That clicking sound accounts for a good number of the comments on this video; I believe it is a lightweight version of the original Hasler train recording device made especially for diesel multiple units such as the one this video was filmed from.
Nice, but they probably need to get busy with the glyphosate at many locations. It cant be good to have so many large weeds growing out from under the rails. Hopefully it's not Japanese Knot Weed. Tangentially, I find Japanese rail journeys around the web well worth a watch. Great stuff, and I'm not even a trainspotter.
It must hard to keep such a long heritage railway in tip top condition, it is good that it has been taken over by a rail enthusiast group, the weeds are just another challenge they have to overcome to keep trains running. I agree that there are some excellent Japanese railway videos on TH-cam.

Wow, this train is using a speed recording device older than a Hasler speedometer.
What is that constant clicking sound?
I looked on the internet for an answer, the noise apears to be made by a device that records the actions of the driver. Please click on the link, although in French there is a tab you can click on for an English translation - fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flaman

@@tomegg Thank you for the link, I have heard the same sound on both Swiss and Austrian heritage trains, but I didn't really know what made the noise.
Hi Tim,it is present in main line locos in Switzerland.Did ask Lorirocks777 ,he is a train driver and does quality videos like yourself.
He did tell me why but cant recall.
Lovely part of France,Thanks for the great filming,Have a good new year.🤙.
@@jerrydowse5061 Hi Jerry, I've also heard the clicking noise in older Swiss heritage locomotives and railcars. I also enjoy the videos lorirocks777 posts to TH-cam. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and best wishes for 2023 🙂🥂🍻.

They could be doing a better job at keeping “rail-bed” off vegetation.
This is a long railway line, managed by a small group of volunteers on a limited budget. They are doing their very best and I'm sure they'd welcome new members to help their existing volunteer team in running and maintaining the railway.
Doesn't that clicking sound drive you nuts ?
It is a bit annoying, I guess the best thing is to turn the sound down, although the driver doesn't have that option.
What ticking sound?
@@tawharanui5011 Hi, a number of people have asked what the clicking sound is. I looked on the internet and this is the best answer I could find. Please click on the link, an English translation is available by clicking on the "English Translation" tab - fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flaman
@@Timsvideochannel1 I think you may be right. The ticking of the constant speed paper spool. I did turn down the sound eventually and put on some good music. And enjoyed it while jotting down idea's for a project me and my son are working on together. Great scenery on this one.
@@wishusknight3009 Hi, I'm intrigued to know more about your project, is it a model railway? in which case Part 3, due out at the end of the month could be just what you looking for, stunning mountain scenery and pretty French towns. That clicking sound has been responsible for a good number of comments on this video, mostly asking about the source of the noise.

Thank you very much!
I am sorry but I found this a rather dull and untidy train ride.
Oh dear, that's a shame, the scenery gets interesting in Part 3, available towards the end of this month 🙁.

Hello Steven, I'm sorry to hear you are suffering from insomnia, I hope this video helped you get to sleep, I'm about to publish Part 3 in which the scenery becomes far more dramatic.
Thanks Tim
You are welcome, I hope you enjoyed the ride.
Actually the French countryside surprised me a bit ! cheers . 🥸🥸
Hopefully it was a pleasant surprise, the scenery gets more dramatic as the journey continues in Parts 2 and 3 available in the next few weeks 😊.
