Bro watch the full video, she goes on a rant about how they don't factor in EQ (they're literally ranking IQ 🤣). Which for anybody that doesn't know, is basically how empathetic you are. Literally nothing to do with intelligence lol.
To be fair her IQ is still 112 according to this video, which is still firmly above average. And if they asked everybody the same questions I doubt any of the others said they were the dumbest, so this result was inevitably going to happen to someone. This result honestly doesn’t speak negatively about her character or intelligence IMHO.
The little dance she did while listing her accomplishments gave me second hand embarrassment.

It's fake. Based on the way he acts, anyone would've drawn the same conclusion about him, which the rest of them actually do. What should've tipped them off that the "experiment" was designed to be an upset was when he mentioned having an ASVAB score of 94, meaning he's like Matt Damon in Goodwill Hunting. He's a statistical anomaly. In other words it was set up from the start to embarrass the college graduate participants, and Maria's so-so IQ just happened to play into that. Also, she never actually implies that he's dumb, only arrogant.

That's right. I have a PhD in Geophysics and taught at a major university for 30 years. I have met many people much more intelligent than me, including some of my students, who have little formal education.
I have some Russian friends, they don't hire college educated. One of them told me that their work is mediocre compared to the ones that don't have formal education. Work is in IT.

IQ and knowledge aren't the same thing, though they can be somewhat related (people with higher IQ tend to have an easier time learning new things).

I run into this all the time.
I have no college degree and a great many people I'vemet that do see me as an idiot. I've never formally enrolled at any college but, have credits toward one of the top tech colleges in the world and finished high school with two vocational degrees and two government licenses. I had a SAT score over 2250 in 1999 without prep and an ASVAB score of 99 in 2001. I'm in my early 40s, used to do and train people in SAR, got most of the way through training as an EMT on top of SAR first response before moving on, have over a decade of experience working on aircraft, even helping with military R&D a little while I was enlisted and over two decades of experience in independent graphic design, even doing work for companies like Burton snowboards.
I currently work with robots, advanced materials and interesting chemicals. I also occasionally get contacted through certain channels for history info that isn't in some books.
Talking to me, a lot of people assume I'm not that bright because my attention is all over the place, where they tend to fixate on a few things to the point that they miss key details and make many assumptions.
Funniest part to me saying all this? I regularly think I'm not as smart as what people think IQ scores indicate because I've met true geniuses.😂
Want another fun item that makes some see me as less intelligent? I look forward to potentially becoming a long haul haz truck driver in the next few years, using the hazmat certs I currently have because of how much they get paid, I want a big rig of my own and I love to travel.😊

Iq and eq actually have a negative correlation if I remember correctly (I may be wrong my memory isn't perfect I read it in some study a while ago so forgive me if I'm wrong)
EQ measures emotional intelligence. Those with a high EQ tend to be more successful at life and work.

@@101perspective I saw this whole clip awhile ago, but in that, they give a brief summary about themselves. She rated that guy at the bottom solely because he was in the military. She went on a huge demeaning rant about how she doesn't believe anyone in the military is intelligent, and how she is so great. So when it's revealed he has a much higher IQ than her AND is last, it's extremely satisfying. It wasn't just based on looks, it went deeper, but I understand why you would think that given just the short clip.

There's a good explanation of PHDs. It's basically a trade off. You become incredibly knowledgeable about one particular area in a field, and generally are completely useless in terms of knowledge outside of that field.
A smart person would also NEVER correlate “EQ” - which would be emotional quotient I suppose which doesn’t even make sense but I’m assuming she means emotional intelligence - and IQ because frankly folks with particularly high IQ often have more trouble relating to other people emotionally and more often find themselves somewhere on the spectrum

I studied for my postgraduate degree only focusing on the x band frequency, which is 8-12 GHz, out of the entire electromagnetic spectrum. So if you ask me about anything else, I need to do more reading and research. I don’t know why people think that having a PhD means that a person knows everything. The more I read, the more I realise how little I know.

The funny thing about this is that when they asked what is IQ he explained it simply and perfectly that its a problem solving ability. God my best friend had a boyfriend who was always just such a know-it-all. Every time he tried to stump me with some question or piece of information and I got the answer right or showed that I knew more than him in some capacity, he would act so surprised. Not really, she proved how worthless IQ is a value of scoring intelligence. Works in one of the most mentally demanding fields, with cutting edge science and technology, she's obviously very intelligent, her IQ being lower just means it was harder for her to get to where she is than it would be for the others in the group, since IQ is essentially how quickly you pick up and retain information compared to your peers. So if she did all that with the lowest IQ in the group, than she's insanely dedicated and hardworking, and as a former Army Infantrymen, I'll take less intelligent person who will kill themselves to get what they want, than a highly intelligent person, who isn't accustom to doing the work.

Gotta say college is good for some and a trap for others. I went to college knowing I was going for an electrical engineering degree and that I was not going to be able to easily breeze by. I worked my butt off and got out in 4 years with a useful degree and job, but I know that most people who came in with me left with nothing but debt and a useless degree they don’t use. An actual stat from my college is that 75% of people who put down that they were gonna be an electrical engineer coming into college drop out into another major or out of college by the end of the 2nd year. It is slightly lower for general engineering but that is still crazy high.

I literally was in the bottom 50% of my Bachelors of Psychology because my assignments and presentations didn't follow the same generic template as the rest of my cohort. Everytime we did presentations you could literally get the first person to do theirs and then give that same mark to everyone else in that room except me. It's weird when you're studying the way the human brain process and expresses itself but are forced to think along the same linear path. There was a minority of us that just refused to follow the same template every time.
Undergraduate degrees are literally just money-makers for the university, they don't actually care if you're getting educated or not.

I distinctly remember studying and reflecting on the fact that I could choose to spend my time actually learning the material or preparing to perform for my grade. I knew they were 2 different things at that time.
Further education, at least in my country, supports and encourages self directed studies and critical thinking. The latter stages of a degree is guided by tutors but most students are responsible for their own syllabus. When doing a PHD you're doing it all yourself to professional standards.
