We did the primer with both our boys when they were 4, b4 entering Kindergarten. It took a couple of weeks and they loved it. It really prepared them for level K since we didn’t do TG&TB pre-K. Ty for sharing!
We LOVE Masterbooks, but I know Foundation Phonics would never work with my kids. We've had great success with All About Reading and Logic of English. That being said, I LOVE Masterbooks Math! I can't wait to start my littles with Math Lessons for a Living Education K in a few years. Masterbooks is VERY developmental and skill based. It starts slow on purpose but children who complete Math Lessons Level 6 will be ready for algebra at the end. The Teaching Companion book really opened my eyes to this series and how it works! I highly recommend reading the Companion book if you are planning to stick with Math Lessons for any of your kiddos. Very eye-opening! I'll have a 5th, 3rd grader & two preschoolers this year! We are going to be doing Masterbooks Math & LA, Logic of English (for my 3rd grader), America's Story 1 from Masterbooks & the Gather Round Homeschool Human Body unit study. My two preschoolers are going to be doing the new prek curriculum from Masterbooks, called Stepping Stones. I look forward to seeing your curriculum choices!
Thank you for sharing your experience - I LOVE hearing from other homeschool mamas! I didn’t even know there was a companion book for MLFLE!! I need to get it - I hope to stick with it, but I always take it year by year and child by child. I love that freedom in homeschooling! Is stepping stones new? I haven’t seen that one!
Raising Nobles Homeschool yes! The companion book was released in January! It’s around $15 and was so eye-opening for me. I highly recommend reading it. Yes! Year by year and child by child is my motto too! After four math curriculums in seven years of homeschooling with my oldest I pray we’ve found our groove with Masterbooks atleast for her. 😀 haha! It’s working pretty well for my second as well. Stepping Stones is new! It was released in April.
So fun to watch this. It's interesting to see what worked for everyone. For my twin boys they will be going into 1st and I'm planning to do TGATB language arts K. We did All about Reading Level one and I think that was a good starting place for them.
I’m glad you enjoyed the video 💛💛 I forgot you have twins too - so fun! I’m glad you hear you are using TGATB K for 1st grade. I feel like that is very reasonable, it seems so advanced to me! I’m really hopeful my boys can jump into level K as well 🙏🙏
Totally agree with Foundations Phonics. I wanted to love it. While we did finish it, the stories were too long and the phonics didn't make since and didn't teach my little guy to read. We switched to Logic of English-Foundations and it is SO fun!!! Great for active kids! They have so many creative ideas to learn Phonograms and reading. We have fished for words, have done a obstacle course, go fish phongrams, spelling with nature, ect...It is very open and go. My son is a hands on learner and he would pout with Foundations Phonics, now he literally begs for school. So if you haven't maybe look into that. (TGTB was also my choice till I found Logic of English)
Yeah something was missing in the foundations phonics, it was mostly good, just a little “off” for us. I haven’t looked into logic of English but I definitely will! It sounds like a great program. Thank you so much for sharing 💛💛
Yay for twins!
We are gonna be doing tgtb level K also with my twin boys.
Awesome!! Yes yay for twins 😉😉😆😆

Oh that’s great to hear! I’m hoping for the same success for my boys! Thanks for sharing your experience! 💛💛
