opacity to make them more transparent. (If you tried these, sorry, I was hoping to be helpful.) Honestly, it doesn’t matter what is seen on our end, we all know these videos from multiple viewings. As long as you can see them clearly, we’ll be happy. Oh yeah, and Scott is notorious for forgetting lyrics, so monitors are definitely needed. Well done, as always! Peace from Ohio …

I always appreciate your reactions and the musical performance-related knowledge that you share. Sorry to hear that you're having problems with keeping your videos posted. I know that's a common problem. Perhaps react to Superfruit (Mitch and Scott), as I think there are less copyright issues. They've got some great medleys, as well as eccentric (but amazing) videos, e.g., Hip Hop Goes Broadway (Parts 1 & 2), Feeling Myself, Defying Gravity, and some collabs (Rise, Frozen). They also have some great original songs.

You were talking when Scott introduced the choir in the aisles. You thought that they were dancers; they were the choir. No tracks/No auto tune. It was a choir from USC singing with them while standing in the aisles. Other than that incorrect info that you gave, I enjoyed your reaction. They do use monitors for lyrics because Scott is notorious for forgetting lyrics.
Top-Drawer performance by Pentatonix, and great reaction by Jarvis! Don't believe "iron Sky" by Paolo Nutini has not been reviewed by Drumming with Jarvis, but I highly recommend it -- especially the Paolo Nutini - Iron Sky [Abbey Road Live Session] live recording video. Based on the analysis given in Jarvis' reaction to "Bohemian Rhapsody," by the Pentatonix, I would also highly recommend a review of the music video "I Speak Astronomy," by Jinjer ... an absolutely stellar performance with high energy drumming, a riveting bass line groove, fabulous lightning fast guitar riffs, and the incomparable vocals of Tatiana Shmayluk. This is not hyperbole, Jinjer really is excellent! Please review ... I so look forward to your reactions.

Also, a lot of reactors are having the same issues-the best way around it is to make the video almost transparent & maybe put your logo or text over it & you should be fine. It's the video that the issue not the audio & we're here for your reaction!

I think the extra track you’re hearing is the people on white robes around the venue. They are singing along with PTX. I’m sure they do use a click and talk back though.

I only half understand what you be talking about but I’m sure it’s the same when I start talking about Color Theory 😂. Have you tried blurring the screen to get them to stop flagging your videos? There are lots of issues with SME (the parent company to PTX's label) copyright hitting reaction channels. There are tricks to navigate it, as it seems to be the video rather than the song itself that gets hit (in most cases anyway) some reactors use filters over the video that either blur or distort the video in some way, the might lower the opacity so itxs not as visible or I've seen a few that put large block letters over the image with thingsliek "blocked due to copyright" or similar, or just the "pentatonix [insert song name]". I know it's a lot of hassle, but we pentatonic are used to it now. Most of us are watching for your reaction & input, if we want to to see the video we can go to their channel. So hope you'll consider trying something like that to see if it helps.
Now for this performance. It was really interesting to hear it live with Matt as the original was with Avi, and I could hear the little adjustments and differences. The choir was an interesting touch on the bridge, they didn'thave at in the studio version, 'd be interested to look for a
I've version when Avi was still with them to see if they used similar then. I think the difference is that while Matt does have a great voice, the bass isn't quite as... filling? expansive? (I'm not sure I can even put it into words)... as Avi's, so the choir really boosted that.

Their label seems to be getting more difficult about blocking. Are you blurring the video? Putting a logo over the top of it? Believe, the fans don't care about the videos as much as seeing your reaction tho the group we love so much, so even if we can't see it well, we won't mind.

I appreciate them trying to mimic guitar sounds as you said, but I did not care for it. The beatboxer could have repeated and lopped his sounds or they could have used another sound as a replacement for the guitars.
