    I love the artesenal line from the blanco to anejo. And the extra anejo what can I say it's delicious. But what I love about the repo is that I get a Dr pepper taste. And love it.

    Hey guys. I was watching this again with Arette reposado in my glass. And I definitely picked up the grape note now, there is definitely that wine presence there, tannic and acidic grape. However, there is also a sweet note that really reminds me of caramelized corn.

    Arette blanco is my go to. I’ve had and compared the others in your blind test and hear what you are saying but the extra flavors in them that Arette doesn’t have are ones I don’t care for. Over time my preference in general has moved from añejo to blanco. I don’t get the bitterness in Arette blanco that you do at all, just a light pepper taste . It’s a great value.

  • @allenbt11

    I wonder if you guys lost something in the analysis by jumping back and forth between the regular and artisanal lines. You might have caught more progression running through the entire line, if you went B>R>A in the base line before jumping to the artisanal line. And as noted by other commenters, really curious to see what you think of the 10 YR Gran Clase expression. Great Drinkthrough! Cheers.

    Wondering if there are major batch differences because I finally started seeing the arette repo in michigan, and the bottle I have is significantly lighter than how yours appears at least from a viewer perspective. Definitely good, but it is pretty tame. The one I am sipping looks nearly like a blanco and it'd be hard to tell that it is a repo.

    The difference between the budget blanco and artisanal blanco is the cutting of distillate. The budget one doesn’t cut as much of the heads & tales as the artisanal. Most premium tequilas cut much of their heads & tales away, leaving mostly the heart

  • @superdoggo0

    @27:10 - In spanish it is EL Tequila, in masculine, because Tequila is a detilate/spirit and the word for destilate, or destiladO in spanish, is masculine. So it is El Destilado Tequila, and of course, in everyday language it is reduced to El Tequila. La tequila would be wrong unless you are mentioning a particular brand or specific name, like a bar named La Tequila or such. For the drink, it is always EL Tequila. Cheers

      I'm interested to see if you agree with them or not because I went out and bought a bottle after their raving about it and I find it undrinkable. I really don't get it, maybe their older bottle is just way better I don't know.

    • @robertmyers5763
      @robertmyers5763 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@toddprit I've had the square bottle blanco and it's just ok, but also forgettable. The repo is confusing to me, and maybe I got a bad bottle, but the aroma is faint, the taste is lacking any punch except pepper, and I mainly got a lot of sweetness on the finish and not much else. I'll give it a try again in a couple of days after it has a chance to open up, but definitely disappointed with all the recent hype. To be honest, there's no way this will ever be in the same league as my go to repos, De-Nada, G4, and El Luchador. In fact, I could go 10-15 repos deep and this still wouldn't get mentioned.🤷‍♂

    • @sjcsscjios4112
      @sjcsscjios4112 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@robertmyers5763 I agree. To me, it has a unique note in the aroma but it lacks complexity and it has a shorter finish. I don’t get the hype either. I know it’s comparing apples to oranges but I found ocho blanco to be leagues better, more complexity, more enjoyable, longer finish.

    • @CuriosityPublic
      @CuriosityPublic  ปีที่แล้ว

      wow - the regular blanco is closer to $22 around us! Still our go-to recommendation for mixing. Espolon is another one we use for mixing - inexpensive, and fine for mixing, but not necessarily great for sipping. And if you can find the cheaper version of El Tequileno, that is another option.

    • @benvieira3895
      @benvieira3895 ปีที่แล้ว

      @CuriosityPublic Cool yeah the blanco in my area is also $20-23 (I meant I couldn't justify using a higher end tequila for mixing). I was using Espolon before this but I'll have to do a side by side with my roommates this fall. Appreciate it!

      @@sjcsscjios4112 Ok so I went back and re-tasted it after my initial first few attempts with the bottle about 5-6 months ago. Back then I was getting this really off putting grassy note and this kind of fresh wood type flavor that I'm not a fan of. Something about it with that grassy note tasted off and artificial. So my current tasting I just did after letting the bottle site for all that time was much better I must admit. That grassy note has disappeared, but I still don't get a ton of depth. It's very sweet, almost like an artificial sweetener taste like sucralose, there is still that fresh wood flavor and a bit of agave and maybe a kind of candy corn note...but mostly it's sweet. It's definitely gone from terrible to fine and pleasant, so I will take that back but I still don't think it's AMAZING or able to beat El Tequileno, G4, Fortaleza, Ocho, etc. It's fine...but to me it seems you need to let the bottle sit for a long while before the "off" flavors burn off.

      @@toddprit I’m with you on the grassy note and candy corn which I didn’t find off putting personally, and I think it makes it unique. I think they were describing that as grape or grape skin but I don’t see it. Despite that, it falls short on the palate and it lacks depth and complexity. I haven’t had other repos so I can’t say if it’s better or worse than the others they compared it to but I can certainly say that ocho blanco was more complex, balanced, lasted longer in my mouth and it was overall more enjoyable.
