Wow!!! That is so amazing. The moving propeller is incredible. Awesome job Paul. You are a stellar master with your talent and creativity. Thanks so much for sharing. 💕😊💕🇺🇸
That is exactly right. I used to have one of these as a kid. There was a spring inside that the cog/thumb wheel rubbed against as you turned it, creating the same sort of sound you got when clipping a playing card to your bike wheel.

Wow. Absolutely perfect job Paul.. Great Hurricane. Have a nice weekend my friend 😎👍
Really cool video 👍 nice to see you challenge your self with something a little different. Loved how you managed to fit all the electronics inside that was brilliant.
Fantastic restoration job. You and your hands are so talented. Making parts and putting a motor in for the propeller was an amazing move. You brought this plane back to life. Thanks for sharing.
Back in 1970-72 I had a marine spitfire with battery, motor and propeller. Wish I still had it 50 years on. Great restoration Paul, love the fact that you do the box, not seen anyone else do that. Subscribed.
Nice job. I used to have a Dinky Toys Spitfire that actually had a small motor in it from the factory. It used to take a very small battery that was housed under a plastic cover at the rear of the fuselage.
Wow. I've got the same plane and model in exactly the pre-restoration condition that I've had for probably 42 years. It was one of my favourite childhood toys and to see how it looked when I first got was fantastic. Thank you for a great video and a wonderful trip down memory lane
As a child I had the same model, I think I remember a wheel behind the cockpit that, when rotated, imitated the sounds of the machine guns. Those wheels never did stay up though.
@@BoyneShark yes the wheel behind the cockpit is like a ratchet and imitates the guns. Mine still works. I think I pulled the wheels off as they just hung low and never stayed up
That is a wonderful restoration Paul, were you tempted to change the markings to the 302 and 303 squadrons that were heroically flown by Polish pilots during the battle of Britain.
Said it before, will say it again, '' Wouldn't believe these restorations if I hadn't seen them with my own eyes''. I always try to watch one of these when I get 'internet time'. One day......I will have to have a go, though I am under no illusions, this must take vast amounts of knowledge of how materials behave and which to use, for what, and when, how, why ?
Bravo. I thought for a moment I was in the Hawker factory. Very nice restoration. Love the motorization of the propeller. Nice touch. Don’t try a wheels up landing with this one. Ha! Fantastic work Paul.
on the tale, one stickers is upside down... its blue - white - red.... and on the tail there is 1 red- white - blue... but very nice indeed the plain !
Best yet. Indistinguishable from magic. You are the master at this stuff old boy. How can I get pictures of my "free to a good home" play worn models to you to choose from? Regards Graham
I used to work opposite meccano, dinky in binns Road Liverpool and used to get the models at low prices from the shop. Still got them in their boxes....Happy days...sad when they closed. They were more models than toys really because of the quality of them.
@Paul Restorer I did indeed ......the sad thing was when dinky closed down the people were told by the bosses and they literally just walked out and left everything....for example if someone was eating their lunch in the canteen ..they just upped and left halfway through a sandwich. It was a sad end to a great company......I also knew the press officer for meccano, he told me that when Frank hornbybstarted the business ..and they wrote instruction books for the meccano kits, they would put mistakes in the instructions so that people would have to work out what thebprobl2m was and build it properly.....in hornbys words...it made engineers of the future......we have lost alot when dinky and meccano as was closed. Happy days thank you for the work you do on these. This stuff should not be forgotten.....
Nice job was a shame the parts were missing, if you get some flat clock springs they are very useful when doing parts like the wheel springs you made from plastic👍
This plane never had a motor. It had a thumb wheel on the top. When it was turned it clicked and was supposed to simulate a machine gun sound. It was sold as a kit. I built it and I used the paint supplied, but it was never really suitable for handling as the paint never really dried hard so it had a lot of fingerprints. The spitfire and Messerschmitt had motors. The stuka had no motor but it had a cap bomb.
Spectacular job , I saw the Battle of Britain film when it was first released I was about 6 years old. In the theatre lobby were spiral British and German flags hanging from the ceiling to represent the planes trails , seeing the one on the box brought back a memory . Cheers keep it up

It was a great restoring, detailed and professionally done, but I'm not personally very fond of glossy finishing, but that's personal, don't take me wrong. Your job is awesome. Kudos!
Awesome job. I mean really great, the end result look fantastic. And the update is genius. I couldn’t imagine how thrilled I’d be to have this as a boy. (But it looks like it would’ve been too expensive for me! )
Can't remember the Hurricane all you could buy was the spitfire, i had the one with the motor/prop, battery was put under the fusalage back in 1971. Not sure if it was the Çorgi or Dinky.
Love your work ... The glossy paint looks fantastic. I think the decal's on the rear wing are upside down as I think they should be ...Red, White & Blue. Looks great though.
Wow , that's a fantastic restoration Hawker Hurricane airplane project , my friend . The work at the body and the finishing and preparing for painting is really great . The electrical part with the engine is also amazing . The final result with the painting and the functional engine is really fantastic . What a great project , my friend and thank you so much for sharing !🏅🏆🎩👌🏻👍🏻
Nice job! I restored one of these into a mark 1 Battle of Britain era. I deleted the cannons and filled the ratchet slot behind the canopy. I painted it a similar livery as the Dinky Spitfire and also modified the propeller to look more appropriate for a mark 1.

Way back in the 70s dad did 3 spitfires for myself and 2 brothers with the battery propeller we still have all 3 and with the rego he had I think the last letter as our initial P, A and I. We also have 3 seaking helicopters with battery main rotor
What a great restoration! I am speechless! I can truly picture myself playing & running with this plane (also making plane noises with my mouth hehe!). Best wishes as always!
Really beautiful, I noticed when you were fitting the canopy that there were exhaust port on, did you decide it wasn’t the right look? And it incredible that you were even able the fix the box to replicate.
All of the parts for these Dinky aircraft can be purchased on eBay. There are quite a few people selling all the bits and pieces including cockpit canopies, exhaust stubs, props, the rachet gear for the rear of the canopy and everything else. From the look of the untouched stubs that hold the oleo leg springs It looks like this may have been one of the rarer kit releases of this Hurricane rather than the finished product. Very nice finished model.

Has dejado el avión listo para volver a volar , paul tu agudeza e ingenio hace que parezca el trabajo más fácil, Enhorabuena.

IIRC, the slot behind the cockpit was for a thumb-wheel, which, when turned, made a clicking sound intended to emulate the guns firing.
That is exactly right. I used to have one of these as a kid. There was a spring inside that the cog/thumb wheel rubbed against as you turned it, creating the same sort of sound you got when clipping a playing card to your bike wheel.

Love your work ... The glossy paint looks fantastic. I think the decal's on the rear wing are upside down as I think they should be ...Red, White & Blue. Looks great though.
Thank you very much
They are not upside down. Look at any colour photo. They are Blue , white and red.
But ... Bit... That's French???
Amazing, with such attention to detail I’d have re-do wing roundels as they have a white edge
Thank you very much
Mega impressed with the canopy Paul, great job.
