Man, you're absolutely correct. Shooting three-point shots all day is boring. What else can a player do if the opposite team shuts that lane off? If you don't have other ways of scoring or help your team defensively, what good are you? It's like a player that only scores on a slam dunk most of the time. What if the knees give out or the lane is shut off? Maybe that's why a lot of recent slam dunk champs, except a few, don't have great NBA careers.
If it hadn’t been for injuries, Monster Mash would have been a similar player to Carmelo Anthony. Off the court though dude has become an awesome businessman.
Those teams coached by Dick Motta were really fun! They didn't have a lot of talent, but it was fun to watch them jack up what seemed like a ton of threes! Except now several teams average more threes than what used to be the record.
Idk about easily. It’s tougher to play post in todays game due to the help and zone defense. He was a slow pace player. But damn he is the most underrated players in the 90s.
Mashburn's first year was rough. That was the year Quinn Buckner was the Mavs coach. Quinn Buckner was the leader of the undefeated Indiana team and got along with Bobby Knight better than any other player he coached, and he tried to coach the Mavs like Bobby Knight would. Mashburn even publicly complained about him.
Hector, I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American. My friends and I went crazy buying basketball cards in 1993! I remember, Magic Johnson's All-Rookie Alphonso Ellis was valued in Beckett as $14-25, and my friend BJ offered it to me for $12 cash. BJ is now 5'6", 375 pounds. My friend Greg, offered me a Jamal Mashburn Magic's All-Rookies card for $12, valued at $14-25 in Beckett.
@@unappealingundesirable2826 🤣🤣 the glorious days of the trading cards i remember one exchange i make that i regret all my life and is a Shaq Rookie Fleer card for a Damon Stoudomire Fleer Metal Rookie card i think, the value of the Stoudomire one was higher in that time 🤣🤣🤣 im just cant believe it i did that but i was 13
In this era, guys like J Mash would eat. In his prime he’s was 20+ 5 & 5. Imagine today what he could do. The wing depth in the late 90’s to early 00’s was unprecedented thats why these videos are so damn important. For ex., Cuttino Mobley, Brandon Roy, Jason Richardson, Rudy Gay, Kevin Martin, Eric Gordon, Bonzi Wells, Jerry Stackhouse, Jason Terry, Michael Redd, Danny Granger, Ben Gordon, etc etc These were guys who regularly gave you 20+ seasons throughout the 00’s and were rarely if EVER all stars
I don’t think he would eat like that because of the defense. A lot of help defense and zone. It’s made for players who could move without the ball or consistently hit 3s. Also, efficiency is important. Mash-man was not efficient and took a lot of shots. He’d average 20 but nothing crazy. His game ain’t fit for todays game.
@@Blaxican3624nobody was “efficient” back in those days. All of the top wing scorers in the late 90s early 2000s were shooting around 42-45% fg and 32-36% 3P.
"Playin’ Sega Saturn, I ball like Jamal Mashburn" - Mac Miller One of my favorite bars by the GOAT rapper, glad to see someone else giving Mash the respect he deserves. You're doing great work on this channel brother, best find of 2023 so far
My brother grew up in the 90s, as I was too young to remember that time. But Mashburn would always be mentioned with guys like Cedric Ceballos, Mookie Blaylock, and Mitch Richmond. We also had a bunch of cards from that time that has since been lost.
Mash was a beast in college. It was a shame that Mashburn and Jimmy Jackson and Kidd couldn't make it work. I was a big JJ fan... it's crazy that he and Mash never really met their real potential. I thought they'd both be great in the NBA. And I'm not knocking Jackson or Mashburn... both had long careers. I just thought they'd both be big time. Good memories
Can you make a video about Dennis Johnson? He has to be one of the most underrated players of all-time, a Finals MVP, and one of the greatest players to not be an all star.
I absolutely just love your channel. I'm an old guy so I've followed almost all of these players career. 2 guys to mention glen rice and Steve Smith. That's 92 93 heat team was so young and loaded
Michael, I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American. Javier McDaniel, Dale.....Ellis. Tom Chambers and Shawn Kemp too!
My family loved him. We had season tickets when the hornets first came to New Orleans. Him, baron davis, David west, David Wesley, PJ brown, etc. they had some moments!
I was a huge Mavs fan asva kid when the Three J's were formed... I was so excited about the possibilities! Kidd and Mash growing up together could've done some serious damage down the line.
You gotta Do Ricky Davis .. look up the interview we’re Ricky said “He was forced to dumb down his playing style and mins to give LeBron The Rookie free roam!! I definitely wanna know what happened when Lebron Came To Cleveland
I remember in another interview he said that he thought the Cavs drafted Lebron to help him. 😄 Like bro. Who told you that you’re the franchise player. 😄
When this guy came to the Heat we were so excited finally the wing we needed to compliment Timmy and Zo. But one problem with Mashburn, the guy would do a disappearing act in the playoffs his scoring would drop and we didn't get it.
That's before the Mark Cuban era, I don't think Cuban would have traded all 3 of them. If it was Cuban, he would had kept Mashburn and Jkidd... but if mavs were winning with those 2, we would never gotten the opportunity of getting Mavs Goat Dirk. And we would not have all the great mavs basketball of the 2000's-2011.
Always wondered what happened to Jamal. I believe all those games are way too much especially those back to backs is ridiculous. It’s how you can get a player injured.
Monster Mash was No Joke especially when he was in Dallas
Another forgotten star , dude was a certified bucket , 3 level scorer
Yeah before he got injured

Monster Mash had a cold post & midrange game. Man I miss the previous eras. Who wants to watch chuck up three pointers all game? 😫😫😫

He was Mr. Inside and outside. His whole scoring package was out of this world. Mash was him!
3 level beast
If it hadn’t been for injuries, Monster Mash would have been a similar player to Carmelo Anthony. Off the court though dude has become an awesome businessman.
Do Jimmy Jackson next!! he was a scoring machine he was a journeyman but he was solid on every team he played on.
Lol those early 😊Jimmy, Jason, and Jamal Dallas teams were tight!
Those teams coached by Dick Motta were really fun! They didn't have a lot of talent, but it was fun to watch them jack up what seemed like a ton of threes! Except now several teams average more threes than what used to be the record.
Low key one of my favorite players all time!! Smooth game...walking bucket. Spin move was killing people. Definitely underrated
Mash was lethal he would easily average 30 in today's NBA
He has an injury at one point and he was never the same after that I think it was when he played for the heat
Idk about easily. It’s tougher to play post in todays game due to the help and zone defense. He was a slow pace player. But damn he is the most underrated players in the 90s.
Mashburn would be used the same way that the Pelicans utilize Zion. He most def would average close to 30 in today’s NBA
Favorite college player of all time along with El-Amin from UConn & Simon from Zona.

Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd, and Jimmy Jackson was a great combination in the 1994-95 Mavericks season.
Amal, Ason, and Immy, because none of them got a J
I loved Mash at Kentucky

Mac Miller goat rapper. Ok. You just meme'ing.
Mash, one of my favorite Forwards of that era…!!!
This man averaged 20 PPG in his last season in the NBA! That’s amazing
You should do Alex English from the Denver nuggets. One of the most prolific scorers during the '80s.
He's is so underrated
@@GHOST91141 he’s in the hall of fame though
He scored more points than anyone in the 1980's that includes Micheal Jordan.
Kiki Vandeweghe too!

Another good player lost 2 time. Rod Strickland next plz
Yeah, Strickland was a great pg
These videos are perfectly done.
Need one on World B. Free if you haven't done one already. Bucket getter in the late 70s early 80s
Bro i love your channel!!!!! Your research is solid! Can you do one on Chocolate Thunder Darrel Dawkins or Mike Bibby or Shawn Marion?
He did the monster mash
(The monster mash) It was a graveyard smash
Thank you
I had his NO Hornets jersey.....was a huge fan of him
Do Detlef Shermpe next first European All star three time selected
Always wanted the Knicks to get him instead of Charles Smith.
Very underrated before Dirk was the best German to play in the NBA
Detelf was a baller
That's a good suggestion
I wish we would have kept DS instead or trading him for Mckey my Pacers traded him and Chuck Person but we did improve addition by subtraction
As a Heat fan, love some Mash.
Damn done at only 31?? Should be ur prime.
Dang Mashburn. Just finished watching his “Stunted Growth” episode. 🤣😂🤣😂🤦🏾♂️
Cuttino Mobley next
I know over the decades there have been plenty high scoring good players but it seems like the 90's were the best.

he was naturally well built at around 240-245 which was kinda rare at sf

Chris Webber
Kobe Bryant
Kevin Garnett

The Triple J's, not the three J's.
Mashburn, hardaway, morning trio should have accomplished way more then they did. What a hood all around team on paper.
Jordan!!!
a lil before my time as a Hornets/Pels fan (became a fan in 2007)...sucks that he fell victim to injuries like most that've played in New Orleans smh
He was the Zion Williamson of his era
