The fact that Dina was *instantly* prepared to rip off her own mask and share it with Ellie when she thought she was in danger of breathing spores, that means a lot. They really did love each other that much. Then Ellie is just as protective with her "Hell naw! You better not take it off! I'm immune!" consolation.

It was a moment of desperation. Taking off the mask and sharing it is useless because the mask can retain the spores in the breather.
I think she meant like take turns breathing through it. One holds their breath. One use the mask. Then alternate. Dina prob been through this before. I have feeling she has a badass story growing up.
It meant that Dina was willing to risk her life for Ellie. By breathing in spores she could’ve turned if Ellie wasn’t immune. Dina wasn’t thinking straight, I think this just shows Dina’s loyalty or Ellie.
Maybe she could have meant it as one of them holds their breath while the other uses the mask for a couple of seconds and then they switch

I loved Dina in the whole game. I think she should have taken Joel's place, after he died. Cause Joel taught her how to survive, and now Ellie could learn how to love and appreciate herself next to Dina. She got so much attention in the trailers, but in the game, tbh ways less than she deserved.

I don't agree, Joel's space should've been taken by his brother Tommy, probably the only who could fill it.
Throughout the game you can see all the death he's been leaving, he's just as badass as Joel even if we don't see that much from him, even we get to know he has done nasty things to survive just as Joel.
A DLC playing as Tommy throughout Seattle is the only thing left to complete TLoU 2 story.
Yes, Dina is a wasted character who should had more development and screen time, but taking Joel's place as a playable character? I can't see that.

So Tommy is not a positive character at all (for me). I didn't mean Dina should be a playable character. Just she could be her "new" partner.

What makes this whole thing ironic is that, Ellie told Dina earlier in the beginning of the game that she's immune and she's been bitten since she was 14 years old, but no surprise and yet expectant Dina doesn't believe Ellie, until Dina saw it herself, which proves yet again it's always more effective showing rather than explaining.
The fact that Dina didn't even think twice about giving her mask to Ellie warms my heart, i love her so much
We're all glad Ellie stopped her tho. As soon as that mask came off, the inside of it would be compromised.
I don’t hate this game like most but even I gotta admit it wasn’t the best it could’ve been. This scene is a perfect example of what the game could’ve been. It should’ve been more focused on Ellie, Dina and maybe a third party, probably Tommy. All three could be playable as we watch them grow and learn from each other.

Ellie isn't Ellie anymore. So Dina would be a much more entertaining protagonist. That's why the only part of this game I enjoyed was the Museum, because Ellie still had life, and Joel literally had a life lol.

That's a nervous tic which Ashley Johnson personally has I believe lol. It's amazing how motion capture also allows these little things to be captured in game
And she never apologized. I mean, a pregnant woman in a war zone is just like an injured person, so Dina really would be a burden. but she got into it for Ellie, like Jesse, and Ellie spat in his face saying that she would not save him again.
She was so obsessed with revenge that she didn't realize that she was destroying everything around her, thus realizing her greatest fear: being alone.
Either way, they both forgave her, so who cares?
She acted kinda shitty in Seattle, especially day 3. She changed her mind after she killed a pregnant Mel. But by then it was too late...

If you read Ellie's journal before she gets to Mel and Owen, she mentions how nobody else matters, she just wants Abby and that she'd probably let them go

Although I didn't like the story overall, there were a lot of great moments. There were nice moments in the romance like this, but I think the strongest stuff was the Ellie - Joel moments.
I feel like the game is incredible due the talent of the development team. It’s too bad the directors took the story towards a divisive direction. This sequel really had the potential to be the best game on PS4

Ellie is my favorite character ever but I fell in love with Dina after this scene.
The acting and motion capture in these games is just staggeringly humanlike. The way Ellie fidgets with her hands while telling Dina the truth, it's just all so perfectly performed.
The moments when Ellie takes advantages of her immunity is so cool. That's what her section should've been more about

Ellie will probably be bitten, Dina will freak out but Ellie will tell the truth. What I wonder is how they'll match Dina's selflessness by offering to share her mask. It really shows how much she cares for Ellie. I'm sure they'll manage though, Neil and Craig are both amazing storytellers.

She'd probably only infect others if she deeply breathed in spores and blew them into someone. Also, there's probably a certain amount of spores it takes to infect someone, as there's probably a small concentration of spores that are naturally present in the air even in places that aren't completely infested.
Yeah it's probably for the best if we don't overanalyze the spores in Last of Us. Realistically, a gas mask wouldn't be the only equipment you'd need to travel through spores, since they'd probably linger on your clothes after you left the infested area. And I'm not even gonna mention how getting cut in spore-heavy areas could get you infected due to spores getting into the open wound. If that didn't turn you, it would seriously fuck you up at the least

Someone might have mentioned this, but I love the moment where she says 'I can't get you infected... I can't make you immune either'. It's like you can hear the regret, the shame at having had the chance to create a vaccine ripped away from her, and anytime she gets close to someone it comes back full force
I still don't know why they added the immune part into it. ellie talks about her immunity to dina, she doesn't believe it at first, then this happens and you would think maybe there is a reason why, like maybe a story arc or a plot related to that. then dina tells you she's pregnant out of the blue, and ellie's immunity is never brought up again. it was so random.
They addressed how Ellie was immune in the first game dlc and her immunity was a focal point throughout the first game
Probably just to get it out of the way. It'd be kind of weird if Dina never knew that Ellie was immune.
I think if they focused on her being immune like the first game would be a bit hard with the fireflies "allegedly" not existing anymore and the only person who can create a vaccine is gone. The game tried to tell the player that her immunity didnt mean anything anymore because of joels actions.
The reason it happens is supposed to represent that point in their relationship where they undoubtedly trust each other, unlike ever before. Ellie finally opens up to Dina about her immunity. Dina finally admits that she’s pregnant. They’re able to trust each other more because they know more about themselves :)
Yes they address Ellie's immunity in the first game. But Dina wasn't in the first game, this is new knowledge for her that SHOULD be a big deal but gets passed over in favor of her little reveal. The fact that these two people who are supposed to be in a loving relationship never discuss this big thing ever again is a complete oversight and makes it hard to buy into their relationship. I wanted to like Ellie's girlfriend, but the way they wrote her is laughably shallow.
She also told her earlier, on the day before Joel was killed. Dina just didn't believe her.

Ellie is immune and was supposed to be sent to somewhere so some docs can make a vaccine from her. Thing is(spoilers)
It needs surgical removal from Ellie's brain, part of it. I don't remember if it's certain or possibly not for Ellie to survive the procedure, but it makes her a target for people to make a vaccine. Makes everyone close to her one too. A curse disguised as a blessing

What amusses me about Naughty Dog, is the incredible abilitie they have in writing and storytelling. They manage to engage their audience using narrative and human aspects that are deep in our inner beings. Like lying, finding the meaning of existence, forgiveness, hate and resentment... Of course, lther games like Final Fantasy, do play with these aspects of human condition, but only Naughty Dog manages to do it in a realistic, not hyperbole nor carttonie way. Conversations, feelings, and motives are close to what reality looks like.
I wonder how they will implement that scene into the series since they chose to get rid of the spores and instead replaced it with roots that work similar to the roots in the upside down in Stranger Things.

Ellie on a journey to find Joel’s killers, meanwhile you hear this bih just rant about “why would they kill him” “what are you gonna do” “what happens” Didn’t Joel do this” “could these people be related to the other groups you encountered” “why didn’t they kill you and tommy?” Just constantly bringing up useless dialogue to where Ellie reply’s are dry, cold, annoyed/frustrated sometimes. That’s why I’m kinda glad I’m the play through she doesn’t come along n it’s just Ellie being Ellie. Also DINA GETS IN UR FUCKING WAY ON PURPOSE WHENEVER U TRYNA GET AWAY, HIDE, OR BE SNEAKY IN ENCOUNTERS N SHE JUST STABDS THERE STUPIDLY:)

The more horror genre moments in this game, like being chased by the horde here, and The Rat King later, were so well done.
I'm a horror afficionado, but I still found myself getting swept up in the moment, feeling frantic and muttering "shit, shit shit" while trying to get away.
The only other horror (or horror-adjacent like TLOU) game to ever get such a visceral reaction out of me was PT.
I forgot how Amazing the game was
Just the cutscenes are better than most of Movies and tv show but you have interactive world with multiple ways of getting to the Goal

I'm not even playing and I know they're gonna make it out alive but holy fuck that scene is intense. I'm gripping my chair every time they have to slow down and kill an infected because I know the horde is right behind them. The second it takes to kill one infected could be just enough time for the rest to catch up.
Idk if I’m reading into this too much but just noticed the ripped poster on the right at 1:58 says “save mother”, right before Dina tells Ellie she’s pregnant.
*The spores do not exist in the TV adaptation* , how do you think they are going to adapt this scene? Will they cut her out of the script or will some zombie just bite her? hahaha
