Well you guys gotta look at those first onslaught appearances now. That is when the professor x loves jean bit comes back. I was creeped out as a kid reading that.😂
The two young mutants you picked in the cover are Artie and Leech (the latter, green skinned, lived with the Morlocks). They had some relevance in the first stint of (Lodbell and Bachalo's) Generation X.
Why aren't they getting married in the Danger Room? While going through a dangerous exercise? And the Danger Room malfunctions. And the priest is a robot.
There's this really great exhibition of Marvel original art that's been traveling around for the past few years 'Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes.' It has original art from Kirby, Ditko, Romita, Byrne, Miller, McFarlane, Lee, basically anyone you want to see is represented. Classic pages by legendary artists, really great stuff. You walk out of this show with a renewed LOVE for comic art, and by proxy, the Marvel Universe. And how do they capitalize on this powerful experience? At least at the show I went to, the best they could offer up at the gift shop, on the way out the door, was a beat up display case overflowing with endless copies of X-Men #30 spilling out apathetically on the floor.
Re: which kid they would make first--Cable was already born by this point. He was the child of Cyclops and Madelyn Pryor that got sent to the future during Inferno.
Never liked Andy's X-Men. I remember lots of flat, dimensionless faces and terrible forced perspectives whenever a character (usually Psylocke) used a flying kick or attempted some dramatic pose
The respect they give to people that deserve it …in their business is outstanding…just a great show..to listen to and watch…and the Wizard…re/read…is 🔥…thank you guys👍🏼
as an old ass man …this channel…Cartoonist Kayfabe…is kinda my jam…they dive deep…👍🏼…like deep…ya have to kinda know your shit ….to even post a comment here…fortunately I do…and these guys know their shit👍🏼…
You guys plan to look at XMen 2 and 3 as well? I've searched a few times and only see you tackle 1 and then the omega red issues. If I've missed them somehow, then my bad
Great review. One of the first issues I got as a kid. Got bored real quick. I was like 10, so I was all about the fights. Also, Cable was technically already born. Madelyne Pryor is his mom.
I hate when capes comic use that crazy amount of narration boxes. Hate it hate it hate it. Now look at Savage Dragon. No narration, the dialogue and action tell the story. Savage Dragon rules!
Great review! This was a good time to be an X-Men fan. The writing was never that great, but that art just pulled you in. I still have my OG issue of this, too much nostalgia to get rid of it.
I had checked out of the X-Titles well over a year before this issue came out, but I bought it for the nostalgia… needless to say, I didn’t buy the one after it.
Rest in peace, Ed. Still can't believe this whole deal ended in such tragedy. Mistakes were made, but nothing worth a life being lost.
Wolverine's like 150 years old, right? He's got that old-timey nice handwriting.
He probably was in the background of a Ken Burns documentary
The Proff. backing up and out of the room commentary was hilarious 😂
Walden books spinner is where I got most of my comic books from 12-15 too in the mall. Good memories....
This was fun, please make Jim read more terrible X books please!
you should pair this with X-men 175, to see how Claremont writes a wedding issue
I was surprised Jim didn't point out the full moon/silhouette zine double shot at 16:50.

Designer Nicole Miller designed Jean's dress if my memory serves me correctly...
I think there’s a credit for it in the book or in one of the little ashcan previews they put out.
Yeah the preview issue establishes Miller as an in-universe friend of Jean from her modelling days.
I believe 'X-Men: The Wedding Album' released around that time has her original sketch.
Lila 1st appeared in New Mutants annual 1 - Steal This Planet, A Rock Fable. And after that she started getting it on with Cannonball for a while.
Yeah, those age gap relationships were wild
I had a copy of this… was so sure it would make me rich 🤔

For a guy that will soon lose his nose and devolve into a caveman, he has has some legit calligraphy skills.
Lol then comes back to normal like nothing happened
Lila Chaney showed up in the 80s associated with the New Mutants.
Lila Cheney is from New Mutants, way early on
Never liked Andy's X-Men. I remember lots of flat, dimensionless faces and terrible forced perspectives whenever a character (usually Psylocke) used a flying kick or attempted some dramatic pose
Agree. Hated his work on X-Men.
I agree, Adam is the stronger artist of the two
For me it was people trying to look like Jim Lee after he left. I felt the same way when he took over Batman

You finally acknowledged the ads at last 😁
Yeah, that was ...something 🤣
I was a little cheesehead when this comic came out, so it made me real happy. I hung on for another year or so before I quit buying comics as a kid.
Fun looking back at this crap. Would love to see you guys follow it up with a viewing of Uncanny X-men 300.

Great video guys

Has their ever been a good wedding issue of a superhero comic ?
Reed Richards and Sue Storm had a good wedding issue in the FF Annual. Lots of bad guys, cameos and fights.
wedding of Sue Storn and Reed Richards?
Reed and Sue’s wedding was pretty fun just a big superhero crossover fight
I remember enjoying Green Arrow & Black Canary wedding, but maybe because I'm a sucker for anything illustrated by Amanda Conner.
Does The Sandman Special: Song of Orpheus count? There's a wedding in it
well I liked it I would save terrible for most modern comics and even alot of 2000s material but to each his own
You're killing me guys. Lila was my adolescent comic book crush.

I thought this shit was so dumb when I was a kid. I love the who’s who aspect, but who cares? Closest thing to an edgy Barbie comic.

Cover copy was by Todd Klein.

Love your David Choe videos
If only he were marrying the ACTUAL mother of his child 😆😆😆
Lol we are on time with this! Just bought it for my daughter YESTERDAY! CRAZY. She read it in about 30 seconds and was done with it. 😂
I had checked out of the X-Titles well over a year before this issue came out, but I bought it for the nostalgia… needless to say, I didn’t buy the one after it.
Ch'od, right?
