    The AyaNeo 2 is the premium version of the Geek. You can tell by the pricing. The 1200p base AyaNeo 2 is $1,000 and the 1200p base Geek is $1,000. So clearly you can see the savings of the more budget model. This AyaNeo pricing structure really makes sense.

    (14:30 This really explains my recent findings, where I claimed that the AN2 performs worse (in Doom 2016) than the Steam Deck with Smart TDP enabled. Reddit people called me a liar - but it's great to see that I'm not crazy after all.) SmartTDP and SmartFan have been worthy additions to the roster, but there's still a long road ahead. That being said, the by far biggest issue I have with the AyaNeo ecosystem or AyaSpace in general, is the same issue you mentioned: Not being able to set their custom buttons to whatever I want to. Their "Steam" button is simply a shortcut to the Steam-application itself, and the "Xbox"-button is Windows+G rather than an emulated Xbox button. Therefor you're completely lost in terms of Big Picture Mode or Steam in-game usability.

    I set my refresh rate to 46hz and set my SmartTDP to 40FPS and I just put the max TDP at 33watts. It never gets to 33 watts of course, but everything works awesome and I don't see any screen tearing at all. Hopefully someone can figure out the timings needed for a 40hz refresh rate soon, but I'm fine with this for now. Runs buttery smooth and I get better battery life.

    Hi ThePhawx. I have been looking around for reviews of the 6800u where they benchmark 16gb vs 32gb memory. As the cpu and you share memory it would be nice to know if any titles today will run in to issues. I myself have had issues on the steam deck with on 16gb. But only in one game “New World” it would crash every time I teleported to a town. The fix was to increase the page file. If you have already answered this in a video I would love to know which one. Any alternative to Smart TDP ?
    On my side, it didn’t convince me for some games : on Forza 5, if game requires more TDP to keep same framerate on more consuming scene, it’s taking too much time to reach again the same fps level…you will feel lag during this time, fixed TDP give you a more fixed framerate.
    I also recommand you to fix the screen refresh rate to 46Hz to keep smooth effect. By the way, you can modify easily the target fps to 46 instead of 45 in smart TDP file (in appdata folder of your user profile) or simply change fixed value in RTSS.

    As an owner of the 5800u Onex mini, I'm so torn on my upgrade path, I love the size of the mini so the mini pro feels like an easy upgrade, but the thumbsticks leave a lot to be desired, the win 4 is 90% exactly what I want, but I want the size of the mini, Aya has better thumbsticks and bigger size but I really do not like the design, which I know is small but it bothers me in my choice on an almost 2k device (Australian dollar) however I absolutely love the Aya space app and wish the competition had a similar setup

    • @bipbop3121
      @bipbop3121 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure what you mean by set up. Windows & Aya space are already installed. It's like any windows pc for adding apps, your customization. There is an on screen keyboard (if you've used windows it is in all windows) and stick mouse or touch, afaik. You can touch, but even the gpd win 4 keyboard and nub pad is easier to use.
      I think you'll need a USB hub/dock, just to have enough ports, to use your wireless or wired peripherals, but you can use them, too.

    • @bipbop3121
      @bipbop3121 ปีที่แล้ว

      What you'll find sufficient will depend on your preferences and what games you already play. You're not going to have lag using the game pad. Whether you find touch keyboard & touch or stick mouse sufficient it's up to you. You're going to give up screen real estate and it isn't as fast as kbm. If you don't mind wireless on a pc now , then you won't mind using it here. If you find wired necessary latency wise, then this isn't going to behave better, than you might already be familiar with.

    • @bipbop3121
      @bipbop3121 ปีที่แล้ว

      If media and productivity are higher priority than gaming, get a laptop and whatever additional peripherals to game with. There's not a contest. There is that GPD ultra book with the game pad, if regular Laptops are too big for you.
      The one media exception, is listening without headphones. Steam Deck speakers appear to put many laptops to shame, but that is useful in private, not public. I would be curious for someone to compare, which handheld can drive the best headphones.
      For movies, TV look for the best 1080p/1200p screen on handheld. I haven't seen them in person, but the quality Aya IPS, look good in these video reviews.
      800p will be better for the gaming, especially if you play more demanding titles. 720/800p will not look as good on a 1080/1200 screen. Most people don't really care or notice unless side by side, though. If you're going to do more gaming, just take the hit on film viewing. If your media collection contains many lower resolution, then 720p,800p is fine for older film, too. Especially, if you have a lot of old 360-480p stuff.
      Even an OLED tablet is going to be a better viewing experience, if you prioritize watching film, movies.
      The battery life is worth not going above 1080p, 1200p. I say this as a crazy person with a 6.5" 4k phone. I can see the difference and a 4k 21:9 movie is chef's kiss. I can see the difference and most content isn't 4k, so things aren't a sharp as they spoke be. 4k buffers streaming and it's better to match the resolution you'll be working or playing in the most, if you're a picky viewer. The upscaling is really good, but I'd rather have the battery life.
      I used to read books on my psp (I'd convert them into text over background pictures), but I actually want an eink device or than a gaming pc, as far as reading goes, but live with my phone.
      Productivity side, you'll want to think about whether you're going to be more demanding on the cpu & RAM to make sure to get what you need. You're going to pay a premium getting it in handheld pc form factor vs laptop.

Was wondering if it might be possible to throw a little bit of an undervolt at these to get either a little bit more power savings by using a slightly lower TDP, or a little bit more performance at the same TDP, depending on what exactly I am needing on a per title basis.

    • @ApacheVR-4
      @ApacheVR-4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Makes no sense. I don't know why these are even compared to the steam deck when they are way more capable. It's like comparing a Xbox series s to the Xbox series x

      Same performance, better thermals, more ergonomic.
      Downside is, it's bigger, no built in keyboard(if that's your thing), doesn't look like a psp(if that's your thing), extra button placement is better imo(back is more convenient that the top, not as much an issue for people with larger hands.)

      they will sell, but thats why these are niche, priced too high for mainstream. anyone who wants a handheld gaming pc will get a steam deck, or burn money on one of these not understanding the steam deck is the best value in gaming

    • @bryanmiller476
      @bryanmiller476 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can’t really, they only make money from selling the hardware itself and don’t make anything like a percentage cut from software sales like valve does with the steam deck
      It’s just like Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft
      Their consoles would at least double in price if they only sold the devices but let another company make and run the game store

      @@mrsittingmongoose That sounds like a Steam deck fanboy comment. At the bare minimum at about $100-$200 you can play just about everything out of the box with no issue. Better screen, better internals, better analogs. Sounds like a good deal to me. The newest dead space stuff like that out of the box without waiting on Valve's tweaks. As far as controls go I'd say the Aya Neo is better at best similar at worst. The only big difference is the track pads which let's be real most people don't use. Their nice to have but not really a definitive difference.

    • @mrsittingmongoose
      @mrsittingmongoose ปีที่แล้ว

      @@businesstron The trackpads allow you to play whole genres of games you can’t otherwise play. For example rts games. You can also use them as many buttons for games that require a lot of inputs like WoW.
      You say you need to wait for optimizations by valve, well in the past that has only happened to 2-3 games and it took a couples days at most to happen. In fact they usually offer better solutions than the developer, for example no shader stuttering.
      The software makes a big difference…that is not the opinion of a fanboy, that is fact.
