top stuff, even if its the biggest arshole in the fleet, once you leave the harbour you got to look out for each other.

Never a dull day mate, but good on you for the rescue 👍
Reminded me of me, 55 years ago, a 10 year old with a big clinker built dinghy, with my trusty Seagull 40+ on the back, over the years I lost count of the broken down or becalmed hire boats I towed back to the Wroxham hire yards, so many Dad made me pay for my own 'holiday' fuel, said I was earning more than him 🤣

Another brilliant video Barry well done for helping your fellow fisher oot. You never know when you might need the same help and it's always good to help out anyone who has difficulties when at sea. We had to get towed when our boat went on fire one time, not a big fire but it stopped the engine and I was worried, thankfully it was a calm day and we were not that far out. It was a lifeboat job that towed us home right to our mooring great men just like yourself. Lucky for us we have a lifeboat station in our home port of Larne.
On another note. Can you explain the use and the name of the wee net like egg timer shaped thingy on your stern mast. I have seen these before and am too embarrassed to ever ask anyone what they are and what they do. Same question applies to the wee small sail like thing on the stern of some other wee fishing boats. Are they good things to have on a boat. What do they do ?

    • @onemanandhisboat
      @onemanandhisboat  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Roddy.
Thank you so much for this wonderful comment and questions,
      Talking of which, never be
" embarrassed " about asking anything on OMAHB. There is no such thing as a silly question here, sir.😁👌
The hr glass type thing is a day signal. It is there to let everyone on the water know that I'm a fishing boat, partaking in fishing activities. 😁👌
It's just like your running lights, but for daytime use.😉👍
The sail type thing you see on other vessels is called a mizzen mast.
That's there to keep a boat in straight line when towing or creeling.
I believe it helps a lot, but I've never used one, so I'm probably not the best to ask on a setup of one 🙈😂😂😂😂
I hope that helps answer your questions.
If you have any more questions, just ask away, I promise I don't bite😉👍😂😂😂😂
Oh, and thank you for your lovely wee story. We always love to hear folks' experiences on the sea.

We are glad you enjoyed the vlog.
      As for the RNLI.
They are there to help anyone in distress out in the water, and they do so without any thought or regards for themselves, so I don't judge them for doing what they are there to do, and that's "saving lives at sea".

The horizon level on the LCD screen on the camera was all over the place but I have to say to In Body Image Stabilisation on the Fujifilm XH2S coped very well with the conditions and the GoPros were outstanding in keeping everything sharp. Good form with that tow skipper. Not a whole lot worse than bouncing around out there waiting for Sea-Tow or the Coast Guard. Back when I was a young buck on a dragger; There as a distress call in eight to ten footers. They said their main shut-down & they were taking on water. We pulled up close to them & noticed their generators weren't running also. They were riding high & out of fuel. He hung around until the Coasties showed up then beat feet in. Nice Vid. Thanx for posting.

Awesome job in unfavourable conditions, well done team 👍🏻 I had to smile, 1 must have taken thousands of photos in poor weather just too have them developed and they look like a lovely day, I have 1 with a heavy coil of rope hanging on the stern mast hanging out at 45° and a glimpse of the horizon in the corner, beautiful day people say, then you get them to turn the photo to make the rope vertical and the horizon level and you can get a measure of tilt. But the camera really won't show the power of a grumpy ocean. Top job on the rescue and getting the fleets baited ⚓🍻👍

I'm glad you enjoyed the LynseyB's 1st rescue. It was great to see what this little fantastic boat is made of💪😁👌 more than the skipper, that's for sure🙈🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes, I keep a knife on my person at all times, their is also 1 on the gunnel right next to the shooting area, underneath the emergency stop button, also placed, if the worst should ever happen.
So, as you can see, I have well thought about that exact scenario you're talking about, and I hope to god it never happens, but I'm well prepared if it should 🙈🤞🙏😁👌
Hope you have a wonderful weekend
Stay safe and profitable fishing when you're next out.

Top man. I like the method of creating the harness to spread the towing weight between the two pillars. I should have done that when I towed a boat in earlier this year. Always learning.

    • @onemanandhisboat
      @onemanandhisboat  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi buddy.
The best way to tow, it takes the strain in the centre of the boat, plus take the stot out of the jerking when the casualty boat is running the swell.😁👌

Hope everyone is keeping well pal.

Breasting up, eh. When is the best time to catch lobster? 'cause you put a lot back due to the size. Do you ever come back with all pots filled with the days catch. Like what you see those who catch those giant crabs 🦀

    • @onemanandhisboat
      @onemanandhisboat  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Garry.
      Thank you for your comment.
The best time of the year for us is Xmas due to the high price of lobster.
In the summer months, when there is plenty lobster on the grounds, it's not as fruitful as the prices are rock bottom.
No, they days are long gone now because of overfishing, that's why there are so many small lobsters because the whole fishery is really badly managed, if at all.
I hope that helps answer your questions.
      All the best 😊

Well Barry you've passed the 4k in subscribers this just shows how a popular and decent guy are are and how you present yourself on these blogs! Well done 👍
How many days a week do you pull your fleets and do you have a tank to store your lobsters in? is your farm a working farm or is the Lynsey B your only source od income?
Some nice teeshirts so once they become available i sure will be investing on some merchandise.
A successful and safe rescue well done as that chop on the water could have made it a lot more difficult.
Until the next time take care and stay safe buddy, a true gentleman of the sea

A little inside information, especially for you.
The T-shirts will go live at 5 pm this Wednesday. 🤫🤫🤫
      That's for you only.🙈😂😂😂😁👌
The lynsey B is our only income bud, and it's 7 days a week to build enough money in the good weather, to last when it's not so good in the winter.
We are VERY lucky at Dunbar, as we have a buyer that's there for us, to lift the stuff straight of the boat, and put into his tanks.
Also, he supplies us with bait, and he's always just a phone call away if you need him, so, like I say, VERY lucky indeed. 😍😁👌
Thank you so much for your kind wishes all the very best, sir.

As a commercial fishermen, our lifejackets have to be automatic , and a minimum of 150 newton's.
I prefer the Automatic, as it gives you peace of mind that something will happen if the worst should ever happen.
I hope that answers your question.
      All the best.😊

@@onemanandhisboat Thank you Barry for that comprehensive answer I’ve had a few boats sailing and motorised but I think the way to go now for me is watching someone like you, if you want to really up your viewing figures you should get some bikini clad bird skipping around seems to work for the yachts fraternity but maybe the North Sea is a bit more colder than the Caribbean etc 😂😂😂

We might need to put that in the think tank 🤣🤣🤣
All the best, bud, enjoy the viewing.😉👍
