    Having had the derringer/ PPEI emissions tunes and full delete tunes on the same truck at different times, I would stick with Emission complaint tunes from now on. As soon as there is some type of trans tuning for the 2020's I'll probably go that route.

      @@JWMontoya 2018 dually, derringer you don't really feel until you have had it for a while and then turn it back to stock. That's was the only time I noticed the missing power. Plus the truck has to reach engine temp before it turns on so it's not always instant power, It was okay but I wouldn't buy again. Easy to install and remove.

      PPEI Emissions intact with TCM tunes, and for all three I had a CAI/turbo horn and pedal commander (pedal monster wasn't out yet). After the trans relearn is finally adjusted it's night and day. I did get a revision to adjust for more throttle sensitivity and to adjust for my 35's, later when it was released I also went to their SOTF tunes. Normally stayed on their 165 tune and for SOTF i think it changed to 150. Used less DEF, went further in between regens and had better MPG. Pretty much perfect except no sound.

      I only decided to go full delete because I wanted more power and to get some sound. Not needing DEF was just a plus. Cheaped out and did a not so popular tuners tunes, mostly because they had a sale and because the well known tuner was no longer going to offer tunes in the US. I did uppipe and down pipe into a 5" w/muffler. Tunes were clean and the sound was good but no added power at all. Tried with a muffler and it was just too loud for my area, didn't want to push my luck. For towing I would throw on a 36" FTE resonator and it sounded stock, except for a lot of whistle. WOT and it did roll a little, never cared for that. After running it for a year decided when I traded I stick with emission compliant tuning from now on. Just not enough benefits to fully deleting at my age. We travel and tow our fifthwheel all over.

      Appreciate your reply. I have a 17 L5P and I’ve owned nothing but tuned trucks prior. I’m avoiding weight loss with this truck because as we all know it’s just a recipe to spank the thing. I’m also planning on having it for a long time. Was weighing out banks vs compliant tuning and will def get custom tuning. Stock tcm tuning kinda sucks with the 6 speed. It holds overdrive at 40mph and just lugs it too much. And obviously banks ain’t fixing that.

    I have a 2019 l5p with the superchips f5 flash tuner and the edge cts3 (exact same as the edge tuner because they are the same company) and I am very pleased. The ecm unlock process is very simple and the tunes are great. Would definitely recommend to others. Love your content JW. Keep up the good work. Oh and I have the Banks derringer with the pedal monster and I took it off because the gains were minimal. Not an altogether bad product, just not as good as the edge/superchips product.

    i want the delete but not for power but for reliability the def doesnt save the ozone soot dont touch ozone this just clogs you up with soot this epa thing is a scam in my eyes for the new electric car manufacturers to make sale on over priced cars im hoping one days diesel owners get a class action lawsuit against the epa for shortening the life of diesel engines and the ridiculus price of repairing emmisions systems gone bad

    Emission compliant tunes just build extra soot in the aftertreatment. You would have to regen more often to avoid clogging the dpf

      Is this truly the case? I understand that to get "more power," you have to add more fuel, more air. However, is that what the compliant tunes are doing? I wouldn't argue that they are most likely adding fuel. But is it also possible that they are manipulating other aspects of the engine and aftertreatment to achieve higher HP while keeping a clean burn? I'm asking purely as a conversation starter because I am curious.

    I'm happy having the Banks Derringer, pedal monster and Ram Air on my 17 L5P. Ease of install/removal, price and peace of mind for all the R&D that Gale puts into his products.

    I just bought 22 Silverado HD. I didn't know it was so expensive to get it tuned or I would have bought a RAM 2500. Still gonna get it done eventually.

    The thing people need to understand is that all the banks stuff ties together I have a 21 l5p. You get the derringer for the tune but it’s adjusting fuel and air in the most simple of terms. That means more back pressure you get the 5” monster to get rid of added back pressure. Then the ram air for more well air then the turbo boost tubes then the pedal monster to tie it all together for throttle response. The people that are unhappy with any one individual product is because they bought one piece to a whole puzzle and randomly at that you put all the pieces together get the best legal “tune” and performance. And it’s still a little cheaper then a full delete and tune an l5p is like 4,500 and up where as the banks bundle is like 3k

    I live in Alberta Canada so EPA can take a long walk off a short pier!! Still want to delete cuz if i spend all that money for the flash and sof and my dpf gets plugged I’m still out a pile of money, where I could of spent it on a full delete

    I was a Banks fan boy since buying my 2020 L5P. I own everything but the exhaust and diff cover. In the last six months, the Derringer started flacking out, I can no longer run it on the truck.

    A race would be cool .. but that only proves who a better driver is who gets on top of the turbo better who can shift the truck better so many variables I think a fair apples to apples is to strap them down that way some of the variables are controlled because u have access to all the different kind of tuners already installed on trucks of people you know love the content I enjoy the videos

    I have the derringer with pedal monster on my stock 2020 2500HD Z71, and it is noticeable power and torque increases with each setting. I suspect the higher tunes, and beasting on it, will cause the failure prone DPF to clog quicker, but I only use sporadically, I have to add, that my stock 2018 2500HD High Country is much quicker than the 2020. I prefer the 10 speed transmission if I am making a long trip, but the 6 speed is a blast for hot rodding around town.

    JW, I have a 2019 Denali Sierra 3500 HD and just ordered the Edge Pulsar V3 with CTS3. So if I understand you correctly I can expect around 600 HP and 1,200 ft-lb of torque but no sound? What can I do to get close to your sound? Really appreciate your expertise and integrity. Keith

    love your videos man! what id like to know is are the more expensive compliant tunes cleaner which is why less regens and less def consumption? it seems to me the pulsar and derringer just add fuel for the added power which i would assume would clog the dpf and require more regens and def…can you confirm that?

    Saw the new Denali electric truck. 700 hp and 400 miles till dead. What they didn't tell you is that's not pulling and how long it takes to recharge. Plus 10 years you can't give it away for 90 grand.
    That's why the dealers are closing and only taking orders. They know these trucks won't bring a dime in the future.

    i am a LML guy .. and my truck has "been to Mexico" .. but the L5P is too expensive to tinker with so no thanks 4 me .. my next diesel will be 6-7 cummins RAM .. no CP4 style .. and with a Mexican trip of course ..

      L5P really isn’t much more if you think about it. LMLs need lift pump, CP3 conversion and bigger turbo to be at the same level as L5P.

    It’s not just about power difference, it’s strain. You can make the same power, yes. But how much more is the emissions compliant route choking up your engine. That’s my question.
    The difference for me is simple. Just as simple as the difference between 2 stroke and 4 stroke. Not the mechanical difference between the 2. But ones cheaper and easier to maintain. Ones got less things going on, w/ fewer future problems and so on. That’s the similarity between a diesel and 2 stroke. For me.

    Not gonna own a truck especially a diesel for that matter that has a stock exhaust.. the sound of the exhaust and turbo are almost the biggest part of the experience of owning these trucks..

    Hey I wanting to add something that’s not gonna clog the dpf up?I’ve heard nothing but horror stories about pulsar and the evo ht2 hasn’t been out long enough to get feedback…so which is better for that ppe or duramax tuner?

      I personally haven’t had any issues with the pulsar but I have heard of a few defective ones.
      PPEI and Duramaxtuners are both great. It’s like picking Denali vs High Country

      It's gonna happen so prepare yourself. Then they will make whatever you own very expensive to register and maintain. Electric will take over everything but it will take a while. Prepare now

      My opinion is that politicians are greedy and all about making themselves wealthy. I think it’s silly how they’re expect people to buy/switch over to electric vehicles when it’s not realistic. Not everyone can afford to pay for a charging station at their house either

      Sorry bud....as someone who works in the auto industry I can tell you the manufacturers are already planning on a national ice ban....everybody is going to be driving an ev soon enough. Better learn how to make your own fuel...in a few years they are gonna ramp up the price and force you out of your truck...20 dollar/gallon diesel comming to a city near you.
