I recently completed my P2 with Superfly Paragliding over in Draper, Utah. One thing that I wasn’t quite prepared for was making the choice on what gear I was going to invest in. I liked what I had used to train in, but making the actual choice proved to be pretty hard. I was lucky enough to try and hang in several different harnesses, by several different brands which ultimately led me to the Gingo 4 by Gin. It was the most comfortable harness that I tried and it fit me really well. Once I settled on the Gingo, I then had to choose between the Verso and the Gingo because they both felt very similar but had a few differences.
I was very intrigued by the fact that the Verso is a reversible harness, but ultimately decided that that feature was pretty irrelevant for what I’m doing these days. The Verso weighs 3.9 kg whereas the Gingo weighs 3.5 kg. The Verso has air back protection, the Gingo padded back protection. The Gingo compresses down surprisingly small and I feel more confident with the padded back protection. I settled on the Gingo and knew I made the right choice.
The best thing to do to find the right full-feature harness is to try as many as you can. Head to your local shop and hang in the harnesses they have available. If you don’t have that option, reach out to Superfly. They will ship you different harnesses to try and you can just keep what fits and feels the best. For me, it was important that the harness is equally as comfortable kiting as flying. I found that in the Gingo. If I’m uncomfortable, I’m not having fun so I had to be sure I made the right choice.
My first paragliding kit consists of the Gin Gingo 4 Harness and the Gin Calypso Glider. My harness is comfortable, instills confidence and will be with me for many years. The Calypso glider is another piece I invested in that I know will grow with me. I won’t outgrow it in a short time, so there’s longevity in my investment.
If you have any technical questions, Superfly is always willing to help. They made this process super easy for me and I was lucky that I was learning there and was able to try different harnesses and gliders. This is an expensive sport and so being confident in your investment is really important!

I believe the reversible harness is the best way to go for a new pilot. The airbag is just as safe as the foam. My ears are flying I've never seen anybody get a phone unless they were next to the beach. What it really comes down to his versatility. Just about any place you fly, you'll need your gear to pack down so you can carry it. Nothing to do with hike and fly. Once you get more airtime and fly more sites you'll wish you got the reverse. But this is just my opinion. Happy flying

Verso is a great harness been flying one for a few years, did SIV in it, and had some hard landings were it saved my skin. Imagine the Gingo is very similar from what you say.
Will say though about the Verso for hiking it is really heavy for a hike and fly harness. My wing + reserve + Verso + clothing/gear = like 16KG. that is a lot for 70kg person to hike with. But as a site Harness it's awesome! I'm also on the Verso 2 witch is lighter then the new 3 so... It just got heavier. Great review!

Congrats on taking the training for paragliding. I tried it once a few months ago and really liked it. I also made a video of it if you want to see it on our channel. We flew over Salzburg in Austria. Near our house here in Germany there is a mountain called Donnersberg and we see paragliders a lot flying over our house. Some of them are REALLY way up there. In one part of the video you were on flat land. Can you take off on flat land?

It’s flat on top of the hill. But you have to go to the edge in order to find lift.

bonjour, j`ai une gingo airlite 4 et au moment du decolage il est trés dur de s`installer dedans sans devoir lacher les freins et se pousser dedans, je serre peut être trop les sangles?

Yes, it is likely that it is too tight! Try loosening the straps. Do you have somewhere where you can hang from to dial in the adjustments? That way you can practice getting out of the harness as well without actually flying. Good luck!

Hi! Thanks for the video, great! Im planning to buy a reversible harness, can you plese tell me which size you choose and your height? I'm hesitating between size S and M. 🤔

Appreciate it! I'm 5'10 and 155 pounds and went with the size medium. I have a 30" inseam and average length torso. Hope this helps! If you order from Super Fly you can ask about having two sizes sent.
