Hi Guys, Love your approach and how you explain issues to an angler who has fished for over 60 years but not mastered or understood various matters well enough. Now retired I want to up my levels of fishing and get back on it and your videos give me inspiration to get out there, as I'm sure they will be to anglers of all levels of experience. I'm going to watch your Barbel fishing next. Many thanks for taking the time. I will also look to buy your gear being as your company is South Yorkshire based.
Extremely pleased that you did a video on this been wanting this for ages and it appears with one of my favorite Anglers Mick…very much appreciated that you did a River video and Very much hope for more such River videos Bravo💯👌
thankyou so much mick, me ol matey. so much great unfo, but also brilliant to watch. truly truly appreciate all the time, effort, and way you explain the details. i even get the info and take it fully in. but then being told by one of the best match anglers ever, you know exactly the real most important pointers to help us catch more fish. thankyou again buddy. and a happy new year to you and yours. ps. nufish videos..... honestly blow the competition away. always always learning something new, but videos that are fun and interesting and ultimitely, varied too. thanks my friend.
Hi Mick, that's brought back some nostalgic memories didn't look any different from nearly 50 years ago on a Saturday Notts fed match easing stickfloat through, double bronze maggot on a 24 aiming for 6 or 8 chub and maybe a couple of roach on freezing winters day for a prize, but the chub wouldn't be that big, great video mate.
It was you that gave me the confidence Wayne , we had a chat last year and you said some guy catches odd chub on stick float there , which I remembered , they were cracking fish that day , see you soon mate Mick
Really enjoyed watching the video Mick, lots of great information with a bit of humour thrown in…a winning combination. Both yours and Joe’s videos are among the best I’ve watched. Keep em coming👍👍
Been using Steak and mince tactics on both the Trent & Derbyshire Derwent for the chub for over 25 years and it is a killer bait in winter when it's cold. If the river is up and coloured I add bulls blood or powdered blood to the mix to give more scent. Also, I now hair rig my steak as I have good fish due to the steak masking the hook. Great video as always Mick
Brave man Mick doing a video on Steak and mince fishing because it doesn't always work. As usual full of great content. Lets have some more natural venue content please.
Great Vlog Mick well explained your approach bait etc some beauty’s caught, some great film footage from Joe. I always look forward to the NUFISH posts. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Guys 👍🏻👌🏻
Yet another top video from NuFish well done Mick & Joe an “old school” method on a famous venue I’ve not visited for a good few years.Tight Lines Steve Amison 🎅🦆🎣🦆🎅
Brilliant video, I was asking some of the other members of the club I belong too, only a week or so ,about fishing steak/mince, then bugger me, you guys do a video on it lol, amazing, I'm only at newark too, so will definitely be trying this method locally for sure, merry yule and a happy new year, tight lines, good health and safe travels, cheers craig
These are incredible ingredients for making bait. I've never seen anyone in our area fish with meat! But that doesn't mean this method won't work in our waters! I will definitely try this method on my future fishing trips. Thank you for the tips!
Brilliant. That really takes me back. Used to use steak and mince through an open end feeder on sone of the stretches through Newark. It was either brilliant or wouldn’t get a touch. Only ever caught chub though. Never a barbel. Passing the crumb and mince through a riddle helped mix too. As it separated the particles. Fab video. Thanks. 🐳❤️
Loved it, real old school this. If I remember right we qualified for a Winter League final (my only one but not the teams) at Swarkstone using mince and steak. Love a natural venue video and the presentation and editing on NuFish videos is top draw. THANK YOU.
Well done Mick great vid .I still use meat as in Pigs Liver Minced and on the hook more blood content. Big Perch love it and the occasional Jack Pike. Keep up the River Vid's
Excellent video, evoking some fond memories of fishing the same way years ago at Gunthorpe and Winthorpe. Keep up the excellent videos especially on the natural venues
Great upload Mick/Nufish, can only imagine what this would of been like fished on the wye! Great bait but find mince liver bit more bloody so great as feed. 👍
Ive never been brave enough to use this tactic, so well done for peaking my interest. Could you do a follow up film, where you use bread flake on the hook, while feeding mashed up bread combined with brown crumb as your feed. Ive had huge success using bread to catch chub, and im sure you have done the same. Best wishes, and tight lines.
Lovely video Mick used go to Huddersfield slaughter House for some blood to ad to the mince happy days on the River Trent at Fiskerton . Keep them coming you and Joe.
Great video really enjoyed this. I like to add some crushed hemp to my mix to break it up without feeding them up and also a good flug of liquid liver for added attraction.
Great video Mick fished that area of river Trent many times in past, used that method on Stainy at Bramwith willows stretch years ago with success I'm sure you know that area Mick 😊
Great film Mick used this years ago had some terrific success with this method at Kellham hall it was a brilliant tactic had some great catches of chub and barbel.
Back in the day I had huge bags of chub using Kitikat cat food mixed with bread. I emptied a weirpool on the Warwicks Avon using it when people were using kitikat paste as a carp bait.
Used to be a go to on the Tent in the 90s.old Jan Porter showed me the method. R I.P. Used to use it at Burton Joyce, stock bardolph and, Radcliffe wier. Was, a killer tactic.
I was brought up living a couple of doors away from the butchers and was taken fishing by him ( He won the national) and He used the spinal cord of cattle and congealed blood, When ulleskelf was full of eels it worked a treat and further upstream at boston spa for chub.
Its good to see someone still doing proper fishing in a river. The only thing I find strange is that after 60 years of fishing I still cant understand people wearing waders. 😂
Are there many chub in the middle trent? It's well known as a barbel river and you see plenty of bream getting caught but not so many chub, on videos at least.
I use beef mince in a 2oz drennan block feeder with a big piece of spam with a size 6 hook buried inside it when im fishing for eels on the lower tidal severn a proper deadly method,iv had eels as thick as my wrist on it,tuna and salmon out a tin is deadly aswell.
@NuFish most people hate catching eels but I love going out and just targeting them to relive when I was a kid, i maybe do it 10 times across the whole year and I always catch loads fish just after the tide when it's dropping back, proper big eels I don't understand how they can say bigger eels are now endangered,in my experience there are plenty about has been for years
That depends on the depth and the flow , your bait needs to hit the bottom somewhere downstream where your float is "set" and fishing , very rare is that upstream
I hope you had a note from your parents to have a day off school. Your face after the 1st was like a schoolboy who just raided the tuck shop. Great video.
Hi Steven , the rod I used is a Preston carbon active sentient , the blue one , it’s not a light rod , but not as strong as an acolyte plus , but I think for fishing like I was here with a big float and reasonably strong tackle then an acolyte plus rod would be perfect .
And one more question: what types of fish can be caught with this type of bait? Is it only chub, or can there be other species as well? Thank you for your reply!
Used to catch some huge chub from the Trent at Attenborough in the late 70's using steak and mince. Great bait but don't be tempted to switch to maggots if they don't respond straight away.
Fishing with meat, but even more with blood, was a thing back in time. In Belgium, blood fishing is forbidden and the reason is its effectiveness. We can still use meat but that's all.
It's amazing the amount of times I catch carp with someone else's tackle still attached to them. I only use match gear and I know I'm fishing for bigger carp than I should be 😂 but come on how can you get broke on anchor rope? 🙄
Hey mick ! Your knowledge is second to none on my favourite venue river , albeit Trent or on your doorstep , preferably the Trent & as any good angler knows the best anglers are definitely from not a million miles from u ie ; Yorkshire! Thanx 4 promoting a venue a nottm area , where the girls don’t fish , ie Notts fine fair weather fishing pussys !
HATE commercial puddles with a passion ... more of this please. I loved it
Commercial puddles and carp lakes make me sick!
:)

@ I shall eagerly await..I just subscribed 👌
Another great video Mick. Thank you for sharing as always mate 👍
thankyou so much mick, me ol matey. so much great unfo, but also brilliant to watch. truly truly appreciate all the time, effort, and way you explain the details. i even get the info and take it fully in. but then being told by one of the best match anglers ever, you know exactly the real most important pointers to help us catch more fish. thankyou again buddy. and a happy new year to you and yours. ps. nufish videos..... honestly blow the competition away. always always learning something new, but videos that are fun and interesting and ultimitely, varied too. thanks my friend.
Glad to hear that. we are trying to bring informative enjoyable watches and ultimately go places we WANT to fish too!
Another pucca video micky boy, proper fishing can't beat good old chub on natural venues 👌
The best
Hi Mick, that's brought back some nostalgic memories didn't look any different from nearly 50 years ago on a Saturday Notts fed match easing stickfloat through, double bronze maggot on a 24 aiming for 6 or 8 chub and maybe a couple of roach on freezing winters day for a prize, but the chub wouldn't be that big, great video mate.

Great advice
Proper old skool Mick ❤🐟🐟🎣
Old is gold!
Brave man Mick doing a video on Steak and mince fishing because it doesn't always work. As usual full of great content. Lets have some more natural venue content please.
There were also days in winter when that's all you could catch on as well....that is fishing, I guess?🤔Fantastic content again guys.
We will 👍🏻
There's days where maggots jus don't work but worms do, an I can imagine that to be for all tactics.
Great Vlog Mick well explained your approach bait etc some beauty’s caught, some great film footage from Joe. I always look forward to the NUFISH posts. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Guys 👍🏻👌🏻
Glad you enjoyed it
First video I’ve seen of this bloke. Absolutely brilliant and so informative
Glad you enjoyed it ⚫🟡

Cracking film again Mick and Joe.

Give it a try!
Nice video, and we’ll presented. I had the pleasure of meeting you once years ago when you were fishing my local Erewash Canal.

Loved it, real old school this. If I remember right we qualified for a Winter League final (my only one but not the teams) at Swarkstone using mince and steak. Love a natural venue video and the presentation and editing on NuFish videos is top draw. THANK YOU.
Well said!
Remember using this Mick 25 yrs ago on trent x Top video mate 👍
Great bait! ⚫🟡
Great video Mick. I used to get my butcher to mince some beef heart and leave a bit for the hook bait. Nice and bloody and enough for 4 or 5 sessions
Sounds ideal
That’s proper fishing Mick and the biggest chub I’ve seen. Great video from a top angler. All the best for 2025 👍🎣
Thanks 👍
Brilliant, takes me back. A deadly method on its day. Great video mate..
thanks for watching
Great video mick.
Thanks 👍
Well done Mick great vid .I still use meat as in Pigs Liver Minced and on the hook more blood content. Big Perch love it and the occasional Jack Pike.
Keep up the River Vid's
Sounds interesting
Brilliant narration mick. Takes me back a bit when we started fishing steak on the trent we even caught chub on the stainy canal with it.
Glad you enjoyed it
Luv these videos Mick along with those Joe does so informative and interesting keep up the g8 work
Thanks 👍
2nd time I watched this vidéo... fantastic!
Glad you enjoyed it... both times!

Brilliant video! I should give this a go!
You should!
Excellent video, evoking some fond memories of fishing the same way years ago at Gunthorpe and Winthorpe. Keep up the excellent videos especially on the natural venues

Great video Mick, great fun catching them on steak.
Amazing how effective it is
What a great video one of the best I have seen
Glad you think so! ⚫🟡
Nice episode 👊
Thanks for watching
Great upload Mick/Nufish, can only imagine what this would of been like fished on the wye! Great bait but find mince liver bit more bloody so great as feed. 👍
Thanks 👍
Great video…. Brings back memories of fishing the steak.
Glad you enjoyed it
A damn good vid Mick, watched it twice to take it all in
Brilliant glad you liked it!

Thanks, you too!
Great video 👍
Thanks 👍
Lovely video Mick used go to Huddersfield slaughter House for some blood to ad to the mince happy days on the River Trent at Fiskerton . Keep them coming you and Joe.
Dirty business but it works!
Superb commentary
Glad you think so!
Great video , something different and very informative
Thanks 👍
Superb video thank you NuFish as I have a river full of chub and can’t catch them on mass. Definitely carnivorous 100% excited to try this
Well worth giving a go!
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video really enjoyed this. I like to add some crushed hemp to my mix to break it up without feeding them up and also a good flug of liquid liver for added attraction.
Sounds like a good idea
Great video Mick, we used to fish the same way in the Falklands, on the river at Estancia, catching clonking great Mullet
I bet sea fish love it
Great video Mick fished that area of river Trent many times in past, used that method on Stainy at Bramwith willows stretch years ago with success I'm sure you know that area Mick 😊
Great area, I wonder if the chub are still there
Brings back memories of the early seventies when we used to fish the method nice one
Thanks for watching
Great film Mick used this years ago had some terrific success with this method at Kellham hall it was a brilliant tactic had some great catches of chub and barbel.
it's a fantastic bait
Used to use beef skirt chub loved it, used to be cheap but "bloody" good
Back in the day I had huge bags of chub using Kitikat cat food mixed with bread. I emptied a weirpool on the Warwicks Avon using it when people were using kitikat paste as a carp bait.
They love that stuff don't they!
Proper fishing that...Let's have more like that.
we will
Proper river sport
A great dayb
could this work at sea too?
Seabream
Nice style 🎣 fishing, soft and calm 👍🏻✨
I'm sure it would!
Your not wrong mick, i've used the same at Collingham weir as well as muscles
I used to have good success with mashed sardines with crumb fishing mackerel as hookbait
I bet they love it! ⚫🟡
Great video lads. Is it just chub you tend to get using steak?
It seems to be a chub bait but we have had barbel and even bream on it
Used to be a go to on the Tent in the 90s.old Jan Porter showed me the method. R I.P. Used to use it at Burton Joyce, stock bardolph and, Radcliffe wier. Was, a killer tactic.
👍🏻
I was brought up living a couple of doors away from the butchers and was taken fishing by him ( He won the national) and He used the spinal cord of cattle and congealed blood, When ulleskelf was full of eels it worked a treat and further upstream at boston spa for chub.
Sounds disgusting but effective!
top video !
Thanks!
Id say Mick is the most authentic angling video presenter...a reet propa chap!
Its good to see someone still doing proper fishing in a river.
The only thing I find strange is that after 60 years of fishing I still cant understand people wearing waders. 😂
Be a bit wet otherwise 😂
Are there many chub in the middle trent? It's well known as a barbel river and you see plenty of bream getting caught but not so many chub, on videos at least.

Do you throw your feed upstream so it gets to the bottom?
That depends on the depth and the flow , your bait needs to hit the bottom somewhere downstream where your float is "set" and fishing , very rare is that upstream
Raided the freezer many times for a fishing trip 😂
I hope you had a note from your parents to have a day off school. Your face after the 1st was like a schoolboy who just raided the tuck shop. Great video.
:)
Hi Mick. Do you use a stepped up rod like an Acolyte plus for rivers such as the Trent, or something even heavier?
Hi Steven , the rod I used is a Preston carbon active sentient , the blue one , it’s not a light rod , but not as strong as an acolyte plus , but I think for fishing like I was here with a big float and reasonably strong tackle then an acolyte plus rod would be perfect .
Cannot believe it, I cannot remember last time I had beef, way too expensive.....this guy is fishing with it😮😮😮😮
Money well spent too
And one more question: what types of fish can be caught with this type of bait? Is it only chub, or can there be other species as well? Thank you for your reply!
It's mainly a chub bait but we have caught skimmers, roach and even barbel!
Used to catch some huge chub from the Trent at Attenborough in the late 70's using steak and mince. Great bait but don't be tempted to switch to maggots if they don't respond straight away.
Great advice
Remember fishing for chub on Stainy canal in Thorne in late eighties using this method, pity they aren't there in those numbers anymore.
They are rare now!
Right young man, lets see you use pasta and spaghetti as bait! 🎣👌
It's a challenge
Sweetcorn is a natural bait in the UK rivers
Brilliant video, proper fishing 🎣
Should have put a bit of turkey on aswell😅
Oh yeah!
Mince + brown crumb = quarter pounders 😂
Fishing with meat, but even more with blood, was a thing back in time. In Belgium, blood fishing is forbidden and the reason is its effectiveness. We can still use meat but that's all.
I was fishing with meat and mins 30 years a go at Burton Jose and win machers
Awesome
Used to fish that year's ago but I used to ask local butcher's for blood to add to bread
Nice! ⚫🟡
It's amazing the amount of times I catch carp with someone else's tackle still attached to them. I only use match gear and I know I'm fishing for bigger carp than I should be 😂 but come on how can you get broke on anchor rope? 🙄
Accidents happen when you're not using Detexion ;) ⚫🟡
Hey mick ! Would rather do this and fish natural places than carp puddles but each to their own
