As this is still a prototype unit, it isn't fair to call this a full review when things are still being baked.
Nice, because the main reason i want a Handheld PC is for ps3 emulation. I want an all in one device, and the steam deck just falls short with poor ps3 emulation performance. I would pay extra for an aya neo or AOKZoe 6800u.
I'm still using my 2020 Win Max, but very excited with how the handheld gaming PC space is progressing. By the time I can justify buying an upgrade, I will have plenty of excellent options to choose from :)
Have you ever had any quality control issues with your win max? I own the 2021 model, and I've had 5 major issues with it, the biggest one being that the battery now refuses to accept a charge at random times, and the only thing that fixes it is waiting till it doesn't want to be fussy anymore.
@@bluemidnight5926 I've had no battery problems with my Win Max, it is the Intel model so that may make a difference from the later Ryzen models. My only issues are the touch screen not working very well when charging (never use it anyway), and the screen has that famous halo issue (but is only noticeable when the screen is showing dark colours). Damn, I guess it really is just a me issue. Here's my list: 1) After 3 months of ownership, my sticks started to drift and I had to replace them myself 2) After a few more months, my speakers started to crackle and pop 3) I also get the ghosting effect on my screen where I can see my desktop and all its icons through whatever game I'm running 4) My screen started to crack all on its own from the corners. I suspect this is because of the added pressure of the Keyboard to screen defect, where when the when max is folded, the keyboard is pressed up against the screen. 5) As I've previously mentioned, my battery randomly decides to not accept a charge. I also got the short end of the stick with my wifi card, as it's incredibly slow and often doesn't catch my internet from normal distances. I know you guys had aright experiences with GPD, but never again for me.
@@bluemidnight5926 it's not a you issue specifically. I know of people who had issues with their units on the gpd discord. Also people who got lucky. It's just random luck sadly. GPD is really good with sending replacement parts but that always requires you to make the actual fix. Which is not for everyone.
Thanks for the preview. Already ordered an Aya Neo Air Pro because of it's compactness, still this sounds like a great device. Handheld pc's really have come a long way. Well done Aya.
This seems to fall right between the size of the Deck (too big IMO) and the Air (too small IMO). I think they found a great balance. But of course we each want something a little different.
@@brandon_nope I've had the Deck since February and while I've become accustomed to the size that doesn't mean I don't want something slightly smaller. So a size reduction will be a welcome addition for me.
@@brandon_nope So far nobody except a few reviewers know about the ergonomics of the Ayaneo 2 compared to SD, so I don't think it's fair to declare the Steam Deck as more ergonomic just yet. I will say from my own personal experience of having a Steam Deck, it's hand cramp city for me and I hate the size. I'd gladly trade away two touch pads for reduced size and weight, as the touch pads are only good for certain games that need it, but the console will indefinitely be bigger and heavier at all times as a result. I don't see that as a worthy trade off, but that's just me. Most other people are cool with the size.
Phenomenal review man. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and love your analysis and insights. What an incredible time to be a gamer. Thought we would see stuff like this in old age.
This is a good steeping stone. I'll wait until next year for devices with RDNA3 though because I'm hoping that it will be able to beat the SD chip at every TDP, but otherwise it seems that this thing is a pretty good device!
@@solidust573 Honestly in my case the problem is that the chips with RDNA2 aren't that powerful at low TDP compared to the Steam Deck, and the fact that the SD is now freely available in some markets. The 6800u is nice but the increased performance higher than 11 TDPs is relatively modest, while it still limits your battery a lot. Hopefully RDNA3 will be good enough that at the very least it will match the SD at low TDPs (though hopefully it'll surpass it) while increasing the performance gap at high TDPs making it a more interesting choice than just giving you the option to push a couple more of FPS compared to the SD while still having a 2 hour battery or lower.
@@Devin11246 which also applies to many other spaces. Many people will say buying an rtx 4090 at over 1.4k is too much. Others will just don't care and spend as much as they can to get the fastest available. The top end is always way more expensive than it is reasonable.
When you go into more in-depth testing, especially the comparison against the Steam Deck, I would really like to see you test battery life at 1920x1200 and at 1280x800. I know we WANT to run it at native resolution as often as possible, but when we're talking about battery life we often make sacrifices to get a little more, it would be great if you could do something like: 1) 1280x800 Steam Deck vs 1280x800 Ayaneo2 battery life and FPS comparison 2) 1920x1200 Ayaneo2 vs 1280x800 Ayaneo2 battery life and FPS comparison 3) Some battery life testing with and without FSR.
I love the build quality and the screen along with the size of this device but the price difference and what steam have done with the deck would make me choose the deck everytime
Is the price difference really that big though? I mean the 512GB Steam Deck (which I have) is $649. The early bird price for the 16GB/1TB Ayaneo2 (which I ordered) is $999. So we're at a $350 difference. With that $350 you get double the storage, a much better screen, a more powerful APU, bigger battery, HD rumble, hall sensor sticks/triggers. To me that seems like a worthwhile $350 upgrade, which is why I went for it.
Compare to the $400 model, which all my friends and I bought and upgraded ourselves and you are at a $600 difference. I can get a Steam Deck and a new Console with $100 to spare. (not counting sales tax)
@@EmergencyChannel Why would I compare it against the $400 model? I'd rather buy what I need and not have to take it apart to upgrade. I have the $649 Steam Deck and if I was buying one today that's what I would buy. So for me, it was only a $350 difference, but even at a $600 difference I still say the performance, screen, hall sensor sticks, HD rumble, USB4, etc is all a worthwhile upgrade. Especially since if you buy a $400 Steam Deck then upgrade to a 1TB 2230 SSD and hall sensor sticks, you are coming in around $650, but then still have an inferior APU and far worse screen.
@@bnr32jason thats assuming that youre going to buy the 512gb steam deck. I got the 62gb with an ssd in it and i probably wouldnt spend the additional $600 for the above. And that goes up by another $200 after the early bird period ends for the Aya Neo 2, right? ~$800 more is a huge difference if really you just want to play some games on the go.
@@general_jacob8949 it all depends on what you want out of a handheld. For me one of the most important things is the screen, and the screen is terrible on the Steam Deck, that's both by my opinion and the specs of the screen. Also I run into quite a few games where if I just had a tiny bit more power on my Deck I could run them exactly how I wanted. The $400 Steam Deck requires additional money to be spent on at least a SD card, but seems many people install a 1TB SSD which is more money. Then you are still missing all the other benefits, which I think are VERY worth it.
I've had my Steam Deck for a couple months now and I was worried this would make me regret it (IMO it looks a thousand times better than the Steam Deck). But your video made me love it even more! It's incredible what Valve has been able to accomplish with it, and for a fraction of the price!
As powerful as aya release handhelds, the steam deck has always looked more comfortable to hold than anything that ever has been, or is currently on the market. Aya neo has always been too flat & having the dpad below the analog stick is horrendously uncomfortable.
@@johnfrankster3244 it's the other way for me, can't imagine more uncomfortable handheld than Deck, weight, size and button placement just kills it for me, still nothing can't beat Switch Lite with a good grip case and this one looks close enough so I'm happy they're making handhelds like these cuz not everyone is the same
@@trevyn1016 But you can only access that power at high TDP's, which essentially means you're now fighting with the battery. The Steam Deck technically has a smaller battery, but since it runs games at double the performance of the The 6800U at stupidly low TDP's, you actually get more life out of the Steam Decks smaller battery than you would with either of these Ayaneo devices. The 6800U only just begins to match the SteamDecks performance outputs at 15 watts, which is the max TDP of the Steam Deck. Personally, I think the Steam Deck is a much better device.
Cant wait for progress in battery endurance for these handhelds. Talking a good standard 4hrs+ battery life for AAA titles out of the box without need for tinkering the tdp
Great review, interesting device. It's not for me as I have a steam deck but its good there's options for people who dont live in a country where you can buy a steam deck.
At 15w tdp, it is consuming 28w total. What makes it that power hungry? Is it the hi-res screen? Or the joystick rgb? Or is it bec of ayaspace? I have the Next and when I set the tdp to 15 watts, it only consumes 20w total.
36:13 That problem does not exist on the Deck with SteamOS. My UMA size was mostly 1 GB (one update had it changed to 2 I think), but games don't complain. Maybe it's a Linux thing, that it doesn't report just 1 GB to the applications (finished HZD).
Man, I have my early bird pledge already locked in for that awesome looking B.Duck edition, but after seeing this, I kinda feel like canceling it. The Steam Deck just runs things way better at stupidly low TDP's, and I don't think I can go back from that. Having access to more power is great, but I never felt like I needed it on Steam Deck. It runs games at amazing frame rates and really knows how to stretch that battery. I feel like with this Ayaneo 2 device, I'd have to run games at 15 watts or higher, and that's not something I'm interested in doing. Higher TDP's means more heat and less battery life. Before seeing this, I was getting ready to sell my Steam Deck, but now? I think I appreciate it a lot more. Thanks for this Phawx. The insight really saved me from making a poor decision.
Totally agree with you, I also put in pledge yest for the early bird backer of the AyaNeo2 2TB +32gb version for 1200. My thoughts after watching this are mixed. I think it'll really come down to how much better the screen is on this versus the SD. VibrantDeck for SD helped alot on the contrast, but 1200P + 135% sRGB just is plain better. I would have liked to hear a bit more about how the speakers and haptics compare too to the SD. If they're gamechanging better, then I'm fine keeping the pledge. At least until SD2 arrives : )
@@gadgetsawol3614 Bro, it's so funny you said that. Since leaving my original comment, I've been considering exactly everything you just said. It's like you read my mind lol. What you said is the same exact reason why I haven't cancelled my Ayaneo 2 preorder yet. The screen. The more colorful screen is super important to me, and although the Steam Deck performs well at low wattages, the panel valve used is not good. Some people downplay the importance of the panel vs the units performance, but I believe they are both equally important. ETA Prime says the screen on the Aya2 is very close to OLED. I just might deal with having to play at higher TDP's if it means I get a screen that nice. Great comment bro.
I bought the 800p geek version, would be worth to get a 1200p version? My main concern is not resolution but overall image quality. Just not sure if it's worth the extra $200.
I went with the 800p model too. Coming from a steam deck I know ill be happy with it on that small of a screen. Plus it will mean better performance/FPS in games which I usually prioritize more vs having immaculate image quality
Aya is making great HW. I actually sold my Steam Deck and kept my Aya founder's edition because the former wasn't getting much use as most of my library is not compatible with Linux/Steamdeck
I have a huge GoG library and I don't have access to so many of those games. That's also why I'm looking to sell my Steam Deck too now. How much do you think is a fair price on a used 512 GB model?
You say that the power button/fingerprint sensor is too far from your finger reach but you don’t realize they’ve done this in the prior iterations of ayaneo devices like the air and the power button on that (being so close to the side) ends up sticking out too much to where it becomes uncomfortable to press and sometimes even pokes your finger. Dude it look like you want all the buttons to the side because you’re too lazy to reach for it Everything else you’ve mentioned is a great review so well done
@@protocetid I have a steam deck but I really want one of these 6800u handhelds. I low-key thought about selling my deck to get one of these it's so beautiful
I pre-ordered a onexplayer2 but keep watching vids on the ayaneo 2 thinking man idk lol. I would have felt the same way if I went ayaneo tho, they are both such incredible devices. Onexplayer has all the gimmicks, but ayaneo is absolutely gorgeous and that screen. Oou... I may need to save some more money *sigh*
Can you try to lock the 6800u CPU to 4 cores and 8 threads like the Steam Deck APU? 🤔 So perhaps will deliver more power to just 4 cores or utilized them more with less power?
I love that you're not the first reviewer that changed their grade on the DPad after using it in game. The Dpad looks like it wouldn't be good but turns out looks are deceiving.
Could you maybe compare the device to the Deck with SteamOS on both, and maybe also against the Win Max 2? Although it seems to me that the performance is the same as on the GPD (my WM2 arrives next week, at last).
Question about the portrait-based display: does it cause any weird issues running Windows applications like Chrome, web-based full-screen videos (TH-cam, etc.), MS Office programs like Excel, or any other apps like Spotify? Or does Windows 11 basically orient and scale everything so that it mimics a landscape display perfectly? Also, would having the portrait display cause any weird issues when hooking it up to a 4K TV via a dock and HDMI out? Or would Windows 11 adjust accordingly when connected to an external display, and re-adjust automatically when removing from docked mode and going back to handheld?
Hey Phawx 👋 Could you try to install SteamOS on the Neo 2 and than compare it to the SteamDeck? 🙂 Would be awesome 🙏 Otherwise it feels like comparing aples to pineaples :')
SteamOS hasn’t been released officially so any comparison would be off using an extracted form of the OS. Since that’s the case, why not compare Windows on Steam Deck with the Ayaneo 2? That would make more sense.
I think if that if AyaNeo has to include one on it then it'll probably best be at the back. Otherwise the handheld will be a bit too wide and unwieldy for me, because there is currently no room. What are your thoughts on Steam Deck's track pads being on the front? Is the width factor not much of an issue there?
Oh, a quick little test that would be great, is fan noise vs Steam Deck. Maybe max out the Deck at 15watt and max out the Ayaneo2 and then just use a little sound app to test. Doesn't need to be super accurate by the numbers, just knowing the difference would be great.
This same watt on the Ayaneo side is distributed to more hardware than on the steam deck which makes it less efficient to translate into performance, for example 9w for 8/16 cpu 12 rdna2 cus vs 4/8 cpu 8 rdna2 cus on steam deck. Things that could improve performance: 1- Disable SMT, 8 zen3 real cores will still be better than 4/8 zen2 steam deck. 2- Some kind of configuration to distribute resources more efficiently between cpu and gpu for better performance in games, from this 9w most part going to gpu can make a difference. 3- Of course changing os. Just a guess.
Great preview and finally somebody who gives me a proper idea of how the battery is going to be. I'm still not sure I'm going to order it. I have a SD and have tons of fun with it. I might get this down the line if the reviews keep this positive or I just might change the SD joysticks with hall censored ones and a bigger HD.
Do you feel severely impacted by the stock joysticks on the SD, or are you moreso looking to increase longevity? I ask because I got my SD a couple weeks ago and the way people talked about the joysticks got me worried and looking at the gulikit, but once I got hands-on with it it seems blown way out of proportions.
@@Genetic17 I think they are just fine but if I'm going to upgrade the ssd i might al well upgrade the joysticks. Don't want to keep opening my SD every single time
Great work Phawx, thank you! I have something to say that hopefully will reach the maker and designer of the input. The many generations of controllers that have been painstakingly engineered to fit the contours of the hand, that is not conducive to stressing, and that we are STILL not seeing that in the design framework of handhelds, its really boggling to me. Talking about the dpad by you several times Phawx, as well as others, in just the placement of this fundamental component; deviating from the natural range of where it has been placed, and naturally meeting the contour of the thumb at rest, I don't get it. Why is this still being sacrificial for aesthetic design during the engineering phase? The Steam Deck at least places the thumb pad in the + direction of natural thumb placement and in parallel to the analog. Valve's process was take the time to engineer it right the first time for first edition devices and they got it spot on! "Do it right the first time" and "don't reinvent the wheel" (or perhaps controller design in this case). Ayaneo, I would NOT buy this device simply for the placement of the dpad. I can tell from someone holding this device that it would not enable using it for any instance. I get the aesthetic focus and the glass cover, the complexity in manufacturing more complex edges (if the dpad was of center from the analog creating zig-zag shape rather than oval). Match the placement found on the XBOX controller. that placement is perfected and is NOT patented in terms of measurement offset of the analog in the -Y+X axis direction Focus on the center of the palm from the base of the index finger towards the lower left quadrant of the hand closer to the wrist - its placement and where the NATURAL thumb contours the side and where it lands and only deviating from this point by at most 10-15 degrees.

hello and thank you but is it possible to have real performances in video in high without fsr because all the videos that I see of our American friends put fsr or play in low and medium...15, 20 and 35watts! Is the console so weak that you have to play with the fsr or in medium and low for fear that ayaneo will delete your videos??
Appreciate you still including details that doesn’t affect your personal use case but might affect others!! The deadzones are way too big for the games I’d like to play and doesn’t quite make sense for Hall sensors that are supposed to be resistant to stick drift. Also the offset alignment of the analog and buttons definitely makes a difference and this layout isn’t good especially for using the right analog with no leverage. They should have made it offset sort of matching their offset oblong buttons on the bottom. Missed opportunity imo.
Hmm I guess I got lazy having Odin Lite ;) - i have a feeling that an absolute minimum for battery should be 2.5 hours (regardless of chosen TDP). I mean, this device is beautiful, both design way and the overall esthetics of it, screen, BUT i guess in these "high performance" handhelds, I have a feeling that the technology is not there yet. Maybe in next year, the CPUs will be more optimized. I mean, it's crazy that we can run games with such sophisticated graphics but, at the end of the day, the battery life is not there yet. I have fast internet - for really demanding games (like Cyberpunk with raytracing), it seems that for me is just better to pay like 30-40 $ for half year subscription promo on geforce now and play like that, on cheaper device such as Odin (or even Steam Deck) instead of device working in high TDP, heating and eating battery life damn fast :) It's also ... getting expensive. I mean, when I travel, I can easily live with PS2, Gamecube, 3DS, average PC games, indie games on Steam Deck OR Odin Lite. When I'm at home, I can stream demanding games via Geforce Now or locally (steam link, moonlight etc.). I'm not sure if it's all worth. I mean, I already have faar too many devices, and i probably cannot afford another one in my head ;) It's very tempting to have another device, very powerful one, but yea, it's expensive and in my opinion the technology (cpu / battery life) is not there yet. Good review :)
I read the other day that the 2TB Aya Neo 2’s are having some issues due to the drive failing. Apparently they are using a cheap Chinese manufacturer for the 2TB drives and some are overheating. Have you heard of this issue and do you know if they are planning to address it in the future?? Appreciate any feedback you may have as I have a 2TB version ordered.
I'd pull the trigger, but the button placement looks like hand cramps waiting to happen compared to the steam deck. Im going long term comfort for my emulation machine.
The difference in size comparison between the steam deck and the aya neo 2 should not be an issue because the ergonomics on the SD are noticeably a lot better. I had pre-orders on both the OXP mini pro and the aya 2 and decided to cancel because of the ergonomics.
The product in a vacuum is amazing. But once I start wondering about repairability, availability, price, long term support, I start having my doubts on whether it's worth buying one.
Great review! was really waiting for that battery life, 4 hours max? That's... ugh.. ugh.... I dunno man. Like I love how these devices are coming out but when you're at home with a pc that probably has more power and we can stream, just.. ya know? Like I got my Odin, I got castor on my pc where I can still use my pc to stream, and I can play these games at HQ at 1080p and not have to worry about my battery, that's kinda big, and then when I want to go on the road I have the battery life to play nearly everything I want, with emulation that is. I just really would like to know how many people out there are taking these things out of the home, ya know? Like do they have special cases for these, do they bring a battery pack, how long does it take to charge? The weight, the size.. For me, I'm just going to wait a few years till we can get reasonable battery life so this thing will actually be portable and at a size I can take with me, that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
Ergonomics just seem to be a big problem with almost all the handheld gaming PC's since they still chase compactness over ergonomics, that's where the Steam Deck nailed it, also I personally hate the all glass front and would much prefer it only over the screen which allows the hand grip area to be more contoured and less of an edge. I think the other big problem is simply that the Steam Deck exists, sadly it's hard for the other companies to compete on price, so this just ends up far too expensive, especially given the limited performance boost while keeping TDP low enough for reasonable battery life, I think it's going to take to RDNA3 based APUs before it will hit enough performance boost to justify the price over the Steam Deck.
Nice review~ Does it support the adaptive sync, to avoid the frame tearing. And does it have the ability to manually change the refresh rate to 40fps, like the SD? Thanks
I really thought this was one of those Chinese knockout version of Steamdeck. Turns out it's a premium version. Now I'm in a dilemma if I should get this or Steamdeck at half price.
Taking a look at the 11w and under, I wonder if you can match the SteamDeck if you limit number of cores/threads at lower wattage. In theory you should be able to boost higher on fewer cores, but I don't have a 6800u system to test. Just a thought, anybody try this already? If so, what did you find out?
He already tried with the GPD Win Max 2. Watch his comparison of that against the Steam Deck but in a nutshell it didn't affect performance. It actually made it worse in some cases, probably due to the shared cache that the chip has.
Man, as much as I really want the Aya Neo 2, the steamdeck is just overall the better buy for what I plan on playing. Already have an Air Pro as my emulation device so probably going to get a steamdeck over the Aya Neo 2 for my main handheld gaming.
If you get the SD, I suggest getting the lowest tier model and upgrading the memory. Don't do what I did, which was buying the highest model for 700 bucks after tax, then still wanting to upgrade the storage. The anti glare screen isnt even worth it, as you'll likely be using a glass screen protector anyway. Also, keep in mind that the SD has a 70% color gamut on its display, which is less accurate than the OG Switch, and yes, you'll notice it. The color accuracy becomes less noteacable once you're engaged with a game, but when I first start up m Deck, I always notice how dull it tends to look. Not trying to discourage you from getting a SD, but this is all info that isnt talked about and I wish I knew before I got mine.

I like the front mounted glass and how they covered up the screen bezels. Such a good looking handheld.

@@bnr32jason You get used to the Deck's size and honestly I really don't mind it at all when the controls are more ergonomic
@@bluemidnight5926 How the hell does it cramp your hands??? I can't imagine what the Switch feels like for you then

Can't wait for the real deal/review of the GPD Win 4 (and your happy face)
Same...been around since GPD Win 1. The Aya Neo 2 is the one i been looking forward to out of all the new 6800U devices.
@Balakeh just bought x3 steam decks having fun with it
my ps5 and series x brand new never used since since steam deck here
I joined in back when the max got released and got a win 2 and I'm now just waiting for a spiritual successor to be released
Thank you for the great preview! This device looks fantastic, can't wait to get one.
One thing I learned today about Phawx is that he touches a lot of bases.
Thanks to your review i ordered the ayaneo geek (the cheapest one, got it for 749 that in my opinion is steam deck levels of value)
Awesome review man! I chose the retro power color too
This is a good steeping stone. I'll wait until next year for devices with RDNA3 though because I'm hoping that it will be able to beat the SD chip at every TDP, but otherwise it seems that this thing is a pretty good device!
By that time there will probably be other things to beat. The search for better performance is never ending.
Funny thing is - before this release, folks were saying they're going to wait for rdna 2 🤣 now it's rdna3.
It better at almost 3x the price lol
@@Devin11246 which also applies to many other spaces. Many people will say buying an rtx 4090 at over 1.4k is too much. Others will just don't care and spend as much as they can to get the fastest available. The top end is always way more expensive than it is reasonable.
When you go into more in-depth testing, especially the comparison against the Steam Deck, I would really like to see you test battery life at 1920x1200 and at 1280x800. I know we WANT to run it at native resolution as often as possible, but when we're talking about battery life we often make sacrifices to get a little more, it would be great if you could do something like:
1) 1280x800 Steam Deck vs 1280x800 Ayaneo2 battery life and FPS comparison
2) 1920x1200 Ayaneo2 vs 1280x800 Ayaneo2 battery life and FPS comparison
3) Some battery life testing with and without FSR.
Awesome. Thanks again for the coverage!
I pre-ordered the ayaneo 2 and really interested in looking at the bios options. Hope you make a video about it. Thanks.
@@johnfrankster3244 same with the right analog stick incredibly uncomfortable to bend your thumb down all the way down almost to your wrist
The Geek 800p is $750 and is more ergonomic than the Neo2. It also is way more powerful than the SteamDeck

@@bluemidnight5926 BlueMidnight!! 🙌 you too man 😄
He does review things very well. Explaining he was being nit picky about some things!
Finally!!! Thanks for the vid
The design and color combinations are very retro and the performance is great.
7:00 that's not nit picky imho.
Price needs to be very competitive, first one was too much in comparison.
Hoping we will have varied screen size.
@@bluemidnight5926 I see people bidding around $550 for the 512gb one on ebay. So I assume around that price.
512GB SD is around $600 on my fb marketplace. One guy has his at $750.
Dude it look like you want all the buttons to the side because you’re too lazy to reach for it

Cool handheld dude, it's gonna doing it...
Windows is better
SteamOS hasn’t been released officially so any comparison would be off using an extracted form of the OS. Since that’s the case, why not compare Windows on Steam Deck with the Ayaneo 2? That would make more sense.
Beautiful review brother
Man every time I make up my mind on a sweet handheld I have no clue what to buy after a video like this 🤣
I really hope aya thinks about putting trackpads. I can't have a device without a Trackpad after been spoiled by the steam deck.
Aya Neo Next 2 will have track pads, but its a whole other level of device with a dGPU and not just an iGPU.

Oh, a quick little test that would be great, is fan noise vs Steam Deck. Maybe max out the Deck at 15watt and max out the Ayaneo2 and then just use a little sound app to test. Doesn't need to be super accurate by the numbers, just knowing the difference would be great.
@ 34:45 the lights are blue now? Lol there not white for only production model?? Hmmmm...
How on earth is Steam Deck able to pull off such results at low TDP? That's insane.
Wish the cursor speed was faster. Moves very slow which causes me to keep downgrading my software but the new features are better
This same watt on the Ayaneo side is distributed to more hardware than on the steam deck which makes it less efficient to translate into performance, for example 9w for 8/16 cpu 12 rdna2 cus vs 4/8 cpu 8 rdna2 cus on steam deck. Things that could improve performance:
1- Disable SMT, 8 zen3 real cores will still be better than 4/8 zen2 steam deck.
2- Some kind of configuration to distribute resources more efficiently between cpu and gpu for better performance in games, from this 9w most part going to gpu can make a difference.
3- Of course changing os.
Just a guess.
Cant believe u got one im counting the days
Just got the steam deck. But I am glad other options are available.
Match the placement found on the XBOX controller. that placement is perfected and is NOT patented in terms of measurement offset of the analog in the -Y+X axis direction
Focus on the center of the palm from the base of the index finger towards the lower left quadrant of the hand closer to the wrist - its placement and where the NATURAL thumb contours the side and where it lands and only deviating from this point by at most 10-15 degrees.
They aren't going to change it if that is what you were thinking

I have fast internet - for really demanding games (like Cyberpunk with raytracing), it seems that for me is just better to pay like 30-40 $ for half year subscription promo on geforce now and play like that, on cheaper device such as Odin (or even Steam Deck) instead of device working in high TDP, heating and eating battery life damn fast :)
It's also ... getting expensive. I mean, I already have faar too many devices, and i probably cannot afford another one in my head ;)
It's very tempting to have another device, very powerful one, but yea, it's expensive and in my opinion the technology (cpu / battery life) is not there yet.
Good review :)
18W is impressive as hell, but I think this really shows how amazing a job valve done with the deck.

Try turn off 4 cores of the CPU when comparing with the Steam Deck.

This is the problem with this brands, I don't trust them.
How will we handle physical damage? Like broken analog or screen and stuff?
I'd pull the trigger, but the button placement looks like hand cramps waiting to happen compared to the steam deck. Im going long term comfort for my emulation machine.
Would be nice to compare the performance with Steam Deck using holoiso.
The difference in size comparison between the steam deck and the aya neo 2 should not be an issue because the ergonomics on the SD are noticeably a lot better. I had pre-orders on both the OXP mini pro and the aya 2 and decided to cancel because of the ergonomics.

hi how do you like audio? it's good? that of the aokzoe a1 is not that great....
Did you try to reconfigure dead zones on joysticks? Aya space has this feature, does it work ?
The product in a vacuum is amazing. But once I start wondering about repairability, availability, price, long term support, I start having my doubts on whether it's worth buying one.
Fantastic review/preview. I'm wondering how Kirby & the forgotten land switch will work on it along with some Motorstorm on PS3!
For me, I'm just going to wait a few years till we can get reasonable battery life so this thing will actually be portable and at a size I can take with me, that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
wich one you consider it a better option, gpd win max 2 2022 (6800U) or aya neo 2 for the same price
Can you limit the 6800u to only use 4 cores? I think it would improve performance at all power budgets since it leaves more to the iGPU
What would happen to the low tdp fps if you disabled 4 cores making it 4 cores 8 threads like the deck? Would that be feasible?
It's interesting that ETAPrime was able to get Nvidia eGPU's working fine on his, I wonder what the difference is?
Might be a beta firmware update?
Maybe a better question what does the battery life look like on 1280 by 800 resolution?
whenever i try to use the ayaquicktool in minimizes my game, anyone know how fix this?
If you could only have one, would you have the AyaNeo 2 or GPD WinMax2?
Nice review~ Does it support the adaptive sync, to avoid the frame tearing. And does it have the ability to manually change the refresh rate to 40fps, like the SD? Thanks
I really thought this was one of those Chinese knockout version of Steamdeck. Turns out it's a premium version. Now I'm in a dilemma if I should get this or Steamdeck at half price.
We are curious about the gaming performance on rdr2
Taking a look at the 11w and under, I wonder if you can match the SteamDeck if you limit number of cores/threads at lower wattage. In theory you should be able to boost higher on fewer cores, but I don't have a 6800u system to test.
Just a thought, anybody try this already? If so, what did you find out?
This is something I want to do if the AOKZOE ever actually arrives to my door…
He already tried with the GPD Win Max 2. Watch his comparison of that against the Steam Deck but in a nutshell it didn't affect performance. It actually made it worse in some cases, probably due to the shared cache that the chip has.
@@TheBaxes Do you remember which video? (asking cause there are a lot).
Cheers.
@@bluemidnight5926 Yup went with the steam deck 64gb. Also bought a 1tb ssd for it. Not sure where to buy the tempered glass protector for it though. Any ideas? Thinking maybe the one made for the switch oled will work well.
@@soulreaperx7x It's said that they both have the same screen size, although think the decks screen looks a smidge bigger personally. I got my screens from Dbrand, but they're like 25 bucks, and I only paid that much because I heard they had the only screen protectors that don't negate the antiglare effect on the most expensive SD. model. FYI, that wasn't true, so I wouldn't go with Dbrand. You might do better just by searching amazon for a 10-15 dollar generic brand.
