Why so much hate in these comments? His dad was a legend. Created a career for himself. His son watched and learned from his dad. His dad spent the last two decades managing his son. Perhaps he chose that bike because he didn't want to wind up in the hospital like his daring dad had done so many times. Until someone actually gets on a bike and jumps a couple hundred feet and lands perfectly, no one should say a negative thing. Especially about anyone's nationality. Thanks for posting this!

LOL! So I have to jump a couple hundred feet to say something. Did you jump you must have but landed on your head to make such a ridiculous argument. 😭

He landed a bit short on the safety deck. Its a good thing these bikes can take it !!. Evel landed short at the palace and that old triumph just threw him over the bars. It's great to see Robbie carrying on in his fathers footsteps because let's face it , evel knievel invented this stuff way back.

Knievel's a smart man. The last four trucks were covered by the extended landing ramp. I've seen other jumpers that could've avoided death if they would've took the same precaution.

His back wheel hit the flat. Robbie used modern motorcycle technology so the quality back shock he was using took the impact well. If he was jumping on Evils older motorcycle, the back wheel would have shot up and he would have gone endo and out of control like Evil used to do when coming up short.

incase you missed it thats not what would have happened. Evel missed one just like this and broke the rim and still made it. another time he came up short and the frame cracked and collapsed, he still made it. Then there was the time that he missed the ramp completely, well he didn't make that one but the bike survived.

yeah I agree with the comments about how he didn't jump the physical trucks but rather the distance the trucks represent, which certainly is awesome all by itself but notice how the last 3 or 4 trucks are pulled back... it's not hard to observe the physics of motorcycle jumping.......look at the 300ft jumps done off gigantic "earth made" ramps by motocross guys. How far downward do they have to fall in order to achieve the distance?(ie ski jummping). That said, Evel Knievel was a true innovator,an American folk hero and a genuine dardevil. I'm not sure he was a very nice person but that's ok.Robbie has made an amazing number of sucessfull jumps and as Shadoninja points out, on a completely different bike.Robbie is great in his own right and deserves his props...but his Dad Evel,(Robert Craig) essentially created the sport, and at least, brought it to our attention.

I have so much respect for Robbie, to follow such a great showman (Legend) footsteps like he has and to push himself to do these fantastic and dangerous jumps, He is just as good as watching his father and im positive Evel is surely proud of him. Robbie is a lot different to his Dad, A lot more relaxed and uses much better bikes, Evel had a liking for Honda's and even worked selling them. Ok u see freestyle riders and the Metal Mulisha do as good if not better out in the desert and shows, but im sure every one of them would have 100% respect for Robbie and his Dad. There's a iOS game called Daredevil Dave, and if you set the camera up as first person, it's pretty cool how the speed must be perfect to 1 or 2 mph for the jump to be successful. That and of course, the angle of the takeoff ramp. Obviously I haven't jumped over cars and as a preteen, we would use a makeshift ramps and jump over stuff with our bicycles. I went over the handlebars a few times but came out of it just scraped up. Kids wanted to be like Evel Knievel. Robbie has done very well.

The ramp at the end has a horizontal piece built over the last 4 trucks, so that doesn't count imo, because that way they could have built that piece of ramp over the last 10 trucks, and still come up with the same excuse that it's the distance that counts, so the ramp is there just in case.
