Well I bought these after your review and they fucking rock. The app does load EQ profiles to the cable, so you could use it with other IEMs! And it works fine without the app, which I got to work on my Android phone with some struggling. I don't care about that, they sound great on their own, just as good as the Katos in my opinion and the nice cable is a huge bonus. The detail and imaging is crazy good, and the bass is satisfying as hell lol.
Have had these for a few days now and they are exceptional value for money. I am currently listening to them on my main headphone rigs and Bob sounds sweet and punchy and getting me emotional. Praise HIM. There is a really good balance to my ears. Nothing shouts. Bass doesn't bleed. Nice stage. And that's without the DSP, amp and DAC cable which I also rate. It doesn't beat my portables but it is true hifi. I will certainly use it when weight is critical. The cable itself is silver plated OFC and the app is a mysterious thing. I have had it working more often than not. Restarts aplenty. the cable keeps the setting you program without the app running so not a real issue. 4 of the 5 presets are nice to play with. I am working my way through other IEMs on the cable. So much fun for so little money. Bingo
I have a pair of Quarks and May (usb versions) and I love the sound out of the Mays as they are more rounded and refined but I just can't get with the way they fit in my ears. So bottom line is, if I'm relaxing at home I use the Mays but if I'm on the move the Quarks are easier to deal with so I use them more!
Well, after many many of your reviews helping me decide on the usual Hi-Fi brands, I’ve now just taken my first step into this new Chinese IEM hype…. These will be used alongside a set of Shure SE425 which I have always found absolutely sublime (for my ears). So at the very least I’ve got a nice case on the way 🤣 Thanks Z
I've had the Aria, not the Zero but the Hexa. It's not a direct upgrade per se, but I definitely prefer the May over the Hexa and definitely over the Aria just because of the better ergonomics.
@@silentKeys20 Sounds great. I like the Truthear Zero since they're super comfortable for my ears. Had less fatigue and better sound experience compared to the Aria, but I'm sure it's my subjective taste in sound. I'm interested in the May when I get the chance.
I have had s12 pros for about an year. Loved this but lately feel like trying something with a little less treble and more musical if that makes sense. I’m confused between kiwi ears melody and the moondrop may. Any suggestions??
Oh no... looks like I'll be hitting Amazon up again...!!! Cheaper than the Moondrop Aria... which I do own and often listen to...!!! Certain aspects of the 21st century are great...!!!
The app sucks and only works with android when it works at all. That being said it is still well worth it. If MOONDROP fixes the app it is a home run. Hopefully they will because rumor is the blessing 3 dawn will be a usbc dsp set as well.
Guys, please help. I would like to buy the Moondrop Aria 2. Is the BASS and sound clarity in it good and is it worth the price? If we were to put a percentage difference between it and the MoonDrop CHU 2, how much difference would it give me in performance? Also, the difference in clarity of details between Moondrop Aria 2 and Dioko, is it a big difference or is it better?
I had the aria 2. Just returned them yesterday. I like the bass of the blon bl03. And compared to it, the aria's practically had NO BASS. None. The clearity is very very good. But the absolute absence of bass is just a no no for me.
Get this instead of the Arias 2. Or the Blons BL03 as the guy above mentioned. Both have much better bass than Aria 2. The CHU2's do have bass but the comfort isn't that good, imo.
@@silentKeys20 You know that the price of the Moondrop Aria 2 is three times more than the MoonDrop CHU 2. I do not compare it directly, but at this price you should get better performance. Thank you.
Based on my own experience with the app, it is not always reliable and even when it works it is not good. The real question is, regardless of the app, is the May worth buying for your phone that only has a port for USB-C?
Yes. It is a great grab and go set since you don’t need a dongle. I keep it in my car. There are cheaper good options for usbc sets but this is the best I’ve heard
FiR Radon 6 were the last that were good. Prestige LTD were the last that were good. Clairvoyance were the last that were good. Oracle MK1 were the last that were good.
Does it seem to the Moondrop Free DSP cable on these? Been wanting to get that and try them with my Arias and Starfields. Wishing Zeos could swap those other moondrops with that cable.
@@madmatt151 The set itself w/o Free DSP is better than the Arias. I've never auditioned the Starfields so can't comment. In any case, consider the Free DSP is about $30, you're getting a set of great sounding IEMs for $35. Really can't beat that price with the sound quality it offers. If you're interested in owning a great new set while getting Free DSP then definitely May. Otherwise if you want just save some money then nothing wrong to get the Free DSP cable alone as well.
It's basically on par with the Katos. Subjectively, build quality is better on the Katos but this is way more comfortable due to the 3D printed shell which feels a lot like the Variation's.
No way. Variations has more detail by far, and better sub bass, and better cable. May has a little but more forward female vocals though, which I liked. I returned May and kept Variations.
usb c cable only and dsp? I wont buy them on principal alone especially given the competitors around that range. Give me headphone jacks or give me death
I mean you can use them without. Most people have said they sound better on a different cable anyway. Moondrop released these around the same time they released the DSP Cable so they paired them together just to push sales.
You out here pretending like you don't already a bajillion normal cables lying around. The DSP cable is just a plus if you want to directly plug into your phone, otherwise it's just a normal IEM.
Possibly, this may or may be completely nonsensical, do your research, if you have time on your hands, or not.....the audio engineers in China have decided they have had enough of communism, and don't want the blue jackets to hear them coming for them in the darkness...a totally random thought, delivered to this space from the tangent I'm currently off on.
The Moondrop app seems to be shit on iOS and Android as well, so not just your Sony phone.
Why shit?
And why your comment 2 weeks old and video uploaded 7hr ago?
