This is one of my favorite videos, because it’s a representation of the freedom of choice. Live scope is such a controversial subject. There is a divide among fisherman as big as “rifle hunters and bow hunters”. As hunters and fisherman, we are all outdoorsman. So to come out with your opinion, and not allow the controversy to place you on a certain side or cause you to cower under the pressure is commendable. And we need to respect others that have a difference in opinions. It’s what makes us human.. 😉👍
I Like that you throw some back, I do also, i dont try to over harvest even bluegills, espesially big ones that have the genetics to produce more big fish, 6 to 8 bluegills make a nice meal .!
I agree with you 100%... I myself have a very low end lowrance just to see how deep im fishing and water temp... to me livescope takes the fun and enjoyment out of fishing... I guess they can you and I and others like us old school ... keep up the great work and God bless Brother..
This is one of my favorite videos because so many people use live scope and only pay attention to their electronics instead of the beauty of nature that is going on around them
Great video! Fishing should have some challenge to it. I believe the days I’ve been fishing with my family, catching or fishing, and even the days where we had to work for fish were just as awesome.
got my first spinning set up like a month ago and got on some drum and cats in kansas, im back home in ga and got my first crappie from the bank and your channels been helping me out allot. just subbed thanks for the info!
This is one of my favorite videos. I think for just casual relaxing day of fishing the hunt and the time should be valued. I feel that I learn more if I have to figure it out!
I like your view on FFS. I am old school and enjoy the experience of finding and not knowing what I may catch. I have fished with guys that have it but and it's a expensive tool. Fishing for me is enjoying finding them on my own instincts and not staring at a screen all day.
This is my favorite video because I have been back and forth about live scan and weather or not to get it and you showed me that I dont need it to be successful
Come on boss man. Staring at your cork and staring at a screen are 2 different things. Staring at that cork you don’t know when you will get that bite, anticipation of not knowing when that cork is going to do down etc. VS well seeing all that unfold pretty much. It’s the thrill of not knowing. I answered both of these questions in the video boss man! Thanks for watching brother. God bless
I agree with . I have Lowrance that comes with active target but I don’t prefer to stand on the screen all day I just use it to locate the fish that’s it .
I like your old school point of view. I have a Garmin 93 but no live scope. I quit tournament fishing years ago because they took the fun out of fishing.
Totally agree. I fish with live scope because I want to. I'm not doing it to impress anyone and could care less if someone is or isn't impressed. Its all about putting fish in the frying pan! Fish on!
Love the channel I have the Dow scan sonar mounted on the back of my boat never really learned how to use it to my advantage. I’ll keep watching and hopefully you’ll cover that setup on how to use it to catch more toads
Great vid . I got Livescope as an add-on to the 93sv. I use it to see exactly where branches are, if there are fish or no fish, correct my hook depth, and to look if I haven't been bit in a while. I refuse to stare at a screen on the weekend sitting on a Texas lake.
Agree Buddy , I use it most of the time for open water, and to see if timber is holding fish that way I don't waste time on timber that is empty. during creek season most of the time is bank fishing, good video👍👍see ya
The only people who complain about live scope are the ones who don't have it. I know because I was that person until...it's like a video game can be a challenge and can be some good trips. You gotta put in the time it won't just throw them in the boat. My opinion if you got it why not use it just because someone thinks you shouldn't. Legal. Love the vids brother and God Bless🙏🏿🎣💯
Good points but I think the biggest thing is it takes the biggest challenge out of fishing and that is not knowing where the fish are. To me that's just not fun.
What’s up 903 fam, FYI Caleb this is my other account so when you see Marquette or Marq Brown on your channel it’s the same person. Any hoo! I totally agree with you I started fishing without any electronics then I bought a fish finder and then I was convinced to buy livescope about a month 1/2 ago. So like you always say it doesn’t matter as long as you are putting fish in the boat. I appreciate you and all of your videos so keep up the great work, haters are going to hate anyway.
Great video you can add to it by showing people how to put out their own tops totally old school if you use Willow tops you can fish on it in a week thanks again
Learning so much from all your vid's. I really appreciate you for sharing your technics as I am a new Crappie angler I caught one out Bass fishing and didn't even know they were on this river! So now I am trying to catch them I got out one day in the kayak for a few hours I didn't find any but I have been watching a ton of your vids and I am ready for this weekend to give it another try !!! Again thank you and Hanna for sharing info!!! 🎣😎
I agree with everything that you said. Some of the tournaments here have rules that state that you can't use livescope. I can't see spending that kind of money . Keep up the great work. God bless.
I pretty much agree with you about Lscope . One might make the point that it takes very little skill and a whole bunch of money just to watch a fish take your bait . Anticipation in fishing is one of the best things about it imo . I've always been about the " thump " . Aint nothing like it . Grew up casting to stumps with a jig and bobber or fishing brushpiles on the ledges . And it still works .
I have been debating on the Garmin 93sv or getting a humminbird 9 mega SI. I agree that staring at a screen takes the enjoyment out of fishing. to me you wouldnt get the enjoyment out of seeing nature and the surprise of the bite. Where I fish there are numerous bald eagle nests and I get to see them flying around all the time. not to mention the deer along the shore line.
Yes sir. You miss out on nature as well staring at a screen, I agree with that! Thanks for watching and the support! God bless! I would go with the helix 9 with that side imaging for sure.
Fantastic video and I fully agree. To me it takes the fun out of being on the lake. Do you have a video where you show how you mark a brush pile with a buoy to know exactly where the brush pile is and how to fish it ? Thanks again for a great video
Lol I just made a video couple weeks ago on this exact subject. Do you watch? Lol here is the link to the video! Enjoy! God bless th-cam.com/video/8-Kr_54KK4w/w-d-xo.html
Caleb the way you pUt fish in the boat you don’t need lives ope besides that would take the fun out of fishing to start with. You just got to know how to fish for them. That’s why you are teaching us how to fish for crappies. Love your Chanel keep up the good work and I’ll see you on the next one 👍❤️
I agree about it’s the excitement of the thump when vertical jigging and waiting for that bobber to go down. If you like livescope then more power to you and use it.
Love the video you did a great job as always.😊 All I have is a regular fish finder as well that's all you need in my opinion!! Could have the other I choose not to! I hope the watchers are paying attention to little details in your videos. Curious if you have spot lock on your trolling motor? You have a good and blessed day😎.
My settings are how it came out the box. I didn’t mess with anything, but I’m thinking about doing a video on it anyway. Thanks for watching! God bless
Soon as this heat wave is over going to pickwick dam and do some slipcorking if I don’t fall and hurt myself everything is harder when you are dissabled
Same here, and for the first time I have caught a ton of crappie using 903’s slip bobber/minnow set up during the Michigan spawn in May. It was so very simple. I look forward to the Fall spawn in September/October.
I agree with you Caleb that anticipation is the fun part of fishing. Great video once again. You’re doing well and I’m hopefully going to contact you next June or July for a crappie trip.
I enjoy watching you because you don't use live scope just 2D and down imaging like I have on bow and side image on console. I'm still happy to throw my orange bouy markers like you do
I 100% agree. It really does take the joy out of fishing. The big figuring out part. Fished with a friend with heir live scope and ... I'll be fine with a regular 2d Fish Finder. Don't get me wrong it's pretty cool that live scope. But I like to fish
Oh man... stepping in a hornets nest here! I use it... it helps me find fish - not catch fish. I can also fish structure that I normally wouldn't know is there unless it's a familiar lake. I also think it helps me jig fishing vs minnows which will do 50% of the work for me. It's more work for sure to LS fish but I enjoy the hunt and not wasting my time. You can do a lot with SI and downscan as well but you have to be a little more savy in how your fish. I also like being able to target a specific fish (larger size, one that is perched on a limb). LS will also tell me if a fish does or doesn't like the presentation or color/size by how they react - follow it, stare at it, bump it... you still have to know how to fish to fill the cooler!
Good explanation. Your target audience is regular people that wants to learn how to catch Crappie and just wants to go fishing without spending an arm and a leg! And you deliver?
If I could afford it I would have one. I have fished on boats with live scope and you can see plenty of fish but that don’t mean they will bite. I feel it helps eliminate areas with no fish. It is the future just as it has progressed from the old flasher units, 2d, mega DI, Mega SI, also what about power poles, spot lock
Another good vid homie...most agree with all you said because you said it well and respectful. Anticipation of the thump or cork dump is so addictive and satisfying when it happens. Question: How many minnows do you usually buy on a trip considering your thread technique? And your "Tank" calls have been off on some of your reel ins.. tighten up your calls homie..😂
I understand your stance but I'm older and had several heat strokes and don't get to fish as much as you younger folks. So livescope gets me there faster. So it somewhat cuts down on my time in high heat situations. I also did it old school way and caught fish I started with flashers.
@@903fishing man you know me I’m gone tell the truth . I’m in it to fill freezer and teach anybody that wants to listen and learn . Not saying I’m teaching you just people in general that speak to me about how to catch them or where at time of year
I've been watching for a little while and I've been wandering why you say" I want to thank you for comedy " finally I understood you say "thank you for sharing and commenting " 😂
I totally agree about the livescope. I have a question about bank fishing for crappie right now in the heat of the summer. I would imagine it would be difficult since they are deep right now. Is bank fishing for crappie possible this time of year?
It’s not a possibility for me where I am. No chance. When that first cold front comes in hopefully late September/October, then I’ll be on the banks of the creeks! Thanks for watching! God bless
I like this video because it reminds me when I started fishing. Going out and reading banks, land, finding structures by bottom fishing and remembering it. I like using electronics, they fun but when it’s time to fish with love of the sport, all you need a body of water and a pole.
Caleb that theory about using small minnows in the summer that worked for me 40 years ago when I went fishing for crappie and it works for bass to just thought I would say that 👍
I have livescope and use it. But........... It doesn't guarantee you that you will catch anything. It is a tool and you have to learn how to use it. I never limit. In fact, if I catch 5 to 7 crappie in a day at my lake, I consider it a good day. Now there are more crappie in some lakes, so, I guess mileage will vary on that one. Since I was a boy, I always wished I could see what was happening under the water. Just for fun..... And I must say I enjoy using livescope for that as well as catching fish. As far as anticipation, I still think you can have that with Livescope. It is exhilarating to see fish chasing your lure, but, most don't bite. When you finally feel that bump, it is good ! I do love your way of fishing though and I am going to try your method more often. I use my console electronics to find brush piles and then use the livescope and trolling motor to accurately drop a bouy marker beside the brush pile. Then I plan to use your slip bobber method. As far as livescope, there will always be people that hate it, especially if they are more traditional type fisherman. Just by the way, I also have jet skis and there are many fisherman that hate them as well. I always try to be considerate while riding since I am a fisherman as well, but, I still get the looks...... Finally, I worked 30 years in technology for the school system in Georgia as well. Thanks for all you do. Any way love your methods and the success you have with them.
I agree. It is costly and maybe good for tourneys, but for fun fishing, it is a huge expense that is hard to justify. I don't use it. My wife wants one. Maybe someday, but I bet we will sell it after a season. LOL
I was going to invest in live scope, but I went a few bucks more and got dynamite! Couple of sticks with that and those babies come floating to the surface with no problem! I scoop up what I need and head for home. Live scope is for people who don’t have dynamite!
Are you working that minnow back to you constantly? and Does the mouth back rigging of the minnow kill it quicker than in tail or mouth rig? Good video
I am constantly working the minnow back yes. And if you don’t puncture any viral organs, the minnow will stay alive. Top of the back. Thanks for watching! God bless!
The only Issue with Live scope is will it Damage the fish population in the long run in some smaller lakes ! The reason I don't get one is the state fish and game may out -law them .
While you do not use LiveScope, you do use electronics. I have been out with people that have LiveScope, and like you, seems odd they spend the day staring at a screen. I have a small 12' aluminum fishing boat. I have limited room for electronics. The Garmin ice fishing bundle with LiveScope, small backpack size, will be perfect for my boat. Not just because of the LiveScope option, but it provides a lot of other good information to help target fish. If you do not think LiveScope is required, which of the Garmin ice fishing bundle would you buy to use in a small boat?
I definitely use electronics, however, comparing livescope to side and or down imaging is not a very good comparison. I am in Texas, I have never fished through the ice and I hope I don’t have too lol thanks for watching! God bless!
I live in Arizona, not ice fishing either. The portable bundle while designed for ice fishing also works in boats. My question is looking at the portable bundles, if not LiveScope, which functions would you recommend?
The only part I like about Livescope is when I am ice fishing. It will save me a lot of time for drilling since ice fishing is not that easy to move around and try to find fish
In my opinion using minnows is the best way to catch Crappie sometimes you can catch 2-3 maybe 4 off of one minnow that’s awesome I like fish like that plus when the minnow eye balls is half popping out of minnows head they still go crazy after that minnows if you know what I talking about
Nothing wrong with live scope. Me personally, the way I see it. My great grandfather, grandfather and father loaded up on crappie without it, I can too. I just like fishing old school
Thanks for watching guys! What is your opinion on livescope? Hit that subscribe button and come join the family! God bless!
I neither like or dislike livescope but agree on the fin aspect
In my opinion, it's not very sportsman like. Fishing, to me, is about skill and adventure. Not, can I outdo everyone else
I like the excitement of not knowing when the bite is gonna come and waiting to see that bobber go under or feel that thump!
Can you show us how you locate offshore brush piles for crappie

Everything you said you true. I’m not knocking if, I just don’t prefer to use it. Once you got it it down, you got it. Thanks for watching! God bless
Good explanation. Your target audience is regular people that wants to learn how to catch Crappie and just wants to go fishing without spending an arm and a leg! And you deliver?
Thanks for the support and for watching as always brother. God bless!
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! God bless!
I can afford it. I don’t prefer to use it. Yes there are definitely benefits! Time saver is the big one!
Nah they tanks for me where I am. Thanks for watching! God bless
Love the video!
Thanks for watching momma! I love you
What are the setting on the graph,is that clear view.
The mega down imaging up front? That’s how it came out the box. I didn’t do anything to the settings. Thanks for watching!
I understand your stance but I'm older and had several heat strokes and don't get to fish as much as you younger folks. So livescope gets me there faster. So it somewhat cuts down on my time in high heat situations. I also did it old school way and caught fish I started with flashers.
That’s where the time saver comes into play right there! Thanks for watching! God bless!
The crappie I’m catching right now are cool to the touch when they come out of the water . I notice it soon as I grabbed the first fish I caught
What depth you catching them at?
17-20 ft overall depth fishing 8-12 ft down .
Surface temp 95°
@@slabslayer258 that’s about right where I am as well.
Lol is that what it sounds like? My bad! Yeah commenting! Lol
What kind of setup do you use for night fishing for crappie ? Do you fish brush piles at night?
I haven’t done much night fishing for crappie. But yes I would pretty much approach it the same way. Thanks for watching! God bless!
God bless
Thank you 903, Question do you ever fish North Carliona
I have never fished that far north. I definitely wouldn’t be opposed! Thanks for watching! God bless!
Hey Caleb, great video!! Hey do you leave your marker buoys out after your done fishing or pick them up? Just curious.
😂😂😂 that’s a silly question brother! I always pick them thangs up lol thanks for watching! God bless
@903fishing I figured you did. I'm definitely gonna pick mine up or they won't be there when I go back.
@@beardgang594 that’s a fact
2d and clearvu is all you need 👌
Yes sir! Thanks for watching! God bless
I agree with everything you said. My reason for not having is the cost. I can't justify $2000 for a setup & then not use it every day!
Yes sir very expensive tool it is. Thanks for watching! God bless
Great Job !
Your so correct
Thanks off watching! God bless
I like this video because it reminds me when I started fishing. Going out and reading banks, land, finding structures by bottom fishing and remembering it. I like using electronics, they fun but when it’s time to fish with love of the sport, all you need a body of water and a pole.
What line size you use slip corking and hook size?
I always run 10# braid to a 12# mono leader. Fishing heavy brushpiles etc. thanks for watching! God bless!
Caleb that theory about using small minnows in the summer that worked for me 40 years ago when I went fishing for crappie and it works for bass to just thought I would say that 👍
Yes sir! That is facts! Thanks for watching and the support brother! God bless!
For me catching sacalait with Livescope is the best thing invented since braided fishing line..👍🏿👍🏿
Good for you! Thanks for watching! God bless
Man I can’t stand them jet skis and wake boat! They get on my nerves lol thanks for watching and your input! God bless!
I’m pretty late commenting on this video, but what reel is that if you don’t mind me asking? Is it a Penn? Great video!!
No sir. Piscifun.com use code 903fish15 to save you 15%!
My boat came with a Mega 360, have you used one?
I have not. Thanks for watching! God bless
I've never used one wish I could afford one but I'll just keep on hunting for them
Go get them! Thanks for watching! God bless!
Awesome video.! Does the crappie take your cork down?
Yes they do. Very slowly! It’s awesome. Thanks for watching! God bless
Thank you.. God Bless you too!
What are using for bait in video? Minnows?
Yes live minnows in the summer for sure. Thanks for watching! God bless!
I agree. It is costly and maybe good for tourneys, but for fun fishing, it is a huge expense that is hard to justify. I don't use it. My wife wants one. Maybe someday, but I bet we will sell it after a season. LOL
Lol that’s funny! Thanks for watching! God bless!
I’ll have a boat and live scope at some point in my life!
Go get them brother! Thanks for watching! God bless
I was going to invest in live scope, but I went a few bucks more and got dynamite! Couple of sticks with that and those babies come floating to the surface with no problem! I scoop up what I need and head for home. Live scope is for people who don’t have dynamite!
That’s funny brother! Haha thanks for watching! God bless
Where can I get info on a guide trip? Are you still doing them during the school year? My wife is a teacher so I get it
I only guide in June and July.
@@903fishing I guess I’ll have to plan way ahead!
bend that ACC brother, what happened to the sunday live, did i miss it?
I have been sick the past couple of days! Thanks for watching and the support! God bless
God bless!
Great Video !!!!! this is the same reason I Fish !!!!!
Great thing about fishing is who cares how other people fish. Its you vs the fish
That is true brother. Thanks for watching! God bless
The only Issue with Live scope is will it Damage the fish population in the long run in some smaller lakes ! The reason I don't get one is the state fish and game may out -law them .
All i can say is indiana aint got crappie like texas.
Yes sir! Thanks for watching and the support! God bless
Nice shirt I just got mine
Yes sir they are awesome! Thanks for watching! God bless
The only part I like about Livescope is when I am ice fishing. It will save me a lot of time for drilling since ice fishing is not that easy to move around and try to find fish
Yes sir that would be very convenient! Thanks for watching and the support! God bless
In my opinion using minnows is the best way to catch Crappie sometimes you can catch 2-3 maybe 4 off of one minnow that’s awesome I like fish like that plus when the minnow eye balls is half popping out of minnows head they still go crazy after that minnows if you know what I talking about
I agree with that. I mainly use minnows in the summer. Jigs in creeks in the fall and winter! Thanks for watching! God bless
Nothing wrong with live scope. Me personally, the way I see it. My great grandfather, grandfather and father loaded up on crappie without it, I can too. I just like fishing old school
Same here brother!
