Yeah, I usually divide them up into two groups: one attacks the front, the other attacks the side. Of course using this AOE strategy. Its really effective.
It would appear that Westwood recycled the sonic weapon from the Atreides Sonic Tank from the Dune RTS games, which also has such an advantage of penetrating targets. In addition, since it is on land, the Sonic Tank can also fire through walls (which the Disruptor could do as well in Tib Sun if I recall correctly).
About the Aegis cruiser's attack more effective when you manually set to attack, you can do this automatically if micro managing is to tedious. Set it to "patrol mode" by using the way point mode, then make a polygon like a triangle in an area you want to patrol and done. This is my best defence against a Kirov when I'm busy in another part of the map.
If you have a damage unit setting on a damaged building with walkthrough cells (ie War Factory, Refinery, etc.) You can heal the building using a Repair IFV by repairing the unit.

They use the same Sonic Pulse weapon like Dolphins and it's sprites were taken from Tiberian Sun unfortunately they can't shoot missiles. Can be detected by a Mobile Stealth Jammer, Destroyers, and Subs. Sadly the source for Triple Power Mod is long gone.

Re: Aegis Cruiser attack speed It's not so much so you manually have to order it to attack but more on how Aegis' targetting works, in an auto-attack only missiles that will go to quickest to the target will fire. When ordered, the targetting priorities of the other missiles change to target directly ordered. An Aegis can shoot to its fastest if the ship rotates perpendicularly towards the target as it's shooting. Basically clearing as many of the targetting calculations for the weapon.
