⚠️ Again, please don't send any hate or harrassment towards the artist i mentioned in this video.
🌟 EDIT: I wish i had given more context on the age of consent in Japan. Apperently it's 18 in most of Japan including Tokyo and only in some prefectures it's 13. More information on it can be found here: helpto.pro/age-of-consent-in-japan-and-why-it-so-low/

Minor nitpick but the book lolita is very explicitly against the sexualization of minors. Vladimir Nabokov made it very clear that his book is anti-pedophile and was very careful not to romanticize the subject. The reason why the book has the reputation that it does is due to the film adaptations' portrayal of the events in a romantic light.

@Judgement Kazzy I feel like people tend to assume that all Japanese people watch anime, when the majority does not, maybe growing up or here and there like cartoons (yesanimeisliterallycartoons) but the majority does not consume anime like Americans do. The term “otaku” is negative and offensive here, while western anime fans brandish the term with pride. If someone likes anime like a hobby it’s often hidden or just not put out there like how Americans do. The term lolicon is literally the word for pedophilia here. So is shotacon. If someone says they like it to someone random who isn’t big on anime, they will be seen as a pedo. This is a bit different between otakus, as I feel like their opinions would be like the western opinion. But like I said, they’re not nearly the majority. Also I have no idea what happened to that :^//

@@genoswest7253 Damn! So glad to know it's seen in this way in Japan! I had an argument with someone some time ago about how lolicon and shotacon "is a normal and accepted thing in Japan", I was really shocked and a bit disappointed that in this country these ideas seem to be accepted, mostly for business purposes - but you now give me a different look on it and I hope it's really how it is, like YOU say. Anyway, I noticed quite a long time ago how Western people in general (I guess mostly kids and newbies) change an original meaning of Japanese terms. Something that sounds there offensive - here is portraited like something positive. This is really disrespectful and confusing, and puts Japan in a bad position. So many people like to fetishize this country and make it look like a place where literally everything is acceptable, while in reality this country has so high morals and rich culture :/

I had a discussion about this topic with someone who used shows like American Dad, South Park, Family Guy and FLCL as an argument to why drawings are never harmful. The thing is, well... It's not true. The moment you use shows that are meant to clearly be satyrical traits of society as an example to justify or deny something is the moment you lose your points (in my book).
Just because it's fictional doesn't mean that the emotions expressed aren't. What should we make another movie that actually sexualize kids? Like Cuties? Or broadcast actual CP? Also, if those are so harmless, why aren't broadcasted on TV for EVERYONE? To kids even?

About the whole Lolita thing, I personally, as someone who has read the book, don’t believe it would count as CSEM because the whole book is meant to show the reader how disgusting Humbert’s (the p*do) actions towards Dolores (the 12 year old girl) are. Nabokov also put a lot of social commentary about the sexualization of minors in Hollywood (e.g. Shirley Temple) in the book.
I hope this is a clear answer! Brilliant video btw! :))

In Japan it is illegal for 13 year olds to "do it" at all, making it the default age of consent. It is illegal for anyone to "do it" with someone under 13, yes. Though under the child welfare act if your unmarried and "do it" with someone under 18 that's illegal. It's like this mostly so if minors from the ages of 13-17 are caught "doing it" it is not illigal. This is a common misconception that really really should be talked about more!!!!

So, I'm apart of the Lolita fashion community. I just want to explain to everyone that there is a very big difference between Loli/Lolita h3ntAi, and Lolita fashion.
Lolita fashion is a subculture where people dress up in cute (or gothic) Victorian-inspired outfits. It's an expensive hobby, especially if you are plus-sized like myself. I don't even have a full outfit yet and I've been working towards it for about two years now. Lolita fashion is not generally fetishized like Loli/Lolita h3ntAi is, because many people in the community are adults. [Edit 1: Though respectfully different, I think of Lolita fashion as cosplay in terms of price, wigs, accessories, and elaborate design].
Loli/Lolita p0rn on the other hand, is disgusting and should be illegal in every country. Whoever enjoys or supports it should be in jail for the rest of their lives. I have nothing more to say on that subject.

Hey there! I've been a part of the community for a year now myself. I'm kind of worried that saying something about normal clothes on a video that covers very very disgusting topics might do more harm than good ;; especially saying to think of it as cosplay is off since it's really not.

Hi, thanks for leaving a comment and expressing how you feel. Like I said, my original comment was to clear up a misunderstanding. I did see a few comments compare Lolita fashion to Lolita XXX when the two were completely different, which is why I made the comment to begin with. It would do more harm than good if I did not clear up the misunderstanding at all, since people unfamiliar with the fashion would not know the difference.
And I only compared it to cosplay because it too is a very expensive hobby. Buying full detailed outfits, wigs, accessories, and so on. It was not meant to diminish the style or call it a costume as I now see that wording has done. You have a good weekend too!

While I completely agree with this video, I do wanna give an example I always use when talking about the difference between trauma art & CSEM: the comic "Daddy's Girl" - this was a comic that came out in the 90s that tackled an in*est-p*dophilc abuse situation and was used to tell a story about a girl being hurt by her father. The reason this works as a heartbreaking story is that it shows the trauma and it never normalizes what is happening.
I'm a firm believer that trauma artwork/media can and "should" be made, without comics such as Daddy's Girl and (strangely) episodes of Law & Order SVU I wouldn't have realized what I was going through was not right, and that I wasn't alone.
    HOWEVER -
This work should never EVER be made in the same vein as normal NSFW. And trauma/vent should always be tagged properly for those who block the tags and restrict minors from viewing
My question to end off on to artists who make l*li/sh*tacon artwork is this: How would you feel if someone used your art to groom a real-life child?

Personally, I believe that trauma art should be kept to oneself and if shared, shared with a professional who deals with people who have been through those traumatic scenarios before ESPECIALLY if there are depictions of children. The fact that milk said that calling a trans woman a p*do should not be done under any circumstance is extremely concerning! If people see you doing something that warrants that kind of response, then maybe you should look deep into yourself and question why people think that rather than accusing them of being transphobic and hating you because I feel like that is just a cop out. Anything that has to do with putting literal children explicit situations angers me to my core because how sick do you have to be to fantasize about children like that. That is absolutely disgusting and deplorable! Sharing art with this content can create spaces for people like Milk’s followers to grow and thrive and children to believe that this is okay because these adults are consuming this art and the art is being shown to them. Every time I here about people harming children i get so angry and so sad because how could someone be so cruel to do that to a child? And even if they are imagining them in explicit situations or consuming it in media, that’s so disgusting and wrong and sickening. Just unspeakably horrible. Sorry for any typos, topics like these make me heated and My thoughts are coming off the top if the head.

I think trauma art shouldn't be fully kept to yourself and your therapist. It can be shared, because consuming such media also sometimes helps with coping. HOWEVER. It should be highly restricted. It shouldn't just be freely floating in the net for random people to see, especially children. It should AT LEAST be age restricted. AT LEAST. I know that it's hard for popular artists to do, but I know a person who requires people to talk to her and explain why they want to see certain art (and some other things, to be sure about them - even though she doesn't draw anything really unsafe, just usual NSFW, and she uses such a method to protect herself from stealing and posting things on net). I think it will make at least some difference. But - again, most of the times you don't become popular by drawing and sharing trauma art, I can't just see such a situation, it's just not how it works. If it happens, probably something isn't quite okay.
And you totally SHOULDN'T profit of it. Well, technically - I can totally see someone profiting of coping mechanisms of others (we already see it a lot in real world), but for art even in theory it sounds disgusting. It's awful. It's just... Unimaginable.
Once again, I already commented on Sherliza Moe's vid on it, I draw trauma art myself sometimes - I don't share it but I can see myself sharing it with people who experienced the same/similiar things, and I see how it can help them.
But honestly, another thing is that a lot of these "trauma arts" are not trauma art at all, it's a shell for just fetishizing, pedophilia and lots of other things, and it's SHOWING. It's SHOWING that THIS one piece wasn't made for cope but for personal/audience pleasure, especially for an eye of an actually traumatized person. And it's... Well. I don't know English enough to explain how I feel about it. Disgusting stuff.

I like the idea of it being age restricted to protect children and maybe even restricted so that not everyone can access it. That way it can be used as an actual safe space for people who have dealt with that type of trauma and find looking at art as a way to cope with it.

I've had to draw trauma art, I had an art therapist and years later, I still drew shit to help me through my trauma. some of this shit was disgusting and sexual in nature, but it was NEVER drawn in a cutesy manner, in fact, I remember everything I ever drew was covered in tear stains because I was UPSET while drawing this shit. tear stains ruined all the ink and markers I used, and I NEVER would have posted ANY of this art that I made for PROFIT. let alone post it on the internet at fucking all!!! I threw it all away when I was done because of how disgusting it was.
there is nothing wrong with drawing trauma art to get through your traumatic past, but when you start to monetize cutesy drawings of kids in sexually explicit situations and claim it's "just trauma art" and when you're called out for it you go "oh, I'm trans though, and you all coming to me with your opinions of WHAT I PUBLICLY PUT OUT ON THE INTERNET is transphobia bullying, all of you art TERFs who don't understand trauma -peace emoji-"
I'M TRANS, I'VE BEEN THROUGH TRAUMA, IN NO WAY WOULD I EVER MONETIZE MY TRAUMA ART OR CLAIM "TRANSPHOBIA" WHEN I'M RIGHTLY CALLED OUT FOR SOMETHING.
no one would fucking care about what Stwawberry drew IF THEY WERE ALL ADULTS!!!
the only reasons people care is because she's depicting children engaging in sexually explicit situations, making money off of these images, and claiming people who call her out "don't care about trauma victims" and "are transphobic"
I'm even seeing people in the comments on this video saying the same shit: "this proves none of you care about trauma victims"
WE FUCKING CARE, THAT'S WHY WE'RE CALLING THIS PERSON OUT.
THEY'RE USING THEIR PAST TRAUMA AND THE FACT THAT THEY'RE TRANS TO CONTINUE MAKING MONEY OFF OF ART OF CHILD PORN. THAT'S FUCKING INSULTING TO OTHER VICTIMS OF TRAUMA.
if StrawberryMilk wants to keep drawing this, I really don't fucking care, but don't fucking post it, let alone MAKE MONEY OFF OF IT.
I'm positive she could make money off other things she draws, she could just draw adults??? it's... not that hard????? to not draw porn of children??? no one is putting a gun to her head saying "DRAW AND POST THIS CHILD PORN FOR MONEY OR DIEEE"
it's her own choice, she's a grown ass woman choosing to post this. no one is immune to criticism.
StrawberryMilk's art style is fucking adorable, I'll admit that. I'm an artist too and I know talent when I see it. but it's being WASTED by her pandering to pedophiles and other degenerates and parading it around as "trauma art by a trans woman uwu"
stop standing up for her, she's a deplorable grown ass woman using the "trans" and "trauma art" excuses to sell drawn child porn.

Hey so this might've been said in earlier comments: but the book Lolita by Nabokov is explicitly against the sexualisation of its titular character. Lolita isn't even the name of the character the main character is pursuing, but specifically a name that she is called in order to romanticise and depersonify her. The book never sexualises the minor, frequently depicts the gruesome, disgusting ways that the predator acts and thinks of justifying his behaviour, as well as frequent disgust expressed by its narrator telling the story of the predator.

You also never said anything about individual artists, but if you want my personal opinion (coming from an artist), I believe no matter how big or how small the artist is, they should at least hold themselves accountable for their implications and context of said artwork, instead of ignoring it and making the situation worse than it needs to be. That didn't stop anyone from having issues with these twitter artists. In their community it's pretty normal for them too

Honestly, even if what she created constituted as trauma art, i cannot imagine why you would want to commodify your trauma like that. I mean, the point of trauma art is to help you move on from your trauma, but if its a large part of your income, the likelihood of her letting herself move on from it is small. I mean, why would you let go of something that provides some kind of financial stability? (As much as art can, anyways.) Obviously there's a lot else wrong with the whole situation, but I just cannot imagine why you would want to sell your trauma to others like that, especially in a way that romanticizes and promotes the things that caused that trauma to begin with.

I am honestly scared for every minor who has or has yet to be encountered by a predator.
I recently received anonymous text messages from people I didn't know. Usually that wouldn't have bothered me since I get messages from people who knew the person who last had my number. But this time it was different.
The people (who I'm pretty sure were adult males) were sending suggestive requests and giving links to inappropriate websites as if they knew I was a female.
I told my mom, my friends, and my therapist about it. They all said the best solution is to block the texts and get my phone checked. But now I'm worried that at some point, these predators will end up tracing my phone number, finding my house, and doing horrible things to me and my younger sister. If not us, they could torture the children of the man who had my number last.
It is best for the entire world to keep people like Milk and other predators from affecting minors and scarring them for life.

Meaning you would have you click on their link or go to an inappropriate site of your own free will. If you feel like someone is tracking you through your phone, I recommend shutting your phone down completely, removing the battery, and putting it back in (if anyone is tracing you, this will stop it). It's true that there isn't anything wrong drawing trauma art to cope, but using it for profit was the issue, and creepshow failed to address it. She believes that ANYONE who indulges in such fictional work are offenders, when that isn't the case at all.

@@meowser1905 yeah, I couldn’t watch Creepshow’s video, because it came across as an angry rant that wasn’t well thought out. If I wanted that, I’d read the Twitter threads. Thumin’s video treated it with a lot more care and thoughtfulness and finally let me learn about this “drama.”

The age of consent in Japan isn't actually 13. This the minimal limit at wich each japanese "province"(don't remember how they're called) can choose to set sexual majority, what I mean is that they can't go lower than 13, not that sexual majority is 13 everywhere in japan (it's hard to explain bc english isnt my first language but I suggest you look it up to have more infos)

The age of consent in Japan is not 13. That's the MINIMUM age you could lower the age of consent to. In most prefectures, the age of consent is 16-18.

hopefully twitter can enforce their new policy on people like this if they haven't already. this is just disappointing and depressing knowing that child can be drawn in such scenarios, and i'll never understand how people can rationalise the sexualisation of children a/o their attraction to children. doesn't matter if it's cp or csem it's still wrong to exploit kids like that.

I've only watched 1/3 so far but I want to mention that the older I get(I'm 25 now) the more it shocks me realizing how normalized shotacon and lolicon was in the communities I was when I was 13 to 17 y/o. No wonder I ended up falling into the trap of a pedophile when I was 16(I barely passed as 14 and still to this day I look like a "legal minor" and attract 40-50 y/o creeps)
Edit: a few months ago I debated with one of Strawberry Milks followers about her content and with the mindset that "fetish isn't different than mere fiction" .. let's say those people are hard to convince that what they do and support is wrong. dw I was nice, at least I tried my best

It's embarrassing on how some grown adults support this, and act blind like they don't know that being a p3do is wrong. I hate that people use excuses. Like being in the lgbtq+ doesn't mean you have rights to do disturbing things like this, you're still human you're not a goddess that deserves respect. And the fact that milk used this excuse and called someone transphobic, this just gets on my nerves.

Actually let's cancel shadman for drawing pron of keemstar's daughter because that's actually illegal 😾 canceling people for pixels that doesn't even have any correlation of a real life breathing child is a dumb idea and litterally doesn't stop any abuse

I love how you make different and new art for each video. A lot of art commentary channels use the same artwork for everu video. I don't mind it when they do that since they just don't have time but it is amazing how you make time to create new art for every video.
