A great insight into fishery management guys. Just shows lakes can’t manage themselves and to get the best from them regular netting needs to be carried out 👍
The park lakes which I fished as a youngster are now devoid of small fish. They are entirely carp fishing venues now. I would love to see those small roach and skimmers stocked into the lakes of my youth.
So important to a fishery to prevent stunting. As you say at the end Joe it can change a fisheries returns, improving catch rates. Something I looking to get done on one of our waters this year. Water is full of small fish and not fished that much because of them.
Joe I know the benefits. Unfortunately the previous committee wouldn't listen or do anything. Now trying to sort out our two club waters it's been hard over last 4yrs got about another 4yrs work left
We have an interesting carp fishery in the USA which includes their preparation for dinner. You take your carp see, and you place him on a board then into the oven for one hour. Then throw away the fish and eat the board.
My local carp water is in a strange position where it has a small number of pike of various sizes. tiny pike that are caught on 5cm shads and jacks of 5-10lb and even an 18lb as i found out the other day... But yet. the perch population in this place is just insane. Its not rare to see an absolute shoal of them chasing a spinner right up to the bank with each cast in the warmer months. I have no idea about the other course fish. I havent seen anyone ever fish there for silvers. But other club members there have spoke of people catching a good head of them. Either the pike population isnt big enough... and they are spawning as I have caught many pike tiddlers while jigging or the pike are working in cahoots with the perch.🤔🤔 I have a fever. And the only prescription is add more pike 🤔🤔
The gaps will always be filled. On a carp only lake... thousands of baby carp appear. On a lake with mainly pike and perch... the same. If there is space the fish will fill it
Pegs look so close! Another lake for competitive matches so the average angler will be moved from the good pegs! A match shouldn't change the peg what you PAY for! So to me, these lakes are for the money not the fisherman.. who pays to be moved by those in the competition who think they have a little power! Fishing has lost its alluring pull of being alone enjoying the day, but 50 on a lake isn't enjoyable..
Close to 200 pegs at this fishery. I'm sure you could find a lovely spot well away from any matches. And as a side point, they don't run open matches. Just full lake club bookings. So more often than not several lakes are dedicated to pleasure fishing. Give it a try.
Sue and the team at Springvale run a top class fishery...well worth a visit.
Brilliant Fishery all ponds full of fish
Great insight into proper fishery management at work. Good video Joe. Cheers
Thoroughly enjoyed the video. Thank you for sharing
Some great footage there
Great video & a great fishery that’s well worth a visit
Thanks ⚫️🟡
Fantastic fishery... well done sue and the team . 👍
Thanks 👍
Love the thought of them going into the rivers etc 👌
It seems a shame that most aren't allowed to go into rivers :(
Amazing to see the amount of small fish in that lake 😲
Wish our local complex in The Netherlands would produce such amount of young fish..
Most commercial venues in the UK are the same as this. full of fish!
Fascinating. Interesting to see no perch? You'd have thought they'd want a few to thin out the silvers a bit.
Interestingly the other lake had a lot of tiny perch.
What a top class and well run fishery. Credit due to the team that run it👍🏻
A superb fishery ⚫️🟡

Found that very interesting thank you.
Thanks Gerald ⚫️🟡
I can't believe I didnt see a single perch or pike, no wonder you have so many fry class fish.

It's a shame there is so much red tape when it comes to moving fish!

I've seen first hand how effective it is at numerous places. Great thing to do ⚫️🟡

Needs some preditor fish like perch and pike to help self manage the fish stocks.
Great work, which company did the netting?

That’s why you catch and release 👌

You gotta know what your doing ,,we netted a small water and all the fish died soon after we think as it was that silted it clogged all there gills ,🥴

Be honest at least, them little fish a being culled.
We must have imagined the chap collecting them in tanks?
Great video Joe , have done a bit of netting in my younger days it’s hard work,I don’t think the fish were culled
@@NuFish fair play then, my apologies.
