Heavyocity has a full free line of some of the best kontakt sample libraries. Its called tbe "Foundation series" and has bass, nylon guitar, choir and strings. But theyre all mixed in with some effects. Really great little suite and works with the free kontakt player.

Was waiting for Weaves to mention Analog Obsession. My favourite from AO is Comper, a serial compressor with almost everything you'd want from a compressor.
That thing has FET/VCA/OPTO modes, Dry/Wet knob for parallel compression, external sidechain, LP/HP options and oversampling. Plus it's really light on the CPU. Definitely better than a lot of those paid plugins out there, imo.
Just tried Compet last week and it sounds to me like the perfect electric bass compressor ! VCA first then Opto, taming peaks and bumps in the bass response. Sounds really cool !
Surge XT should be part of the list imo, it has mpe, great sound and is CLAP compatible for voice stacking and all.

I use fresh air all the time, I like to drop it on my master to add a little crispness to my tracks. I use cymatics origin a lot as well.

The Noise Engineering free bundle is great. They're focused on more wild sounds, and the modulation on board is excellent. I often pair them with the kilohearts nonlinear filter. Ruina tends to turn everything into Merzbow, but the synths are awesome.
Ruina is life ! Anything sent through it sounds like it's seen the depths of Hell and came back. Love it.

Kilohertz are sweet for logic users who should have gotten Ableton Suite. The Frequency shifter and Resonator are pretty sweet.
Missing Odin 2, Helm (made by the same guy who made vital), surge xt, synth, dexed, tyrell, the airwindows collection (especially drumslam), some of the other g vst effects, glitch 1. There's an mpc like plugin from this company onesmallclue I can't remember what it is called. Speaking of which, the whole mpc beats software can be opened as a plugin. SlThere's some other stuff I'm forgetting I'm not by my computer right now, but if you switch over to Linux it's almost all free and open sourcem
Critique of critique: 1. Surge is 50,000,000x better than helm, which isn’t really good enough to have a guaranteed spot in a video like this. 2. Surge XT is Surge, if anything, get upset at him for not mentioning Surge FX, which is so ridiculously underrated, especially because it puts all of the Surge implemented Airwindows effects in one place.
@@KnzoVortex oh not upset, he just said to put anything you may have missed lol. And yeah you're right. Surge is way better than helm. Helm to me is just really simple to jump in and start making sounds not knowing much.

once i found that Knock clipper i was amazed on how good it sounds. when im making kick drums from scratch i turn knock all the way up and keep the clip curve all the way down. after that ill run venn audio V-clip and use the variable soft knee setting and adjust the clip curve in there. its nice because i have a visual of the clip curve plus i think it sounds better.

ConvologyXT is pretty goated for the freq dependent decay feature, that thing is so sick and I haven’t really been able to find it in any other plugins.
@@KnzoVortex yeah, and it gives you A LOT of control over the length, size and other aspects of the reverb, specially for being free.
a great plugin I just heard about from a Andrew Huang vid is ( Codec ) its a effect that lets you completely destroy anything you put through it bitrate, frequency, crunch and bandwidth to make any sound feel like its being torn apart
Made by Lese (Much easier to find when you know :D), also, while you're getting that get sweep (which is also free). It's great for adding a bit of movement to the synth sounds you get in those lite version instruments out there.

Bitwig eq+ has both of the things you said... I use the sidechain eq a lot... it's easy to use

The reason you don't see many Kontakt Player libraries out there is because people that want their libraries working with Player have to pay Native Instruments for each download or a symbolic sum which represents it. I would replace the Ample Bass with the free version of MODO Bass 2. While it only gives you one bass model and you only have a maximum of 22 frets available, everything else is unlocked.

one of the other sources of free dsp is stuff i make myself in reaktor, which isn’t free lol. made a really cool tapey delay recently based on a tapeish distortion i made not too long ago, made my own ott thing that’s even more aggressive, etc

Are there any alternatives to fresh air? Even a cheap paid one? I’ve tried to install fresh air at least 5 times and I always hate my life and give up but would love something similar.

Vital is amazing . . . I've been a dedicated user, for free it can't be beat. The only close comparison I know of is Surge XT, another truly amazing free synth engine. In some ways, SXT is in its own category.

I like bx_solo more than wider, produces a cleaner sound at least to my ears when it comes to stereo width
The kilohearts frequency shifter is much better than the stock Ableton one in terms of sound quality. The Ableton one produces high frequency artifacts.

Weaver, what do these companies get from giving away plugins for free? Is brand awareness and positive feeling from potential future customers for payed products?
I think I have tried most of those besides the clipper; but I already have clippers I use to shave my head and dog. If you are going to do a stream, how 'bout you make a beat using some of the plug-ins you've recommended to show how you use/why you like. Or you could make a beat using all the plugs you trash and then blame it on them if the beat sucks.
Audio Acustica has several free offerings that are pretty high quality, and they have demos for all their paid products that last for a month and then you can renew them several times. So, it's like you can try their stuff for at least 90 days w/o paying. Not exactly free, but free to try for a long time. It will cost your CPU, though. Talenti is Italian for "Do you smell that?"
