Hello Ken...I'm a woodworker and a model railroader and we love your channel.Dont worry what trolls say to you as long as your having fun!! Your doing a great job!!
The chair looks supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!!! I'm going to love the Adirondack furniture series! The red cedar looks great! Kaiya is so busy, busy, busy! No wonder she jumps into her little bed when she comes in after working at the shop with you! 😅 Chad's a great teacher! Love the circle demonstration! And yes! You need to have Dan over for crumpets and tea!!!
Hello Ken. Chair came out great. You certainly are not a butcher. Some people just like too live a miserable life. I'm looking forward to seeing what the next build is.
I have been building Adirondack chairs for many years. Initially I used those 5/4 Cedar deck boards but I found them to be too heavy and too expensive, so I switched to 4/4 pine boards. Pine boards were mostly used in the original Adirondack chairs where most were painted. Since I moved to Colorado I have discovered the beautiful blue stain Beetle Kill pine which I use exclusively now. I finish the chairs with a cocktail consisting of equal parts Boiled Linseed Oil, Mineral Spirits and oil based Polyurethane. Thanks for sharing this build with us.
Who was bashing on you about the checker board?? Not cool and definitely uncalled for!! I thought that checker board was BEAUTIFUL. And this Adirondack chair is yet another fine example of your talents, Ken. Ignore the nay-sayers. God bless you, sir!
I think you are doing a great job on all of our projects and building the garages that you have built for the person that called you a butcher I think you do a great job and may God bless you and your family😊😊
Ken: I love your adaptation of the Adirondack Chair Bar Stool. Having made twelve regular Adirondack chairs for family and friends over the years, using Norm Abram's "New Yankee Workshop" plans, I have only one minor suggestion for greater arm support. Add a small cedar right angle bracket under the front of each armrest attached to the outside of each front leg to give greater support to the front of each armrest. This will avoid possible splitting over time. I would also suggest using stainless steel screws throughout.
You will have to add a table at some point, so you can challenge another person, to a game of chess, while enjoying a cold brew, in the chairs. Love watching you work, dance, and sing, too!
That's a great looking chair, and it looks like a straightforward project that's easy enough, since my time is limited. I don't have the jig, but I can see using it on several projects. Great stuff, Ken! 😁
Hi Ken, I’ve watched your garage videos since the beginning, nice to see your branching out. I built outdoor furniture for 25 years or so, never used my pocket hole jig, interesting!! Always used Norm Abrams plans, keep up the good work
Who ever made the comment about the checkerboard, you did not make it for them anyway! I have been doing woodworking for 50+ years. I used to play billiards a lot. I decided to make a cue stick case from a single oak 2 X 4 . I carefully cut the 2 X 4 apart and removed the inside. I lined the cavity with felt. Made a top that had a wood spring latch that snapped into place. I had fun making it. I did not pattern it off anything I had ever seen. When I walked into a pool hall it looked like I had an oak 2 X 4 in my hand. Needless to say no one wanted to argue with me. It protected my cue stick, it was one of a kind, it made a statement. Later I engraved my name in the side. By some people standards it was crude, but I liked it. When I pickup a piece of wood I see a finished project and/or idea. Keep "Creating things".
Yum, western white cedar for the build! I'm sorry anyone would call you a "butcher!" I thought you did a beautiful job on the chessboard! I love that roll away planer! Kia looks so happy playing with her toy! No chicken sounds. Dancing the night away! Pocket hole jig for the cross pieces. That does look like a nice day Ken. I like the spacer idea and the longer screws should hold it together better. I like how you put the bottom board at an angle to hold the upright slats for the back of the chair. I loved how you used Chad's trick for drawing the arc. Nice back supports! I like the way you did the seat for the chair. That looks beautiful Ken! You should be on the beach! Nice front seat piece and the arm rests are beautiful! I like the way you rounded those arm rests. I think you did great with the 5 degree angle for the seat and 15 degree angle for the back. I love your design. Thanks for this video Ken!
Awesome build Ken!! Would make a good diy kit for purchase if you mass produce the pieces. I see you’ve got your E-bike stable ready to start giving tours on the Kenstead😁😁
Enjoy your videos have you ever built a cedar chest when I was a kid I use to watch a man build cedar chest the wood smells so good I never new they had that cedar in 2x4 great chair keep up the great videos
Once again wonderful job.! Chair looks great. I say shine on the naysayers, I thought the chessboard ♟️looked great! Side note I suggest you offer plans for your projects and for chairs for those of us that have beefier halves a way to beef 🥩 it up. Just a thought. I’d throw in some for plans to some of your projects.
Good morning Ken from California watching your video with my fiance and had a few thoughts from reading your comments few of them agree with each other The gentleman from Australia mentioned that you should do tongue and groove thingies but I'm thinking maybe biscuit joints and the other thing is I once learned from my old boss that you should hide the pocket screws on the bottom not the sides so you can't see them but chair looks good and I like the idea of using the clamp to make the arch on the top. that was a good tip
Nice chair idea. How about on the next one, you build a cup holder in both harms for the left or right people. One could also router or smooth out any rough angles.
For what it’s worth I thought you did a great job with the Chessboard. BTW I’ve moved from watching you during breakfast to my lunchtime break now so keep the videos coming. 😀
@@kenskarpentry I made a similar mistake a couple of years ago renovating some old school stools. Experience is a hard earned trophy that we all can share.

Nice job, Ken! Looks awesome. 👌 You're an excellent butcher...I mean furniture maker! 🤣 Seriously, I love the design and would like to make one for myself.
I might have mentioned this before, but mounting that pocket tool on a piece of plywood would allow you to clamp it to the bench or put a foot on it at floor level.
Nice looking chair never seen what that tall, but it would be perfect for a tall person like me. The low chairs are so hard to get out of with bad knees.
My reply to whoever called you a butcher only requires one finger, and they’re NOT #1! Haters suck. I really liked it! I’m not usually a fan of that style of chair, but this really looks nice. I would recommend a good polyurethane finish to protect the wood.
Hey Ken maybe a cut list would be nice if you could provide that sometimes on these projects. Like the trick for marking the arc with the clamp for the back rest. Great idea and timesaver. Like it was my own idea! Thanks for the video but really dislike the Ebike crap. TOO MANY BATTERIES CAN'T BE GOOD FOR THE ENVIROMENT PEOPLE PUT YOUR THINKING CAP ON PLEASE.
The chair looks nice Ken. Where is the glue ! ! ? Has a heavier guy than Dan, I am concerned for the connections of your stretchers. Single screw without glue in softwood over time, and shifting weight of heavy guys like me, I'm a little concerned. Having reglued spindle chairs many times, I have seen everything loosen up. Gday Ken I built directors chairs, bar chairs deck chairs etc for 15 years the Kreg fastening system won’t hold up to the demands people put on chairs. Not dissing you just an observation. Full tenons with locking pins drilled through the tenon was about the only thing that could take a 250lb ass wriggling and tilting the chair back and forth.
