  • Grey & Cold but little wind and a pretty fresh layer of snow. I had no place special to go so just did some pattern work to keep my mind of the Blocked Airline Merger I was kind of looking forward to.

This is so zen. No talking to the camera, just engine noise and scenery. You're also a boss for flying door open in the winter! I was saying recently that "Stress" in the IMSAFE checklist is sometimes ok. Flying can be a stress reliever.

Right after the news dropped I noticed myself making a lot of little mistakes I normally wouldn't have.

Really zen. Relaxing to watch. Is the Chief less relaxing to use for pattern work?

Love your videos! I’m a jetBlue pilot, crazy times! I do have a Cub as well. I do not get snow in my location, but I do fly with my doors shut when it is in the 30’s and 40’s 🥶. Keep the videos coming! I hope something positive comes from Spirit and jetBlue.

Below 65 degrees or so my door is shut unless I’m really bundled up! My hands are always the first to go. Great vid as usual.

Love seeing you fly that J-3 with the door down and the window up in the dead of winter!! I’ve had several people ask me how I do it and I’ll ask them how does a motorcyclist do it hahaha
As always, great video and great pattern work Joe!

Joe we're pulling for you in the job situation. I hope that works out the way you'd like it to. Really enjoy your J-3 flying. I used to love pattern work in a J-3 with my brother.

Beautiful and excellent filming Joe !!! This really brought back my "Cub" years of which I still hope to regain at this retired period of my life.
In regards to the airline job, I'll tell you and I am sure you are seasoned enough in life that you may know this but just to remind you ---- as I have told my kids, life to me has been like body surfing in the ocean and swimming in the ocean, just drift with the currents, if you get in a bad situation, drift keep your head above the water and you will be brought to the place where you can easily get back to where you belong. If you swim against these currents no matter how strong you think you are as a swimmer, most likely you will loose. Same in life, just drift with circumstances that are a result of you doing the best you can do and you will end up where you are suppose to be in life. My experience, even what I thought was the worst thing possible at the time has opened doors in a good way and is even how I met my wife of 35 years, and brought me a son and daughter ( not sure if that is good or bad-----ha !!!!! ---- kidding --- )
Anyway just " Drift !!! " I'm glad the Cub was available for you to help relieve some stress, ---- just can't beat the 'Cub", to get you to a happy place..................

Do you have skis for the cub. I got a little bit of time with skis in a J-3 when I got my tailwheel signoff.
