Great job well done. Good of you to show the little mistake and be honest. It happens along the way sometimes but being able to remedy the problem is the cleaver bit. Top job. All the best Brett.
I usually do, but because I was planing it down again anyway, I just skip using tape. I probably should every time to save my clamps but I am notoriously bad at taking my own advice.
Jack, great video, and thanks for sharing. I'd love to do this one day. Being a disabled vet, my income is limited, but I'm going to find some decent used equipment over time, planer, router, table saw and such. The cutting board came out beautiful, Navy Mark...
Very well done! Wanted to share, for the circular jig, if you use a cheap Amazon microphone boom arm and a mic clip, you can clip it to your bench top and and run the power cable through it. Because it’s a boom stand it just stays in what ever position you leave it in and moves with you while giving you the height clearance. Also works well if you hook on a light so you can move the light at different angles above the bench without getting in the way. Mine cost $15 on Amazon, hopefully that can help in the future. All the best and keep it up!👍🏼
Hahaha, that is an excellent tip, thank you very much. I had been wrestling with that cord every turn. Figured somebody must have had a better way to deal with it. Cheers 🍻
That board is awesome, but I just can’t stand the thought of putting a hole in it for the circle cutting jig. Did you just fill it with some brown CA glue?
I didn’t show in the video but I actually took it back to flatten it again and took off an 1/8” or so, so I didn’t end up needing to fill the indent. I totally agree with you however, it would have driven me nuts if I had to fill it with CA glue.
Agreed, this was definitely a one off project that was meant for show more than anything else. That’s also why I chose to do end grain, to give the white oak a fighting chance.
Beautiful job! I made speakers out of barrel staves and its so true about the smell!

Much appreciated, always hope for those 30 minute mistakes.
Very nice, great job. Dont worry about the mistakes, it’s how we learn.
That took the rustic weathering look of the staves away.
Use packing tape on your cauls. The glue will not stick to them if you do.

Thanks Mark! Best of luck to you sir!
Work of art. You are very talented. 🎉
Another cool project very well done. Your time and effort paid off in the results. Sanding.... fun times, eh?
Especially white oak and end grain… good lord I could physically feel time pass. Thanks for the kind words!

Very nice!
Holy glue Batman
*Applies $10 in glue to squeeze out $8* haha

Nicely done, although oak is generally not the best choice for cutting boards. With light use it should last a long time.

I clicked on this add just to comment on the thumbnail. It looks like you turned the golden retriever into the barrel 😂
That’s in the next video lol
You definitely don't need to worry about glue starvation on those joints. 😂
Haha, when I did this before and I was stingy with the glue on my first attempt, and had some voids. I was not making that mistake again.
Bruh i thought you turned the dog into a table
Hahaha, that’s the next one lol
