    Thank you for shooting our arrows! We call them the 2.0 because we weren’t happy with the durability of the original Supernovas. The 2.0’s are an upgraded version of the original Supernova!

    I think that doe rolled herself. They have amazing reaction time. I use to target shoot with thin walled large diameter arrows. It's amazing how many options there r in arrows. Easton certainly isn't who they used to be during the 90's. I've been enjoying the advantages of 4mm arrows the last few years. Looking forward to spring to do more durability testing with my Black Eagle X-Impact's.

    I may have to try those! That GPI and the 30 grain aluminum insert would fit my needs well. Can't complain about the Vforce, though.

    Thanks for the review! I am considering Sirius, but I really like micro diameter. The penetration is just too much for me to discount since I hunt elk. Every little bit counts. I am looking at the Victory VAP V3s. Any experience with those? I've shot the V6's and they work but I want a better straightness. Should I just go straight to the V1s?

    • @averagejackarchery
      @averagejackarchery  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The V3 are plenty straight, especially if you can cut them to say 27-28". I have a 31" arrow and for most of my life have shot 003 arrows.

      @@averagejackarchery Awesome! Thanks! I shoot 29.5 inch arrows. Should be good! Really tempted at getting the Athens Vista 31 this season. But I just got new limbs on my Mathews Creed. But I'm thinking I could sell that for half the price of the Vista. 🤞

      According to Ashby’s studies, as long as your arrow is 5% smaller than the ferrel of the broad head, there’s not much of any to be gained going smaller on arrow diameter. That’s from data points by shooting real animals not foam targets or gel.

    Can you do a video comparing the more hi end arrows like the vap tko elites the 4mm axis long range match grade maybe the pro comps Sirius arrows good ones as well as Orion nexus and others it’s hard when you hit that 200$ mark to decide

    As you already know I am looking into a different arrow setup for my newer bow in the PRIME Black 3 that I got this past August. I have thought about getting the 300/340 Supernova test kit. My bow is set at 29.5 in draw and 66 lbs.
    My current Carbon Xpress Mayhem SDS arrows are 11.25 gpi with a 45 grain outsert (have a couple come out while target shooting), so I am thinking of going back down to a 9.3 gpi arrow and loading the front with a 125 or 150 grain broadhead. I know that I can also order 2 arrows per model from Lancaster Archery 🏹 Supply. Any other arrows you recommend trying that would fit the bill?

      All arrow crestings from the factory can be removed with acetone and a paper towel. Although it's not ideal as loose important numbers such as the spine number.

    • @averagejackarchery

      Yup! But much cheaper to do DIY. Go my 8-32 screws from the hardware store. Cut the heads off. Thread in the back end of the insert with glue. Bam, up to 50 grains extra for $2 for a 12 pack depending on the length of the screw.

  • @tylerparker3024

    Youre missing the point on the high foc thing. Its not about your specs. The shot on the doe that didnt penetrate is proof that you needed the weight. Its a penetration thing. In a perfect world youd hit nothing but flesh and blow right through. The fact is you will always hit bone. Ribs at the very least (broadheads dont fit between them). Everyone thats shooting at animals should be shooting high foc arrows but high quality broadheads. Its in the best interest of the animal.

    Got a question to ask about your Athens...I'm interested in ordering one soon.
    Any shim or cam lean issues? Ease of tune? I'm thinking the Vista 33.
    How firm is the back wall, since it's not a limb stop? I'm an Elite shooter and love the Elite feel. Similar?

    • @averagejackarchery
      @averagejackarchery  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Being an Elite shooter since 2017 and owned nearly double digit of them in the time frame, there was no way in the world I was going to shoot something that felt totally different. Athens used to build bows with limb stops. They clearly understand their customer base and wanted to keep that limb stop feel in a more adjustable cam style. Hence the rotating module and adjustable letoff. The grip is bang on, draw cycle is superb, and tuning with "normal" arrows was a no brainer. I had to shim for my GT22S and 2712 aluminums. But that makes sense for my 31/60 specs and the oddball arrow selection. Moved one shim over and was done. Didn't need to buy anything extra. Overall, very pleased with the V35. Actually just turned the heat on in the shop to get some indoor practice!

      Ooofff. Both EXCELLENT shafts. Really a coin toss, but for now I'll stick with my Novas.

    • @stick__shooter
      @stick__shooter 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@averagejackarchery I think the Novas are a really good price point for the straightness tolerance, and I like the heavier aluminum insert option. I'd like to see them start offering the new Ethics 50 grain aluminum.
      Are the Novas as slick and easy to pull from targets as the TKOs?

  • @silentassassin1108

    I picked up some maxima red badlands last season, I was shooting a 60lb bow and have recently went back to a 70lb bow and the arrow specs are kind of confusing with the spine chart they use that says I can still use the same arrow out of my 70lb bow. should I trust that or get new arrows?

    • @JedlyMT
      @JedlyMT 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maxima is by Carbon Express. I hate their spine charts. Plus they don't go down to 250 spine.
      It really depends on what weight of arrow you're shooting. I'd say if you're right around 400-415 you'll be ok with the Maxima 350.
      They are backwards so their 250 is softer than the 350.
      If you get any heavier, depending on your draw length, you could run into issues.

    • @silentassassin1108
      @silentassassin1108 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JedlyMT draw length is 28” and they are the 250s. Can’t remember the arrow length. I think around 27.5”

    • @JedlyMT
      @JedlyMT 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@silentassassin1108 The Maxima 250s are a normal arrow 400 spine. So yeah, you'll need stiffer arrows at 70lbs. If you like those badlands arrows, try the Maxima 350. I have full badlands gear and I love that company, I just don't like Carbon Express arrows. If you're shopping local, most shops have Victory, Easton, Gold Tip, look for 300 spine arrow for your 100-125gr broadheads, if you go any heavier like a 150-200gr broadhead, I'd suggest a 250 spine arrow.

    • @silentassassin1108

      I think the Older Màxima Hunters come in a 300 spine they are labeled 450's. I have Easton Axis Match Grades, Victory Gamers, Beman Pro hunters, and PSE Radial weaves. The 350 Maxima hunters work for me i like them better than any of the other shafts i own! Ex Accurate out to 70yds more durable than the C.E. Reds IMO.🏹
