    Not sure if you caught it yet but energy seems to be global or at least cross parcel. So any parcel could have the coal plant and the energy % went up across all the parcels equally. So maybe put all the coal plants in HQ and let the additional parcels focus on their products.

    Hey bud, little thing i noticed on this one, the basic factory has 16 slots, 10 miners and then the corresponding 5 smelters with 1 coal miner would fit perfectly, this goes for the stone, iron, copper and quartz from what ive seen so far, so maybe use the basic factories to make the basic things, and have them all ship to the HQ, then have the next phase in the HQ, so gears, steel, silicon, and so on. Maybe having 1 basic factory as a power plant would be useful, this could also ship its spare coal to the HQ, so you would have things working a little better. Maybe.....

    Its so minimalist that's basically only the simulation, more minimalist than that we get an Excel sheet.

      The user interface might be minimalist, but don't be fooled. There's actually quite a bit of strategy and design challenges that you work through while playing.

      It's kind of like a high level factory ecosystem designer. In the game you build out and link numerous different factory-sites (called "parcels").
      Parcels are of different sizes which determines how many factory buildings they can hold. Parcels also have a limited number of import/export connections which you can use to link to other parcels and exchange products.
      There are some long production chains you need to implement which will span multiple parcels. There's a tech tree and the equivalent of science packs you'll need to build in order to progress through the tree.
      You don't need to worry about placing conveyor belts or placing mining machines on ore deposits, but there are plenty of challenges and strategies you're going to need to work through.
      I don't play many games like this, but I'm really enjoying Incremental Factory. 😺

    Looks like Power is global; build a basic power plant parcel or 3?

      So far, it looks like power is not transmitted across factories (parcels). You have to generate the power within the local factory that's consuming it.
      I do a test later in the playthrough that shows that.
      I'm still just getting started so there may be an upgrade down the road that changes that.

      There's something about these minimalist, node-based games that can be really fun if they're done right. I previously featured a game called Nodes and another called Masterplan Tycoon, that had similar gameplay and problem-solving challenges.

      @@Glidercat It looks almost to be my “perfect” game. Potentially. I love factory games, but I LOVE good incrementals. My top 2 (by PlayedHours) games are “My Chronicle” and “Increlution”, each having as many hours played as the rest of my games library combined (and I’d HIGHLY recommend each if/when you want to supplement factory builders or off-screen enjoyment. They’re both *incredibly* good). I’ve been hoping for a *good* factory incremental for years. I’d hoped “Factory Town Idle” would fit the bill, but it was….just plain boring, tbh. I played Nodes quite a bit while you were playing it; it was very good, though not great, at the time. Later builds killed it for me. Masterplan Tycoon was good, but more of a puzzle game than I’d want for a factory builder, and more scenario driven than I’d want for an incremental.
      This one, though, looks to be *exactly* what I’ve been looking for, or at least the elements to be so. And I absolutely LOOOOOOOOVE the black-box factories (Masterplan Tycoon did a good job with this, as well). I can’t wait to find out how I.F. does Prestiging (if it does).

      I haven't discovered the purpose of coal ash, but it doesn't seem to be backing up my production at all. 🤞

    Why not using the basic ones as miners? A mine of coal of 16 buildings

      You can definitely do that.
      The only limitation you run into is that each parcel (factory site) can only have a limited number of connections for import/export. There are different types of parcels you can unlock that allow for more or less buildings inside and more or less import/export connections.
      I'm just learning the game, so I'll probably be changing things and experimenting with different designs as we play on.

      I still think it will be more eficient to have the basic on mining and hq to process and focus on production, then you cn change the factories on the need. You can have a basic on coal and power of you want.
      This game is 60% with something that I try to build 3 years ago. Nice job

      I think the main goal is simply to have fun designing factories and working through the challenges that come up.
      There's also a tech tree to complete and there may be some final goal at the end, I'm not sure.

    Hmmm. Talk about unique! While well done, the game doesn't click for me as I do tend to favour graphical games :-)

      I can understand that.
      You might want to check back after a few episodes to see how things progress in the mid to late game.
      Playing Incremental Factory feels a lot more like "designing" factories and logistics than it does actually "building" them.
      All of the strategy and thought processes of implementing complex production chains and working through a tech tree are there, including it's own version of the ubiquitous science packs. You also need to monitor production levels and logistics to find and correct bottlenecks as you go.
      The game introduces constraints on parcel size, which is basically a site for your factory, as well as constraints on how you link together factories for import/export of materials.
      There are quite a few things to work through as you play. I'm finding it to be quite engaging.

      It looks like it may have been released a little too early, and per the early reviews, several annoying bugs were in that initial release.
      I've only played after the most recent update, which appears to have fixed many of the problems.
      The game doesn't hold your hand or explain much and I'm sure there are more Quality of Life features and bug fixes to come.
      Having said that, I'm a little over 3 hours in and I haven't encountered any bugs at all and I've been loving the game so far.

      I have a feeling, too, that some people expected more Factorio, less Universal Paperclip. Incremental games require a specific kind of brain damage ;)

      Hahahaha! Developer’s description, taken from their “Incremental Factory - Story Trailer” video:
      “Incremental Factory, a factory building game inspired by the likes of Factorio and Universal Paperclips.”
      I just picked those two as examples in my previous comment, before seeing this description. Legend in my own mind.
