  • In the first video of 2024 Barry makes a start on the jobs that need doing on the Lynsey B.
He tops up the diesel tank to try and stop Diesel Bug getting into the system while the Lynsey B is on the pier, he removes the anodes from the hull and starts to get some of the muck off the lower hull with a pressure washer.
Barry also unveils two new merchandise items and the name of the Crew Member who will be invited to take a trip on the Lynsey B this summer.
Finally, there were plenty of mistakes during filming to allow us to include the 7th Bloopers Reel at the end of this video.

Another great video Barry. It's great to see what it takes to maintain a fishing boat, ( a lot of very hard work ).As always you take your time to explain things. Looking forward to seeing the Lynsey B back in the water. Hope everything goes well with your operation on your arm. All the best Barry. Again great filming from Jeff.

My heart goes out to you, Barry my family were fisherman fowlers they moved out of Portsmouth Harbour in the mid 19th century. They moved to Emsworth which is in Chichester Harbour. In those days, they would fish in the summer months and in the winter months when possible, when the duck and geese were in, they would shoot these and send them to market. As well as they would've previously served in the Navy. Also, they used to Crew on the gentleman racing yachts for wages. There is only one commercial fisherman left, bringing his catch a shore and selling it directly to the public along with catch from the merchants.

      Hi Lee
Thank you so much for that interesting insight into your family history.
I really enjoy hearing people's experiences and how fishing was involved in so many family affairs.
It's absolutely criminal what the governments have done to this country, and once a strong food source.
But that's greed for you. You'll never satisfy the fat cats.🙄😔

You should cut those anode bolts off just proud of the nut Bazza, won’t require as much Spanish Gardener to remove and less likely to get damaged threads, that will mean not being able to remove the nut at all.

We work "fleets"/strings of 12 creels.
I would up it 15's however I'm always very aware of the same old MCA threat. I certainly know the boat can handle it, but the MCA and their BIG boat numbers, we might not be so lucky. 🙈😂😂😂 so 12's it is!😉👍
Good luck with your wee boat. Stay safe and profitable fishing.
      All the best.😁

Always love watching the Saturday morning blogs Barry 👍 and the Bloopers at the end are an added bonus 😂😂 i hope you dont have long to wait for the surgery on your arm and the recovery time will be quick!
As for you doing the editing on the blogs, you have a good repore so im sure It'll All be grand.
The MCA strikes again! Just another way of making money from the inshore fishing fleet. Unfortunately it's the same in every walk of life. I'm involved in motorsport (rallying) and renewing equipment has become a joke, putting many drivers off doing something they love because of costs.
Anyway i wish you a super 2024 catching lots of lobsters and crabs and hopefully the OMAHB channel brings much reward.
    Take care for now Barry
    Cheers
    Pete

Hi Pete, my day job is in motorsport and I 100% agree with you about the cost renewing equipment, especially why certain equipment hadn’t been used during Covid. I know a couple of club racers that pulled out due to costs of renewing equipment that still had plenty of life in it. For MCA substitute FIA / Motorsport UK😮

I've learnt a lot from our Jeff about the motor sport, and it's absolutely ridiculous that these government jockies are allowed to rule the roost without any knowledge or experience...it really blows my mind.
Neither wonder the country is in the state its in.🤷‍♂️🙈😂😂😂
Hope you have a great weekend.

Gday mate sounds like you have your work cut out for you in your off season , i think you will need to hire an industrial pressure washer that ones a toy wouldnt blow the skin of a rice puddin . and last but not least "its no a hammer " its a wrench see what happens hope you didnt hurt your hand to much . Anodes are very important on all boats and engines those fellas i talk about in tasmania have just slipped there boat they checked there anodes and rekon there is 12 months left in them as they arent cheap ,at xmas the crays were going for 115.00 kg in the shops they sold 500kg at 65.00 to the public from the boat i rekon at that price they would be running of the docks .
Took the little tub out for her first trip friday week ago engine is still in run in stage but all went well had a few little nigles one being the tracking have to adjust the trim tab anode to counteract the prop rotation ,a small amount of water came in through the bungs but not much so trying a different rubber seal not bloody nylon to see if i can stop it , chinese crap bungs . managed to get 5.9 hours up on it need 20 to do the first service the dealer wants near 500.00 i can do it for around 80.00 if you want a new oil filter thats an extra 40.00 who changes there oil and doesnt use a new filter ? i bought 2 genuine yamaha filter for 44 dollars so he will never see this engine again ive worked on all my outboards never taken to a mech stuff there warranty , all in all a good day out caught a few fish for dinner and found the problems anyway will see you on the next video take care .

      Hey Crisp buddy.
I take it annoyed you, with giving the anode a wee tap with the socket wrench, to be fair, it's one from the boat, and with all open type boats, the rust is already getting to it, so I probably helped loosen the rachet inside 🙈😂😂😂😂😂
Is that good prices for the crays? I've absolutely no idea.
I know I'd be fair chuffed at those prices.😁👌
That's great that things went well with your tub.
Thier will always be niggles to sort out especially after a renovation 😁👌
Aye, the cheek of these service people sometimes.
      I'm the same as yourself.
Rather do it myself, at least I know it's done right.😁👌
Hope you have a great weekend
      All the best, buddy.😁

Thanks barry no i was only making a joke about the wrench and your right do it yourself learn about your engine it may save your life and money .
