Went for a fairway wood fitting. Launch a major issue for me. It looked like the Stealth 2 was going to be a winner but the fitter had one more trick up his sleeve.....a TSR1 with a +6 gram weight in the head for the heavier swing weight!! It worked an absolute peach and thats what I walked away with!! Never would've looked at TSR1 as an option so just goes to show that you should always get fitted!!

I'm one of those guys who see's a lot of myself in Mike's game. For me a 3 wood has ONLY one purpose- max distance off the deck. I play a lot of courses where par 5's take everything I have in my bag to get there in two (and often that's not enough). I also play a 5 wood, so if I'm thinking "safe" or "accuracy" I don't pull the 3w I pull the 5w. I don't hit the 3w off the tee because there's not enough accuracy gained to sacrifice the distance. I know a lot of people think how a club "comes into the green" but sometimes the need calls for distance moreso than stopping power.

Stealth numbers are great BUT no adjustable hosel means it needs to be dialed in as stock set up - hard to argue that TSR2 or G430 doesn't get the nudge since they have great sleeves and are a bit more versatile. Srixon & Mizuno would be less ideal for guys who draw the ball, it's already low spin and ol' Mikey plays that cut shape. I have Titleist woods in the bag and really am pleased - If I wanted to switch, I would be going G430.

The data analysts always talk about statistically you are just as likely to hit the fairway with a driver as a three wood. Forgetting the fact that I would like to know why that may be- I think you should do a controlled individual test with say OOB on the right and heavy rough on the left and see how the strokes gained stacks up as it is the awful shots (OOB and lost balls etc). that have most to do with us mortal golfers. I also think that too much emphasis is placed on the fairway finder is a three wood- I would test to see what is the optimum club to use for an individual where there is a very high probability of success.

I hate when higher launch fairway woods are referred to as for the high handicap. See brooks koepka. Also I’m scratch, swing a 3 wood at 105, but can never seem to find one I love. I was fit by club champion and was dialed into a Callaway epic flash with Oban devotion 7 in stiff. I’ve always been good off a tee with it 275-285. But I always want something to carry 255-265 off the deck and it’s always been a crap shoot. My 3 hybrid at 19.5 flat goes 230 carry and anything less than absolutely perfect from a 3w goes about the same. So I’m starting to just hit a good hybrid instead of a shit 3w. Wondering if maybe the new cobra HL 3 wood would be great. I’m looking for something around 16-16.5 degree and maybe a high launch mid spin shaft. Idk. Always searching. But lay off us who can actually play and score well who might need a high launching mid spin 3 wood. Even looking at a 5w and turn it down to 16/16.5 in order to promote less draw

I can't believe that this launch monitor isn't set to correct Mikey's swing. At the 7 minute mark, with an out to in path, and an open face, center strike, .5 degrees downwards angle of attack and this ball is going straight with a tiny draw, no way. 9:03 neutral path, .9 degree open face, center strike, flight is a pull draw. A lot of his swings are producing results that just don't add up. Am I missing something? Does the D plane have that much effect with a three wood?
