Based on the test looks like he should probably use the Cobra Aerojet. That thing was consistent af and for whatever reason it was in none of his top 3, that’s wild.
I now have the STEALTH 2 HD in a 3 and 5 wood and a 4 Hybrid and I LOVE them...I am 58 and these make the game easier for me....great video....cheers all from Canada
I think he forgot what category he was picking for. During the pick for Titleist, he claims he didn't like looking at the Aerojet. Looks should've been another category, he botched his choices by adding in looks vs performance.
I tested everything that came out this year and the tsr models. Didn't expect it to take the spot in my bag...but the dispersion you saw from.std aerojet is exactly what I saw the first time I hit it. I demo'd it about 4 times as different 3ws were released earlier this year and every time, every head to head...aerojet. Took aerojet and Stealth2+ on course and aerojet beat it. It's in my bag now. It just goes straight...just like what you saw.
As someone who doesn't play a driver, I'm taking that Cobra every day ending in Y😂. that dispersion is ridiculous for a 3 wood. knock that down to 13°and it's a rocket.
Paid for by the top 3 companies that didn't perform in the Top 3. You know it's a fix when you can see the performance numbers and the #1 performer doesn't make the top 3.
Lol, of course it matters! Accuracy with a fairway wood is at different priorities for different players. It's also worth noting Kevin made his rankings also based on performance in fittings thus far in 2023
Actually added a new FW wood recently, I added a new Mizuno ST-Z 230 5 wood. I like the slightly taller face both out of the rough and off the tee. But it’s not so tall to be a distraction off the fairway. 5 wood is the lowest lofted FW wood I play.
Although not the same comparison, I compared my Rouge ST max 3 wood to TSR2 and 3 and they cant outperform my Rouge. Def. hit it longer with much better dispersion. Ironically, my TSR2 driver outperformed Rouge ST Max driver... just goes to show you have to compare all models and not stick to one brand for your bag. I have 2021 T100s' irons, Cobra Speedzone hybrids and recently went to TM MG3 wedges 52 and 56 TW grind.
Great point about being brand agnostic!! It's so true. Just because a certain driver model works for you doesn't mean that the fairway wood will be the best!
I noticed its the popular brands you continually test, what about others Tour Edge or Wilson, if they did not make the cut which is ok, can you explain why. It only helps us the buyer.
Thanks for watching! It's a combination of what performs the best in the fitting bays and what is asked for the most by golfers in fittings. Ultimately we had Kevin choose which clubs he believes "deserve" to be in the tests -- this is the case with all of the Best of 2023 videos.
Shouldn’t 3 wood be more about gapping and consistency? Where is the rating for that?. I had to get rid of a 3 wood because it went to close to my Driver in distance, I know some people might be looking for a driver back up/replacement, but most aren’t.
You make a great point! In your case, you might either need a driver with lower loft or you might want to replace the 3 wood with the 5 wood. But you're right -- if your 3-wood doesn't gap adequately in the bag, then it won't work!
Thanks for watching! Kevin selected the top 5 for the test based on both demand from golfers and performance in fittings. Unfortunately we did not add Srixon in this one
The Stealth 2 Plus has the adjustable weight on the sole ... and it's 50 grams, which is a lot! It can totally change the purpose of the club. Here is our initial review: th-cam.com/video/vEoFPsklVCw/w-d-xo.html
Sometimes I wonder why these are referred to as "Fairway Woods". I would call them 3-woods, especially as these are all 15*. Many people have difficulty hitting a 15* 3-wood off the grass and use it almost exclusively off the tee. So I would think that a "Fairway Wood", aimed at use off the grass, would be something with a little more loft than 15* (not a 3-wood). Granted that most 3-woods have adjustable hosels that you can adjust for more loft - but you can only make that adjustment BEFORE the round to comply with rules. Most people likely better off with a 5-wood.
I generally have between 100-105 chs with driver. I found my optimal setup is the TM Ti 5w as it spins SO LOW and launches SO HIGH that I can roll out to 245 along with a Ping 7w that I can hit 225 all the way down to 190 with a spinny cut. 3w has never worked for my game.
Its just a distinction from a driver. Also "fairway woods" is the whole category from 3 wood down to 7, 9, 11 wood, whatever you want, and those are definitely used off the fairway. Amateur golfers with issues hitting a 3 wood off the turf simply should use a 3 wood off the turf, move to something like a 5 wood and tune down the loft, or maybe a 7 wood, the higher lofted fairways are much much easier to hit off the turf than your standard 15 degree 3 wood.
Fairway woods of different lofts are similar to wedges of different lofts in that they can serve slightly different purposes. A 3 wood is used typically for maximum total distance for second shot on par 5 holes and where carry is not as important, while a 7 wood needs to carry a green and hold the green and therefore spin and descent angle is important. For wedges, PW and GW are generally full shot clubs, while LW is more for short pitches and chips over greenside hazards.
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately we do not have PXG in our fitting bays since they are a direct-to-consumer brand, so we are not able to compare their new items in tests.
Cobra all the way performance wise. The others were all over the place! Having a fairway wood in the bag you can count on is huge. Not picking it because of the look is just silly imo...
You’re so off 😂 they said at the beginning that they tried to keep it to standard shafts and get them similar. Anyways, the Ventus TR Red 6S non Velocore isn’t a 60 gram shaft. People get that wrong so often. Its 67 grams uncut just like the other shafts are 70 grams uncut. If you really think 3 grams on shaft labels on non premium shafts that probably haven’t been checked for consistency is the difference in this test you’re dead wrong 😂. It’s not even that relevant as it was pretty middle of the road for swing speed compared to the “heavier” shafts. The difference clearly was smash factor. He hit it in a better spot on the face because the shaft timing, head shape, and swing weight matched his swing better than the other set ups. Im not even a fan of TaylorMade but im a fan of getting facts straight 🙂
Thanks for watching! As we noted at the beginning, we got as close as we could with the fitting components we had available at the time. We found the closest profile we could to the other shafts. So you're right in the sense that it's not a true 100% head to head comparison. Our apologies!
Testers comments make no sense as Cobra had the 2nd lowest spin out of all of these and 3rd longest. Just say you don’t like it and that’s ok, but the stats don’t match your comments.
Based on the test looks like he should probably use the Cobra Aerojet. That thing was consistent af and for whatever reason it was in none of his top 3, that’s wild.
Yeah, that was weird.
Because Cobra is not as sexy of a company as Callaway, Taylormade, Titleist or even Ping
How about a Mid Handicapper for said tests also 5 and 7 woods. Please.
I agree, that’s exactly what I wish they’d show as well.
I love my Stealth 2, Like butter when you pure it.
I now have the STEALTH 2 HD in a 3 and 5 wood and a 4 Hybrid and I LOVE them...I am 58 and these make the game easier for me....great video....cheers all from Canada
Thanks for watching!!
How do you not pick the Cobra based upon dispersion and within 1-3 years of Callaway/ T.M.?
I think he forgot what category he was picking for. During the pick for Titleist, he claims he didn't like looking at the Aerojet. Looks should've been another category, he botched his choices by adding in looks vs performance.

Love that! Good feedback..Aerojet has definitely been a winner in a lot of fittings
I'm still using my Cobra F8 3 wood 😂.
I'd love to see how much extra distance is between the 2.
i don't use a driver.
@@kevinconnolly754 go hit them head to head...

Looking for fairway wood. Great test.
So accuracy doesn't matter then? Hmm... weird since golf is all about accuracy in the end.
Lol, of course it matters! Accuracy with a fairway wood is at different priorities for different players. It's also worth noting Kevin made his rankings also based on performance in fittings thus far in 2023
Plus sometimes off of a trackman it might be pointed in a different direction so it will go a certain way
Actually added a new FW wood recently, I added a new Mizuno ST-Z 230 5 wood. I like the slightly taller face both out of the rough and off the tee. But it’s not so tall to be a distraction off the fairway. 5 wood is the lowest lofted FW wood I play.
Great stuff Bill -- and your tactic of 5-wood as the highest lofted wood you'll play is something many other golfers should follow
Although not the same comparison, I compared my Rouge ST max 3 wood to TSR2 and 3 and they cant outperform my Rouge. Def. hit it longer with much better dispersion. Soooo overall winner? Was it Taylormade Stealth 2 or not?

"looking for a driver replacement and lower spin" the cobra had lower spin than all 3 other picks
No Srixon ZX Mkii FW?
Thanks for watching! Kevin selected the top 5 for the test based on both demand from golfers and performance in fittings. Unfortunately we did not add Srixon in this one
I would pick the new srixon
I wanted to hear what he thought of the adjustable weight on the Taylormade, I thought last was an interesting feature
The Stealth 2 Plus has the adjustable weight on the sole ... and it's 50 grams, which is a lot! It can totally change the purpose of the club. Here is our initial review: th-cam.com/video/vEoFPsklVCw/w-d-xo.html
Where did Thomas go?
I think he stated he own thing
Swing Lab Performance Golf
I was a little bit surprised cleveland wasn't in the mix, i think they really came alive with their new woods

Good review! A bit incomplete research! Would like to see how PXG Gen6 does in Mr. Kraft’s hands. Too bad.
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately we do not have PXG in our fitting bays since they are a direct-to-consumer brand, so we are not able to compare their new items in tests.

He missed the green with all except Aerojet.
Wilson Staff is the best one.
Was loving the video until he said the stealth had a 60 gram shaft 🤦🏻♂️…. They all need same if not similar shaft to do a head comparison

Makes no sense, all distances where very close but the dispersion with the Cobra was so tight!! How is it not the top performing??
Aero jet had by far tightest dispersion. Credibilty of test less than zero!
How do you hit so far?lol
Testers comments make no sense as Cobra had the 2nd lowest spin out of all of these and 3rd longest. Just say you don’t like it and that’s ok, but the stats don’t match your comments.
That guy seems a bit obsessed with himself.
LOL. Kevin is the best!
