He really hit his absolute peak in 96/97, precisely at the All-Star Game, where he won ASG MVP. He went on an absoulte tear after that, was able to prolong it till the end of the 97/98 season. Then he got traded to LA and a reduced role plus age caugth up with him. It also seemed that he wasn't able to stay in great shape as he got older. Still, a heck of a player and one of my favorites to watch in the mid-90s
I think the lakers held him back In that system, he wasn’t happy. Looking back, he shouldn’t have been so selfish because he played on mediocre teams for so long and should have been happy to win finally. Wonder besides the lakers during that time would glen rice have fit in? A situation where can just shoot but be a second star or first option on offense. Stockton and Malone with rice would have been good.
@@RoyPage1970yes because aside from both deadly from 3 and mid-range, Richmond was a stronger finisher and also played tougher defense...but would also like to see Rice be in the HOF, too. Rice one of the greats 🤩
Just seeing this vid.. and he won States twice in HS. Idk about HoF but as a fan of the OG Hornets I’ve been a fan of his game for a while (let’s no talk about defense tho 😬😜)

8th most points in the NBA during the 1990s, retired with the 5th most 3s made, 3x All-Star, 1x All-Star MVP, led league in 3-pt FG % in 96-97, 1996 Long Distance Shootout champion, record for most points in an NCAA Tournament run, Michigan’s all-time leading scorer. Has won championships in both the NCAA and NBA. He definitely has a case to be in the HoF with these accolades/recognition. We’ve seen players get in with less.
Glenn Rice was a walking bucket. I can never forget G Money. he still holds the NCAA Tournament Record of 184 points in 6 games. he set the record in 1989. and in the NBA he hit more 3 point shots then any other NBA Player drafted before him. Great video. Rice was a terrific scorer. How about Alex English? He was the man with the Nuggets during the 1980s. Tremendous scorer and a truly nice guy, Alex didn't have a big ego and never went crazy drawing attention to himself.
English probably the most underrated player of the 80s along with Bernard King's greatness and was a dominant scorer, even leading the NBA in '83, but maybe playing in Denver hurt his popularity some instead of a major market like NY, LA, Chicago, Boston or Houston for instance. He was great in the movie Amazing Grace and Chuck also which was and is still an underrated movie also. Somebody give this man his roses and let him smell them before it's too late...lol!!👍

Glen Rice is my third favorite player ever behind Jordan and Kobe. He's why I became a Hornets fan and still suffer as one to this day lol. I have a signed bobble head he sent me and I've talked to him through Instagram. He is a whole different level of class than most. Great family man and so proud and supportive of his kids. The league needs more guys like Glen Rice. Absolutely should be in the HOF. He did everything. He was a hallmark on a Heat expansion team and gave them relevance. Helped do the same thing in Charlotte. Won a college championship, an NBA All Star MVP and NBA title. He is an all-time great shooter and arguably would have had even more success in today's NBA than the 90s. He improved every team he went to at a high level and did it with an aura of professionalism and leadership. That's the definition of a HOFer IMO.

Rice was a beast until his wife negotiated his contract while Rice was a Laker😂 i think she was the reason the lakers parted ways with Rice

Great vid man! And your right, he was one of the greatest all-around scorers of all time, not just a sharpshooter. Rice was SOOOOOO much more than just a phenomenal shooter, it really annoys the crap outa me the way he's described by modern sports media as being a one-dimensional spot up shooter. He didn't become that until he was at LA, following foot/knee injuries - which severely limited his explosiveness and athleticism. People who watched him would know that while at Michigan and through to his time playin for both the Heat and then Hornets - that he actually was also a dangerous slasher with underrated finishing ability. His lack of great quickness, nor good ball-handling ability - was made up for by the fact that due to him being such a feared and deadly shooter, all he'd have to do was make the slightest up fakes and it would routinely send his defender souring off the ground to contest the faked jump-shot, allowing him to drive to the hoop and finish. He also was simply unguardable in the post along with being a good rebounder. Though he never was a great defender, he certainly wasn't the worst either, like how he's often portrayed
