Now to go find a wine barrel, and see what other things I could do with it. You touch on my two primary interests; flying and woodworking! What fun. Introduce your helper next time.
This incredible rendition completely eliminates all my terminal complaints about Adirondack chairs. That is, that they are so oddly and irritatingly angular. The insightful use of the wine barrel staves give the chair the much needed concavity and curvature that the chair has always lacked and quietly demanded. This is essential, ergonomic, and elegant. Well done!
Absolutely great, truly! My goodness, if you would lived 70 or 80 years ago, building these chairs, you would be as famous as Mies Van der Rohe, Frank Lloyd, or Charles Eames, just to name a few. You definitely build a chair of the level of the Bauhaus. Congratulations. I’ll be on the look out for those kinds of barrels and I’m sure they are not cheap. Cheers!
Genius! Super work👍✌️💜 My dad is very skilled with woodworking, whereas I appreciate it from afar and try to avoid working it at all costs, for its sake and mine😲😄👍✌️💜
Thanks for the video, well done, love the details. With the arms being the widest staves what would be an acceptable minimum width? I only ask because the current barrels I have the only widest matching staves are just 4" wide. Would that be too narrow?
Wine areas, Whiskey areas all have old barrels. They are only good for a few years They sell them off as planters and to craft people for $50 or so when they have finished with them. Look online.
You just hold the piece to be cut up to where it is going to go and estimate it. Thick wood glue and the screws hold it there while it dries. There is no science with angles when cutting curved wood to meet curved wood. Guess it. Good luck.
Hi mark greetings from another Brit soon to be joining you in your area as I'm moving close by in November & once settled in will be getting on with my ppl. Is there a local flying school in the area ? Cheers love the videos great work
Thank you so much for creating this video!

Yes, thanks for that. Most appreciated 👍🏼
Glad it helped
Great build.
Very creative!
Thank you! Cheers!
I guess the fun part is emptying the wine barrels, cheers!

This is probably the most eloquent comment I have had on this channel. Thank you.
I wonder how an Adirondack adapted to rocking chair would work out. Only half serious, but perhaps taking a bit of liberty with the Adirondack design?
You know, you are right, another long stave with it's curved side down would make it a great rocker.
Amazing! Thanks for the insight.
Glad it was helpful!

Thank you. The empty barrels are about $50 or $60 each. A Whiskey barrel would be cool.
@@skywagonuniversity5023 wow, I was expecting way higher than that . Thank you !
The man of all trades😬 something different.
Very nice
Who would have thought! I wonder, do those barrels still smell like wine?
When you cut them, the dust has a wine small.
Wow, thats great, love your airplane vids, and never would have expected this, as others said you really are a man of many talents
Thanks. Did you see the gunstock making video. It's our best video by 3X views.
I learned so much, cool project
Hot chair model!
Yes.
You sir, are the world's most interesting man!
Thank you. I do not normally make chairs, but when I do, they are Adirondacks. ;-)
This is the Internet, Mark. Show us what you can make out of a pallet. 😂
I loved this!
It is fun to do when it is a bit cooler. That day was 90 plus
Genius! Super work👍✌️💜 My dad is very skilled with woodworking, whereas I appreciate it from afar and try to avoid working it at all costs, for its sake and mine😲😄👍✌️💜
Thank you very much!
👍
Now we are wanting to know how you make the table out of the rest of the barrel?
Yes, we will do it.
Thanks for the video, well done, love the details. With the arms being the widest staves what would be an acceptable minimum width? I only ask because the current barrels I have the only widest matching staves are just 4" wide. Would that be too narrow?
Four inches is fine for arms and legs.
now my only question is, where the heck could I find such barrel.
Wine areas, Whiskey areas all have old barrels. They are only good for a few years They sell them off as planters and to craft people for $50 or so when they have finished with them. Look online.
i assume that hole in the backrest is for the lycoming upgrade. i'm sure that the 'barrel mark one' will outperform the zapata jetracer
The exhaust port
What are the angles of the cuts you made?

Needs a matching foot rest
I used to make chairs out of pallets, wine barrels are much cooler
It'd be nice to have a straight edge every now and then.
Nice job. - & if you think the seat's nice & roomy, wait 'til you see the wickerwork fuselage! : )
Can't wait!
From 3:18 to :3:28 what’s the measurement from them ground to the top other cross member ?
??
Will there be a second video where you test sit it? Perhaps sip and do some serious BSing...... :^D
It's had a road test, I sipped wine in it and it worked fine. ;-)
Please wear hearing protection 🤕
It was just a few small battery saw cuts.
