I mean, Ted, the thing is that to come illegally is not the same as to seek asylum. Seeking asylum is legal and the "legal" system of coming into this country without seeking asylum is hellish. Takes too long, that can be dangerous for people in need, and to say its irresponsible for parents to take their kids AWAY from danger is complete nonsense. Are you gonna jump out a burning tree and then deal with firefighters not liking that or are you gonna wait for permission? Because that is the argument you are raising

And did you see @2:14 how swiftly & immediately Nugent sidestepped into an unrelated talking point when Joe brought up the logical cause and effect relationship that the criminalization of drugs has had in terms of empowering the cartels of Central America, which in turn has served as a catalyst for the displacement of people fleeing to the U.S. for survival, and how legalizing drugs would logically alleviate the situation?

An excerpt from 1977 High Times article about how Nugent dogged the draft"
"Ted was a young boy, appearing to be a hippie but quite opposite in fact, working hard and playing hard, playing rock and roll like a deviant. People would question my sanity, I played so much. So I got my notice to be in the draft. Do you think I was gonna lay down my guitar and go play army? Give me a break! I was busy doin’ it to it. I had a career Jack. If I was walkin’ around, hippying down, getting’ loaded and pickin’ my ass like your common curs, I’d say “Hey yeah, go in the army. Beats the poop out of scuffin’ around in the gutters.” But I wasn’t a gutter dog. I was a hard workin’, motherfuckin’ rock and roll musician.
I got my physical notice 30 days prior to. Well, on that day I ceased cleansing my body. No more brushing my teeth, no more washing my hair, no baths, no soap, no water. Thirty days of debris build. I stopped shavin’ and I was 18, had a little scraggly beard, really looked like a hippie. I had long hair, and it started gettin’ kinky, matted up. Then two weeks before, I stopped eating any food with nutritional value. I just had chips, Pepsi, beer-stuff I never touched-buttered poop, little jars of Polish sausages, and I’d drink the syrup, I was this side of death, Then a week before, I stopped going to the bathroom. I did it in my pants. poop, piss the whole shot. My pants got crusted up.
See, I approached the whole thing like, Ted Nugent, cool hard-workin’ dude, is gonna wreak havoc on these imbeciles in the armed forces. I’m gonna play their own game, and I’m gonna destroy ‘em. Now my whole body is crusted in poop and piss. I was ill. And three or four days before, I started stayin’ awake. I was close to death, but I was in control. I was extremely antidrug as I’ve always been, but I snorted some crystal methedrine. Talk about one wounded motherfucker. A guy put up four lines, and it was for all four of us, but I didn’t know and I’m vacuuming that poop right up. I was a walking, talking hunk of human poop. I was six-foot-three of sin. So the guys took me down to the physical, and my nerves, my emotions were distraught. I was not a good person. I was wounded. But as painful and nauseous as it was - ‘cause I was really into bein’ clean and on the ball - I made gutter swine hippies look like football players. I was deviano.
So I went in, and those guys in uniform couldn’t believe the smell. They were ridiculin’ me and pushin’ me around and I was cryin’, but all the time I was laughin’ to myself. When they stuck the needle in my arm for the blood test I passed out, and when I came to they were kicking me into the wall. Then they made everybody take off their pants, and I did, and this sergeant says, “Oh my God, put those back on! You fucking swine you!” Then they had a urine test and I couldn’t piss, But my poop was just like ooze, man, so I poop in the cup and put it on the counter. I had poop on my hand and my arm. The guy almost puked. I was so proud. I knew I had these chumps beat. The last thing I remember was wakin’ up in the ear test booth and they were sweepin’ up. So I went home and cleaned up.
They took a putty knife to me. I got the street rats out of my hair, ate some good steaks, beans, potatoes, cottage cheese, milk. A couple of days and I was ready to kick ass. And in the mail I got this big juicy 4-F. They’d call dead people before they’d call my ass. But you know the funny thing about it? I’d make an incredible army man. I’d be a colonel before you knew what hit you, and I’d have the baddest bunch of motherfuckin’ killers you’d ever seen in my platoon. But I just wasn’t into it. I was too busy doin’ my own thing, you know?"

I gotta admit, while my political views are the antithesis of his, I enjoyed this interview, and it humanized the guy for me. I don’t think he realizes that a lot of the political arguments he makes are essentially strawmen, and he doesn’t seem to empathize the way Joe does, but that said, he’s clearly a loving, caring guy: he cares about the environment (though I think he’s wrong about DDT, and some other statements he’s made), he thinks society should work as a helping, care taking community, and surprisingly cares a lot about mental health, and kinda understands the evils of big pharma. I can and do respect all of that quite a bit. He’s a bit of an enigma, really.
I think the biggest flaw with him, as far as I can tell, is he doesn’t look beyond his own personal experiences, which again, goes back to the empathy deficit that I think he has. It was a good conversation, and he’s a very interesting guy, but I still think he’s said some batshit insane, awful things, and that many of his solutions to societies problems are way off, but many are actually spot on (eg - society needs to be functioning more as a community of caring, helpful neighbors, as opposed to being completely self interested individuals). ✌🏼

When I was younger and dumber (I'm only 28 lol) and didn't work a full time job I used to want Government to take care of me and the people tooth and nail. I wanted America to not fight war and take care of those in need. As I got older it became more about looking out for our own (because we really need it) and start telling Americans to get themselves off the ground from all their wallowing and to stop giving a shit about the billions of people we can't save in this world.

Malaria kills millions a year, DDT has never killed a single human, nor has it ever made a person sick. A female environmentalist in the 70’s wrote a fraudulent piece on the chemical that she claimed “transmitted the barrier of an eagle egg” and caused harm to birds. And for that DDT was banned and literally hundreds of millions of died since its ban. You truly are an ignorant dolt.

Uncle Ted is blathering. Another useful old phrase is the one about "Don't put the mouth in gear until the brain is engaged." As he says, DDT was a big help, to kill them bugs that spread disease; it was later, while investigating the dwindling Bald Eagle population, that it was found that DDT in the environment accumulated in the bodies of small animals that ate bugs, and then ended up in the eagles egg shells - which became thin and weak(because of the DDT) and broke when the parent eagle tried to warm the eggs. Eliminating DDT saved the Bald Eagle, over 35 years ago. Another big opponent of DDT was Rachel Carlson, who wrote "Silent Spring" about all the chemicals we dumped into nature's waterways, affecting animals, and humans. Mrs Carlson(who was a chemist who worked for a big chemical company), was smeared and vilified by industry and politicians. Her work was a major cause of the rise of modern environmentalism. She died in the 1960s from cancers she developed from exposure to chemicals in her work. Teddy is lying and knows it. If DDT was still in use today, there wouldn't be ANY Bald Eagles. Ted's right, some environmentalists are as annoying as the PC Nazis and should be put to sleep. He's playing fast and loose with the truth, which he starts the interview telling Joe pisses him off. I admire Ted in some ways, his politics isn't one of them.

Has anyone considered the fact that American parents are separated from their children when they break the law? The child goes to child welfare services if no one takes them through no fault of their own. So in the end, children are separated from parents that break the law. This has been going on for centuries I think. Nothing new is going on here. There is no easy way to confront reality. Life is hard.
Quote from Foster Child:“I don’t think they (people) understand how it feels not being able to say mom and dad. … Going through foster care, you don’t get to say that, you know, that often. And if you do trust somebody enough to say that, who knows how long they’ll stick around.” Former foster youth, Iowa
This is no different than what is happening at the border. Where's the outrage for American kids? It's plain to me this border issue is political posturing from the media.
